Star Trek: Picard has aired all ten episodes of season one now. You can watch them all for free on CBS All Access using code: GIFT. Sir Patrick Stewart himself made this possible.

If you're looking for that Star Trek: The Next Generation feel, than you most likely won't be happy. This is a dark Trek. The Gaurdian just posted this article by Stephen Kelly: Star Trek: Picard is the dark reboot that boldly goes where nobody wanted it to
It's a pretty negative review with pompous hater pandering language, but it does a good job of addressing what people may dislike about this spinoff.
I've been a Star Trek fan my entire life. I've seen every episode of Star Trek: The Next Generation at least five times. The only shows I didn't like were, Star Trek: Enterprise and Deep Space Nine. I like this new one for two reasons: it's different and it has Picard.
Admiral Picard is much older and has lost his faith in Star Fleet. Star Trek has always been a metaphor for modern issues. With all the bullshit and lies our governments and corporations have been feeding us, it's not hard to see why the writers felt they should go in this dark direction.
I won't ruin anything for you, but I promise you that some of the reunions Picard makes with familiar characters and a few moments do capture that nostalgic feeling you are looking for.
Not every episode is exciting, but the writers did a good job in my opinion. I would rate this 4 out of 5 stars. It's not The Mandalorian or Game of Thrones, but I promise it's worth watching.
