Comedy series, co-produced by Belgium, France and Germany. A very funny political satire about the European Parliament.

What is the plot?
Samy Kantor is a young man who comes to the European Parliament in Brussels. He is excited about his first day at work. Samy will be the assistant to MEP Michel Specklin, who is inefficient at his job, something that even he doesn't know very well what to do. Samy will be able to establish a friendship and at the same time feel a loving attraction for Rose, who works for the British, and whose future is uncertain, since the Brexit referendum has just taken place. Samy wants to succeed in his work and soon gets involved in big commitments and problems, when he is assigned to write a report on the shark finning problem. Having no idea how to do the report, he will get involved in the most absurd and crazy situations within the European Parliament.

The initial scene in Parliament is a declaration of intent, let's have some fun. They show us a group of MEPs and workers at a bacchanal, a big celebration, an exaggerated party, inside the offices, celebrating the victory in the Brexit referendum in England.
I'm a person who watches comedies, but I call the whole political aspect of the series tense, especially because I don't know many things about the European Parliament and how it works.
The series is a comedy, but it also has dramatic situations, at the same time I found it very educational, to understand how the European Parliament works, the work that is done there and how an organism full of bureaucracy works.
The thread of the plot will always be carried by Samy, that young man with the face of a nerd, who is intelligent, ambitious, but also very noble, this being his weak point and what will get him into a lot of trouble. Preparing a report on a subject he doesn't fully know, following the advice of the pressure groups with special interest, getting an amendment approved, etc. The poor kid will have to learn quickly how parliament works, something some MPs don't seem to know how to do.
Samy will always seek the help of two characters: Rose, who works for a British MP, but who seems to regret having supported the brexit. Rose may seem to be a tough character with Samy, but she is actually a good-hearted girl and there seems to be chemistry between the two. Will they have more than just a friendship?
The other character is Torsten, a young man with a lot of experience in parliament, who works for the political advisor Ingeborg Becker. Both he and Rose will help, but at the same time they will manipulate poor Samy, according to their own interests, all functioning as a kind of ally and competitor.

The protagonist, in each episode, will have to get out of the entanglements and problems, using his intelligence to be able to fulfill all the obligations and commitments, making us laugh in this madness of the parliament, full of funny characters. Perhaps it reminds us of series like The Office or any other comedy with slightly absurd but funny scenes.
Part of the series was filmed in real scenes of the parliament, because despite being a political satire, at no time is it an attack on the parliament, they only tell us a story set in that place, where we try to understand European politics, while we laugh at the funny situations.
To give more realism, the characters speak the languages of their country, so we will see scenes in French, English and German, and also hear other characters speak in their language. In addition, the pace of each episode is very fast, the plot moves forward and problems are presented, solved, but more problems are created. A rollercoaster of European politics, where we will learn about the auroparliament and we will do it laughing at Samy's adventures.

The creator of the series is Noé Debré, French scriptwriter and ceasta, with 34 years of age, he has a wide trajectory as a scriptwriter, one of the most known films, written by him, is the drama Dheepan, directed by Jacques Audiard and that I recommend to see. He also wrote the script for the film Le Fidele, directed by Michaël R. Roskam. The filmmaker has done other work for television, but it was with this comedy that he received good praise and criticism from the experts.

The French actor Xavier Lacaille plays Samy, that young idealist who arrives with the desire to do a good job, within that important body, the European Parliament, but who will get into a thousand problems and will have to see to it that an amendment against shark finning is approved. I have not seen anything before this actor, but in the series he is great, with his silly face, he is the main character of the series and once again we will feel sympathy for his character. Excellent work.
The actress Liz Kingsman plays Rose, the young lady who works for the British MP. She always seems to be in a bad mood, but in reality she is good-hearted and will often help Samy, to solve the problems. The actress is not internationally known, but has been noticed in previous works, such as Borderline and Timewasters.
Lucas Englander plays Torsten, the pretentious civil servant who works for Ingeborg. I don't like his character at first, because he is the most manipulative of all, but Samy will be able to use Torsten's experience to learn more about how he should do his job well and build the right relationships. We recently saw this actor in the mini-series about Catherine the Great.

The actor Philippe Duquesne plays Michel, the French parliamentarian, who runs away from any responsibility and is inefficient in his work. This actor has more than forty films in his career and is very well known in France. He has also participated in several independent films. I have seen him in villain roles and he is a great actor, here he exploits his comic side, playing an MP who has no idea how to do his job.
The German actress Christiane Paul plays Ingeborg, a totally manipulative political consultant who is always looking for an opportunity to achieve her goals. She is a well-known actress in her country for having worked in more than thirty films during her professional career.
These are some of the main characters, and those who advance in the plot that the series tells us, all do an incredible job and manage to have fun in this crazy adventure of Samy.

If you like political satire, I recommend this series, it's ten half-hour episodes, you can see everything in one day, also, if you don't know much about European politics, with this series we will learn several things about the work that is done in the European Parliament. It has rhythm, the performances are well interpreted and Samy will make us laugh with every mess he gets into, whose aim is to meet the goal and get the amendment passed.
It's on Filmin's streaming platform, but you can check the streaming service you've hired and see if it's available, so you can enjoy it.
