Hulu, as a platform, has always been known for producing great series. Now that Disney has acquired it, you might think the quality would drop, but thankfully not. I came across this series after reading on social media that it's one of the best to come out this year, sweeping all the critics aside, and with all that buzz, I had to watch it. The first season just finished yesterday, and the second has already been confirmed, which I think is fantastic given how it ends. A weekend was enough for me to watch it all, and I can confirm what everyone's saying: yes, it's one of the best things I've seen in 2026. And it's strange because it's not a series that's on everyone's radar; I think it's because of the platform, but it's truly worthwhile, especially for its plot, which is deeply sensitive and sadly very real in the world we live in.
Hulu como plataforma en una que siempre se ha caracterizado por hacer buenas series, ahora que Disney la absorbió se pensaría que bajarían la calidad pero no, afortunadamente. Llego a esta serie leyendo en redes de que es una de las mejores que han salido este año arrasando con toda la critica y ante tal revuelo había que verla. Recién terminó la primera temporada el día de ayer y ya está confirmada la segunda, cosa que me parece espectacular dada la forma en como cierra. Un fin de semana me bastó para verla en su totalidad y puede confirmar lo que se dice: si, es de las mejores cosas que he visto este 2026. Y es extraño porque no es una serie que esté en el radar de todos, creo que es por su plataforma, pero de verdad es algo que vale la pena sobretodo por su trama la cual es profundamente delicada y tristemente muy real en el mundo que vivimos.
This is a full-fledged psychological and dramatic thriller. Alice Black (Emmy Rossum) is a relatively new FBI agent, having previously worked as a police officer. Upon arriving, she's assigned a seemingly routine case: an overdose. As the investigation unfolds, it becomes clear that this wasn't a simple drug-related death, but rather the work of a serial killer (Lola Petticrew) who acts without randomness; every murder she commits is premeditated and calculated. At the same time, we begin to understand her motivations and whether they might be "justified," with revenge being one of her primary driving forces. Little by little, Alice uncovers the connections between her and this mysterious woman.
Estamos ante un thriller psicológico y dramático en toda regla. Alice Black (Emmy Rossum) es una agente del FBI quien es relativamente nueva en dicho cuerpo después de haber sido policía. Al llegar se consigue con un caso el cual aparentemente es otro más del montón: una sobredosis. A medida que vamos avanzando se entiende que aquello no fue una simple muerte por el uso de drogas sino que existe la mano de una asesina serial (Lola Petticrew) la cual no hace nada al azar, todas las muertes que ella llevará a cabo son premeditadas y calculadas. Al mismo tiempo nos vamos dando cuenta de sus motivaciones y de que estas pueden estar "justificadas", de ahí a que uno de los principales motores sea la venganza. Poco a poco Alice se dará cuenta de todas las cosas que la unen con esta misteriosa mujer.
To give you some context, the background of these women is deeply rooted in trauma from sexual abuse and domestic violence, which has ultimately led to certain traumas they have to live with, traumas we'll see front and center in the series. It's also a story that shows how those in power protect men who believe themselves untouchable because of their social or economic status. The point is that both women seek justice, but they do so through different paths and methods. I have to say that this is one of the most intense series I've seen, both because of the subject matter it addresses and the performances of the lead actresses. It's literally, at times, a massive power struggle that they have to fight and even endure because, sadly, that's the world we live in.
Para que tengan un poco más contexto el trasfondo de estas mujeres tiene mucho que ver con traumas por abuso sexual y violencia domestica lo que al final les ha generado ciertos traumas con los que les toca vivir y que veremos en primera línea en la serie. Además es una historia que muestra como desde el poder se protege a estos hombres que se creen intocables por su status social o económico. La cosa es que ambas mujeres buscan justicia, el tema es que lo hacen a través de caminos y métodos diferentes. Tengo que decir que esta es una de las series más intensas que he visto por todo el tema que se toca como por las actuaciones de las protagonistas. Es literalmente y por momentos una lucha de poder muy grande que les toca batallar y hasta aguantar porque tristemente así es el mundo en el que vivimos.
I feel the series stands out for its handling and development of its characters; I think almost all of them are very well done, even the secondary ones. As I mentioned, it's a thriller filled with profound existential dramas, very evident vulnerabilities, and above all, a great and contained fury/anger towards the perpetrators, hence the intense search for justice (here, the idea that the end justifies the means applies). Even though this killer is just that, a criminal, it's obvious she's going to generate empathy, and rightly so, since justice is so unlikely to spare these people, she takes it into her own hands. Here, Alice faces a dilemma because she has her own internal demons, quite significant ones, which will also cause her to clash with the situation and even with herself. It's not an action series, but it doesn't need to be; it's so well-crafted and developed that the drama, the police chase, and all the personal conflicts do the work of captivating the viewer.
Siento que la serie destaca por el manejo y desarrollo de sus personajes, creo que están muy bien logrados casi todos, incluso los secundarios. Como les decía es un thriller el cual está lleno de dramas existenciales muy profundos, vulnerabilidades muy evidentes y sobretodo una furia/ira muy grande y contenida hacia los perpetuadores, de allí a esa busqueda intensa de justicia (acá aplica eso de que el fin justifica los medios). A pesar de que esta asesina sea eso, una criminal, es obvio que va a generar empatía, y con toda la razón, como la justicia es muy difícil que no toque a esas personas pues ella misma se la toma por sus propias manos. Acá Alice entra en un dilema porque ella tiene sus demonios internos, bien grandes por cierto, lo cual también hará que ella entre en conflicto con la situación y hasta con ella misma. No es una serie de acción pero no le hace falta, está tan bien armada y desarrollada que el drama, la persecución policial y todo los conflictos personales que hay hacen el trabajo de atrapar al espectador.
One of the most outstanding and incredible characters is Nora (Quincy Tyler Bernstine), Alice's superior and boss at the FBI. A tough woman at her job, she's fearless, confronts everyone, and has a unique and distinctive personality. She's one of the reasons why the series is so good. The performances of both Emmy Rossum and Lola Petticrew are also impressive; their level of acting and commitment is top-notch. In conclusion, it's a very raw series that shows the scars and marks that women can suffer from sexual abuse or violence itself; everything will depend on how mentally equipped they are to cope with those traumas. There's a lot of intrigue, a lot of suspense, some interesting plot twists, and the season finale is epic because it opens the door to what could be a second season. Furious is a highly recommended series; it will grab you from the first episode with a solid and compelling story. I've included the trailer below. It has eight episodes and is available on Disney+.
Uno de los personajes más top e increíbles es Nora (Quincy Tyler Bernstine), la superior y jefa de Alice en el FBI. Una tipa muy dura en su trabajo, no le tiene miedo a nadie, encara a cualquiera y con una personalidad única y particular. Ella es una de las razones del porque la serie es tan buena. Las actuaciones tanto de Emmy Rossum y Lola Petticrew también son impresionantes, el nivel de interpretación y entrega es máximo. En conclusión es una serie muy cruda que muestra las marcas y huellas que pueden sufrir las mujeres ante un abuso sexual o la propia violencia, todo dependerá de como estén equipadas mentalmente para afrontar esos traumas. Hay mucha intriga, mucha expectación, hay unos plot twist interesantes y el final, ese final de la temporada es épico porque nos abre la puerta de lo que puede ser la segunda temporada. Furious es una serie altamente recomendada, te va a atrapar desde el episodio uno con una historia sólida y contundente. Les dejo el tráiler por acá abajo. Son 8 capítulos y está en Disney+.
