Hoy es el turno de una de las historias que más me han atrapado desde siempre y cuando digo desde siempre les hablo de la época del Nintendo 64 por ejemplo cuando pasaba días y noches jugando el videojuego de Castlevania. Esta vez se trata de la adaptación que hicieron para Netflix de la mítica vida de Vlad Tepes o como es mundialmente conocido: Dracula.
Today is the turn of one of the stories that have always trapped me the most, and when I say "always" I am talking about the Nintendo 64 era, for example, when I spent days and nights playing the Castlevania videogame. This time it is about the adaptation made for Netflix of the mythical life of Vlad Tepes or as he is known worldwide: Dracula.
Esta es una serie que actualmente acaba de sacar su cuarta y ultima temporada pero hablar de ella sería hacer un poco de spoilers para aquellas personas que aún no la han visto por lo que solamente me limitaré a tocar lo que fue aquella primera temporada y sean ustedes los que decidan si quieren ir a verla. Así que sin más, vamos a ver como comienza esta aventura de vampiros y humanos.
This is a series that currently has just released its fourth and final season but talking about it would be a bit of spoilers for those who have not yet seen it so I'll just touch on what was that first season and you are the ones who decide if you want to go see it. So without further ado, let's see how this adventure of vampires and humans begins.

Trevor Belmont!
Esta historia básicamente tiene un inicio muy parecido al del famoso juego, con Trevor Belmont como protagonista quien es el ultimo descendiente de una familia que siempre fue conocida como caza vampiros y que en los tiempos que corren ya queda poco de aquel grato recuerdo en la mente de las personas. A pesar de todo Trevor tiene que hacerle frente a un Drácula quien está empeñado en cumplir venganza por la quema de su esposa en la hoguera.
This story basically has a very similar beginning to the famous game, with Trevor Belmont as the protagonist who is the last descendant of a family that was always known as vampire hunters and that in current times there is little left of that pleasant memory in people's minds. In spite of everything, Trevor has to face a Dracula who is determined to take revenge for the burning of his wife at the stake.

En esta temporada, que es la primera y que solo cuenta con 4 capítulos, se nos muestra de una manera un poco rápida pero concisa los personajes que a lo largo de la historia serán los protagonistas. Además de Belmont y Drácula hay otros 2 personajes que son y serán vitales para el desarrollo de la serie, Sypha y Alucard; si están familiarizados con el videojuego original sabrán de quienes les hablo y si no pues no pasa nada, el factor sorpresa será más efectivo.
In this season, which is the first and only has 4 chapters, we are shown in a quick but concise way the characters that will be the main characters throughout the story. In addition to Belmont and Dracula there are 2 other characters that are and will be vital to the development of the series, Sypha and Alucard; if you are familiar with the original video game you will know who I'm talking about and if not then nothing happens, the surprise factor will be more effective.

No vamos a ahondar más en ellos porque como lo dije la idea es que los conozcan a medida que vayan viendo los capítulos. Otras de las sorpresas que se nos presenta en esta temporada inicial, además de la búsqueda de venganza de Drácula, es la eterna lucha que tiene la iglesia a través de sus obispos de mente absurdamente cerrada contra todo aquel que no vaya con su doctrina de pensamiento al punto de ser catalogados como seguidores del mismo diablo o Satán.
We are not going to delve more into them because as I said the idea is that you get to know them as you watch the chapters. Other surprises presented to us in this initial season, besides Dracula's quest for revenge, is the eternal struggle that the church has through its absurdly closed-minded bishops against anyone who does not go along with their doctrine of thought to the point of being labeled as followers of the devil or Satan himself.

La cosa se pone mucho más interesante cuando vemos que con el pasar del tiempo se van formando diferentes grupos o bandos entre los mismos humanos; por un lado tenemos a Trevor, a la iglesia y a un grupo de personas bastantes peculiares llamadas los Oradores, que son una especie de orden que se ha encargado con el pasar del tiempo a la recopilación y al traspaso de información gracias a la magia.
Things get much more interesting when we see that as time goes by, different groups or factions are formed among the humans themselves; on the one hand we have Trevor, the church and a group of very peculiar people called the Speakers, who are a kind of order that has been in charge of collecting and transferring information through magic over time.
Ciertamente estos primeros 4 episodios son la base de lo que será el desarrollo de toda la trama, es por eso que se le da mucho énfasis a los humanos a pesar de ser una serie de vampiros y criaturas de la noche.
Certainly these first 4 episodes are the basis of what will be the development of the whole plot, that's why a lot of emphasis is given to humans despite being a series of vampires and creatures of the night.

A pesar de lo dicho anteriormente de que en principio nos encontramos con una serie un poco humanizada eso es en parte nada más. La esencia de Castlevania es la violencia entre seres y demonios y eso es algo que siempre está y estará presente; por algo no es una serie para niños. De hecho este tipo de animaciones están enfocadas netamente para adultos por lo explicito que puede llegar a ser.
Despite what was said above that in principle we find a somewhat humanized series that is partly nothing more. The essence of Castlevania is the violence between beings and demons and that is something that is always and always will be present; for something it is not a series for children. In fact this type of animations are focused purely for adults because of how explicit it can be.
Si hay algo que caracteriza a Drácula y a su combo son los combates en exceso sangrientos que se dan al punto de que la serie no se rebaja en lo más mínimo para mostrar descuartizamientos, partes del cuerpos volando y mucha sangre. Como dije esto es parte primordial de Castlevania.
If there is something that characterizes Dracula and his combo, it is the excessively bloody fights that occur to the point that the series does not stoop at all to show dismemberment, flying body parts and lots of blood. As I said this is an essential part of Castlevania.
En lo personal desde aquel momento que vi los primeros 4 capítulos quedé totalmente fascinado con esta adaptación del mítico juego, uno por lo fanático que soy y dos porque de verdad está muy bien hecha y lograda. El nivel de profundidad de los personajes es otra de las cosas que dan un extra para que esta serie sea lo que es hoy en día. Son CUATRO temporadas siendo la primera la más corta pero que la verdad no decepciona en lo más mínimo, de hecho mejora considerablemente con el pasar de las temporadas.
Personally, from the moment I saw the first 4 chapters I was totally fascinated with this adaptation of the mythical game, one because I'm a fan and two because it is really well done and achieved. The level of depth of the characters is another of the things that make this series what it is today. There are FOUR seasons, the first one being the shortest but the truth is that it doesn't disappoint at all, in fact it improves considerably as the seasons go by.
