Hola amigos, buenas vibras para todos.
**Hello friends, good vibes to all.
Today I want to bring to you a miniseries that I saw earlier this year and that for reasons I don't know I never did a review considering that I liked it a lot. It is one of those series that you don't know what to expect but just by looking at the cast you can infer that at least it will have good performances, which in fact it does.
We are talking about actors and actresses such as Nicole Kidman, Hugh Grant, Donald Sutherland, Matilda de Angelis (who was a revelation) and the Venezuelan Edgar Ramirez. It is a drama with touches of psychological suspense quite complex where it teaches us that people are not always what we think and is that you never finish knowing people regardless of the degree, type and time of relationship you have. Let's see what it's about:
- Sinopsis - Synopsis.
The Undoing is the series that shows us the typical family that lives in New York, a very well off family economically speaking, where the parents work in professions that are very profitable and where the children are in schools that very few are able to afford.
This is the Fraser family made up of Grace, Jonathan and little Henry. He is a famed medical oncologist and she is a psychologist, both quite successful as I said. Days go by like any other and this family continues with their perfect lives until the time of an auction at Henry's school, an event that will completely change the Frasers' lives.
During that meeting we meet Elena, another mother who has her son in that school through a scholarship granted by Jonathan Fraser; and Elena has also been a patient of Dr. Fraser. But everything is upended when we learn of a murder of the most horrible and Dantesque which for many reasons that will see in the series reaches and affects them to this New York family.
And the truth is that it is nothing out of the ordinary, these are things that happen very often in real life, even if you don't believe it. It is then when from that moment begins an investigation to seek to clarify this fact which leads, as the whole process progresses, to the suspicions are involving in a very convincing way to some characters being the Fraser family the main suspects, according to the same police.
- Opinion.
I think the first thing that should be said is that it is a series that maintains suspense and intrigue from beginning to end because it is able to keep the tension in the viewer about the question that everyone will ask when they see the first chapter: Who can be the murderer?..... - an answer that they will clearly know at the end. When I say that it brings a bit of suspense is because it really is, there are moments where you really do not know what can happen and that feeling makes you immerse yourself fully in the story, which is appreciated.
The second thing is that whether for better or worse, this miniseries can become a reflection of what a part of society is like in the United States and in many countries in the sense that they look or rely on what people will say and how they carry appearances in such superficial ways.
As for the characters we have Elena (Matilda de Angelis) who is the trigger character of this story with a mixture of mystery, sexual provocation and even vulnerability that are very complicated emotions and traits to achieve. Grace and Jonathan (Kidman and Grant respectively), the truth is that they are quite normal characters, she a little more emotional, he a little colder and with character. I think the son, Henry, did get some good shots and performances to be honest.
The series is very good, full of intrigue and anxiety, elements that I am sure are liked by most people who love the series. I highly recommend it with a 7.5/10. I leave you the trailer so you can see how it goes. You can get it on HBO Max and consists of 6 chapters.
