Is it possible for sequels or subsequent seasons to be better than the original? – Often not, but in some very specific cases, the continuation of the story can indeed end up being spectacular. This is what happens with Sakamoto Days; the second 11 episodes are truly insane compared to the relatively "calm" first 11, at least that's how I see it. When I mention John Wick, it's because there's a very noticeable similarity between the character, Taro Sakamoto, the plot, and even several locations and styles we see in the anime. This doesn't bother me, but I do find it interesting.

¿Es posible que las segundas partes o temporadas puedan ser mejor que lo visto previamente? - muchas veces no, pero en algunos casos muy específicos si pasa que la continuación de la historia termina resultando espectacular. Con Sakamoto Days pasa esto que estoy hablando, los segundos 11 episodios son verdaderamente una locura si los comparamos con la "tranquilidad" de los once iniciales o por lo menos así me parece. Cuando hago referencia a John Wick es porque hay un parecido muy razonable con el personaje, Taro Sakamoto, con la trama, y hasta con varias locaciones y formas que vemos en el anime. Esto es algo que no me molesta pero si me parece curioso.

This second part focuses precisely on the unresolved issue from the first: trying to discover who Slur is, why he wants to kill Sakamoto, facing several new characters who are after our protagonist, and finally infiltrating the "JCC" (Assassin School) to learn the true nature of Slur's plans. Given how the first 11 episodes ended, it was clear that this would start off strong, and that's exactly what happened. One of the things that stands out is the action and the fights; I would say there isn't a single episode without some hand-to-hand combat. It seems that the perfect way to resolve everything is through physical confrontation, which is amazing, especially considering how Sakamoto handles himself in these situations.

Esta segunda parte se centra justamente con el problema que quedó de la primera: tratar de descubrir quién es Slur, por que quiere matar a Sakamoto, hacer frente a varios personajes nuevos que van por la cabeza de nuestro protagonista y finalmente infiltrarse en la "JCC" (Escuela para asesinos) para saber de raíz los planes de este tal Slur. Por la forma en como terminaron los primeros 11 capítulos se sabía que esto iba a comenzar fuerte, cosa que terminó sucediendo. De las cosas que me destacan es la acción y las peleas que se van dando, creería que no hay episodio en el que no existan unos golpes, pareciera que el medio perfecto para resolver todo sea el enfrentamiento cuerpo a cuerpo, cosa que es increíble básicamente por la forma en como Sakamoto maneja todo.

The added value I saw was in the new characters; in fact, I think they added a lot of them, and they were all very different, with most of them being assassins. Some of them had the typical backstory revealed through flashbacks, which helps the viewer understand why they are where they are. This technique is used more and more because it's effective, it works, and it prevents the story from being too flat and simplistic. In fact, I found the backstories of two of them particularly compelling (I'm talking about the girl with white hair and the young man with brown hair). And later in the anime, we continue to meet more characters who are also quite interesting. This Sakamoto Days universe, which I imagine will be even richer in the second season, promises to be very diverse.

El valor agregado que vi fueron los nuevos personajes, de hecho creo que añadieron a muchos y todos muy diferentes siendo la mayoría de ellos asesinos. A algunos de ellos le aplicaron, la muy típica ya, historia de trasfondo a manera de flashbacks para lograr entender el porqué están en el lugar en el que se encuentran. Este recurso cada vez es más usado porque es útil, porque funciona y porque hace que la historia no sea tan plana y vacía. De hecho la vida de dos de ellos me parecieron muy top (hablo de la chica de cabello blanco y del joven cabello marrón). Pero es que más adelante en el anime seguimos conociendo más personajes que siguen siendo bastante interesantes. Este universo de Sakamoto Days para la segunda temporada que imagino se vendrá estará muy variopinto.

The plot itself never gets boring, because, as I said, there's always something interesting happening. It's an anime with constant action; it's not like the first part, where there were a few filler episodes. Here, every episode moves the story forward. The fight scenes are visually stunning, the animation is top-notch, everything is dynamic and fluid, and there's a lot of detail. Given its nature, this anime features a lot of violence—there's plenty of blood, use of firearms and melee weapons, decapitations, and much more. All of these elements combine to make what we see on screen truly enjoyable. The thing is, none of this would be possible without Sakamoto and his team's abilities. His fighting style, his tactical awareness, his use of the environment, his intelligence, and his superhuman strength all combine to make this a truly spectacular show.

La trama en si no aburre porque como dije siempre hay algo que ver, es un anime de una acción constante, no es como la primera parte en donde podía haber un par de capítulos de relleno; acá no pasa, aquí cada episodio tiene un avance en la historia. Las peleas visualmente están muy bien hechas, la animación está muy bien lograda, todo es dinámico, fluido, hay mucho detalle. Al ser de la naturaleza que es estamos ante algo en donde la violencia está a la orden del día, hay mucha sangre, uso de armas de fuego, armas blancas, decapitaciones y un largo etc. Todo esto se une para que se disfrute mucho lo que vemos en pantalla. La cosa es que nada de esto es posible si las habilidades de Sakamoto y compañía no existieran, la forma de pelear de él, el como ve los escenarios, como usa su entorno y su mente junto a la fuerza sobrehumana que posee hace que ver esto sea un espectáculo.

The plot of John Wick is well-known: an assassin with a bounty on his head, pursued by hundreds of other assassins. There's an organization that trains them (as seen in Ballerina), and they have a headquarters that's a hotel. Sakamoto Days is practically identical; there are slight differences in the character development, but the core premise is the same. In fact, when the anime shows one of the assassins' headquarters, it looks exactly like the Continental Hotel. As I said, it doesn't bother me because it's well-executed, and I don't mind the similarities. Overall, I really enjoyed these 11 episodes; I watched them all in three days because they're so addictive—you won't regret it. If you haven't seen this anime, I highly recommend it. It's definitely worth watching; it's one of those new series that deserves attention because it has everything: comedy, action, drama, and violence. Here's the trailer below.

La trama de John Wick es bien conocida: un asesino por el que llega a haber una recompensa y cientos de otros asesinos van tras él. Hay una organización que los entrena (lo vemos en Ballerina) y tienen una sede que es un hotel. Acá en Sakamoto Days es exactamente igual, hay ligeros matices con respecto al desarrollo de los personajes pero el fondo es idéntico. De hecho en al anime cuando muestran una de las sedes de estos asesinos resulta que es igual al Continental. Ya lo dije, no me molesta porque es algo que está muy bien hecho y no tengo problemas con las similitudes. En líneas generales estos 11 episodios los disfruté mucho, los vi en 3 días porque son realmente adictivos, no tienen pérdida. Si no has visto este anime te lo recomiendo mucho, vale mucho la pena, es de esas nuevas historias que merecen ser vistas porque lo tiene todo: comedia, acción, drama, violencia.
