Con el titulo que le estoy dando a la reseña sin querer terminó siendo una especie de juego de palabras y es que en español este film se llama "Los Extraños". El detalle es que nada tiene que ver una cosa con la otra porque la realidad es que es una película muy rara al punto de que mientras escribo estas palabras no se si me gustó o no como tampoco se que calificación darle; esto último aunque no tenga ningún valor siento que los pueden ayudar a ubicarse mejor en caso de que no hayan visto nada pero por primera vez creo que no habrá apreciación final. Cuando decido ver este film que está un poco en el mainstream pensaba encontrarme con un suspenso promedio, no fue así, o si? - es que no lo se, de verdad y esto es gracias al final, si ya la viste sabrás de que hablo.

With the title that I am giving to the review, it unintentionally ended up being a kind of pun, because in Spanish this film is called "Los Extraños". The detail is that one thing has nothing to do with the other because the reality is that it is a very strange film to the point that as I write these words I do not know if I liked it or not and I do not know what rating to give it; the latter although it has no value I feel that it can help you to locate better in case you have not seen anything but for the first time I think there will be no final appreciation. When I decide to see this film that is a bit in the mainstream I thought I would find an average suspense, it wasn't like that, or was it? - I really don't know, and this is thanks to the ending, if you have already seen it you will know what I'm talking about.

Cuando cierras una película la idea es que dicha conclusión genere algún tipo de emoción, para bien o para mal. En este caso el final se supone que tenía que generar algo en mi pero terminó produciendo un sentimiento totalmente opuesto, de ahí mi reacción un poco dudosa y de sorpresa. Pero ojo, la película es bastante entretenida, es un suspenso/drama que puede que tenga unas ligeras vibras al film de Peele "Get Out" pero con un trasfondo un poco más retorcido quizás. Nos habla un poco de traumas que no fueron resueltos, de querer ser alguien que en esencia no se es y de que como muchas veces no se puede escapar del pasado. Pero bueno, entremos más de lleno con este extraño film.

When you close a movie the idea is for the conclusion to generate some kind of emotion, for better or worse. In this case the ending was supposed to generate something in me but ended up producing a totally opposite feeling, hence my somewhat hesitant and surprised reaction. But be warned, the movie is quite entertaining, it's a suspense/drama that may have some slight vibes to Peele's film "Get Out" but with a bit more twisted undertone perhaps. It tells us a bit about unresolved traumas, about wanting to be someone you're not and how you often can't escape the past. But well, let's go deeper into this strange film.

Esta historia da inicio con Neve (Ashley Madekwe) una mujer muy acomodada que vive a las afueras de Londres donde la vida es tranquila, lujosa y sin ningún tipo de problemas. Allí ella vive con su esposo y sus dos hijos en lo que aparenta ser la familia modelo y el ejemplo de muchos. Pero como no todo lo que brilla es oro debajo de esa bonita figura y esa coraza perfecta hay unos tramas muy oscuros de los que muy poca gente, por no decir nadie, conoce. Como comienzan a salir a la luz? - pues con la llegada de un par de personas al vecindario que siempre parecen estar cerca de ella, lugar a donde Neve vaya, lugar en donde esta mujer y este hombre estarán para hacerse notar.

This story begins with Neve (Ashley Madekwe) a very wealthy woman who lives in the outskirts of London where life is quiet, luxurious and without any problems. There she lives with her husband and two children in what appears to be the model family and the example of many. But as not all that glitters is gold under that beautiful figure and that perfect armor there are some very dark plots that very few people, if anyone, knows about. How do they begin to come to light? - Well, with the arrival of a couple of people in the neighborhood who always seem to be close to her, wherever Neve goes, wherever this woman and this man will be to be noticed.

Esto arranca cuando la presencia de este par de individuos empieza a afectar a nuestra protagonista llegando al punto de cuestionarse el hecho de que puede que se esté volviendo loca ya que en su mente esas personas no están ahí, su cordura comenzará a tambalearse. Ya la trama nos irá llevando a conocer quienes son estas personas, porque están allí y por qué son tan extrañas. Lo que Neve no sabe es que su vida de cuentos de hada estará a punto de derrumbarse cual torre de cartas porque como ya dije, del pasado no se puede escapar y que las mentiras tienen patas cortas. Que el drama, la intriga y sobre todo el suspenso comiencen para la familia Williams.

This starts when the presence of this pair of individuals begins to affect our protagonist to the point of questioning the fact that she may be going crazy because in her mind these people are not there, her sanity will begin to waver. Already the plot will lead us to know who these people are, why they are there and why they are so strange. What Neve doesn't know is that her fairy tale life is about to collapse like a tower of cards because as I said, you can't escape from the past and that lies have short legs. Let the drama, intrigue and above all suspense begin for the Williams family.

Es un film con una vibra muy rara al punto que hay varios pasajes en donde se hace muy incomodo ver porque no entiendes que está pasando y por la actitud de la protagonista. En principio Neve parece una mujer común y corriente pero a medida que va avanzando la historia van saliendo a la luz ciertas maneras de actuar un tanto perturbadoras y desencajadas que le dan un toque siniestro extra a todo. NO ES TERROR. Con este film ocurre lo que ya es costumbre, que a todo le quieren poner la etiqueta de este genero cuando no es así, nada más alejado de la realidad. Si que es un drama que va muy de la mano con su suspenso en ciertos momentos inquietante, nada exagerado ni extraordinario pero si, hay un toque por ahí que hace la película tenga "algo".

It is a film with a very strange vibe to the point that there are several passages where it is very uncomfortable to watch because you do not understand what is happening and the attitude of the protagonist. At first Neve seems like an ordinary woman but as the story progresses certain disturbing and unsettling ways of acting come to light and give an extra sinister touch to everything. IT IS NOT HORROR. With this film happens what is already customary, that to everything they want to put the label of this genre when it is not, nothing further from reality. It is a drama that goes hand in hand with its suspense in some disturbing moments, nothing exaggerated or extraordinary but yes, there is a touch that makes the film has "something".

En lo personal no me aburrí porque esa duda de saber que es lo que verdaderamente está detrás de todo es algo que te motiva a seguir viendo, de allí a que sea muy entretenida, por lo menos esa parte la cumple. Una vez se descubre todo comienza otra etapa donde la incertidumbre creo que aumenta ligeramente porque no queda muy claro que es lo que quieren estas personas, en realidad si sabe que quieren, pero es su forma para conseguirlo y sus comportamientos lo que termina de encajar. No todo es color de rosas, siento que hubo actuaciones sobre actuadas, hubo un hecho en concreto al cual no le vi el sentido alguno y lo más importante, es una película que no te deja conforme del todo o si, depende de tu forma de ver las cosas.

Personally I did not get bored because that doubt of knowing what is really behind everything is something that motivates you to keep watching, hence it is very entertaining, at least that part is fulfilled. Once everything is discovered another stage begins where the uncertainty I think increases slightly because it is not very clear what these people want, actually if you know what they want, but it is their way to get it and their behaviors that ends up fitting. Not everything is rosy, I feel that there were over acted performances, there was a particular fact to which I did not see any sense and most importantly, it is a film that does not leave you completely satisfied or yes, it depends on your way of seeing things.

El film tiene una carga traumática importante, de hecho es el epicentro de todo y es que es el entorno familiar lo que más afectado se verá porque es un trauma que se viene cargando y ocultando durante años. Veremos como puede ser la actitud de una persona totalmente desconectada de la realidad, yo diría que sin ningún tipo de apego ni emociones y el como eso afecta su entorno y a ella misma. Solo por ese punto la historia es un poco interesante, tiene un gancho que creo que es lo que hace que las personas no la dejen de ver a mitad del tiempo, nunca pensé en quitarla pero entendería que si haya alguien que lo haga y es que vuelvo a repetir, todavía estoy descifrando si el film me gustó o no.

The film has an important traumatic load, in fact it is the epicenter of everything and it is the family environment that will be most affected because it is a trauma that has been carrying and hiding for years. We will see how can be the attitude of a person totally disconnected from reality, I would say without any kind of attachment or emotions and how that affects her environment and herself. Just for that point the story is a bit interesting, it has a hook that I think is what makes people not stop watching it half the time, I never thought of removing it but I would understand if there is someone who does and is that I repeat again, I'm still deciphering if I liked the film or not.

Los personajes. Honestamente no tengo mucho que decir más allá de Ashley, la protagonista. Creo que hizo un trabajo decente y una actuación bastante aceptable. Se podía ver en su lenguaje corporal el miedo, la angustia, las reacciones al trauma antes mencionado, el fingir querer se alguien totalmente distinto; la verdad es que si resalto su interpretación. De resto nada que resaltar. Hubo para mi una actuacion muy de mentira, la de Dione para ser más especifico. No me creí en ningún momento su papel ni su actuar, lo noté muy falso y sobre actuado todo. Es una percepción muy personal esa pero si, me costó verla en pantalla.

Characters. I honestly don't have much to say beyond Ashley, the main character. I thought she did a decent job and a pretty decent performance. You could see in her body language the fear, the anguish, the reactions to the aforementioned trauma, the pretending to want to be someone totally different; the truth is that her performance stood out. Otherwise nothing to highlight. There was for me a very fake performance, Dione's to be more specific. I didn't believe at any moment her role or her acting, I felt it was very fake and over acted. It's a very personal perception but yes, it was hard to see her on screen.

No le tengo calificación alguna. Y esto no es malo ni bueno sino que simplemente no hayo un criterio contundente para hacerlo. El final amigos, el final es la guinda del pastel, es lo que hará y forjará, con suerte, sus opiniones respecto a este film. Muy personalmente me dejó un poco descolocado, literalmente sin palabras. Te la recomiendo? - si. Y lo hago para que sientas el cierre de la historia. A lo mejor te gusta, a lo mejor la odias, yo estoy en un punto medio, en un limbo el cual es muy raro que caiga en el. Está en Netflix y dura un poco más de hora y media. Les dejo el tráiler para que le echen un vistazo.

I have no qualification whatsoever. And this is neither bad nor good, I just don't have a strong criterion to do so. The ending folks, the ending is the icing on the cake, it's what will make and forge, hopefully, your opinions regarding this film. Very personally, it left me a little bit unsettled, literally speechless. Do I recommend it? - Yes. And I do so in order for you to feel the closure of the story. Maybe you like it, maybe you hate it, I'm somewhere in the middle, in a limbo which is very rare for me to fall into. It's on Netflix and it's a little over an hour and a half long.
