I recently watched a Spanish film that I don't know how to classify because I entered the Netflix horror genre with the intention of watching something new.
It's a 2007 movie, it's a bit old and the synopsis caught my attention since it mentions the disappearance of a child and the appearance of spirits inside a house.
Hace poco ví una película española que no sé cómo clasificarla porque entré en el género de terror de Netflix con la intención de ver algo nuevo.
Es una película del 2007, es algo vieja y la sinopsis me llamó la atención ya que mencionan la desapareción de un niño y la aparición de espíritus dentro de una casa.
To enter into context with the film, it shows us the life of a couple with their son in an old house and we all seem normal until then.
Para entrar en contexto con la película nos muestra la vida de una pareja con su hijo en una vieja casona y todos nos parece normal hasta entonces.
We are immediately transferred to a scene where we see an old woman go to the Laura's house, the protagonist. In these scenes we learn several things, such as that Laura's son is actually adopted and that he suffers from an illness, but at the same time we learn that Laura's house used to be an old orphanage and she was just an orphan girl who lived in that same house with other children.
Inmediatamente nos trasladan a una escena donde vemos a una anciana ir a la casa de Laura, la protagonista. En esta escenas nos enteramos de varias cosas como por ejemplo que el hijo de Laura realmente es adoptado y que sufre de una enfermedad pero al mismo tiempo nos enteramos de que la casa de Laura solía ser un antiguo orfanato y justamente ella fue una niña huérfana que residía en esa misma casa junto a otros niños.
Laura's son is called Simón, he did not know anything about his illness and she preferred it to continue like this... One day they go for a walk on the beach, when they enter a kind of cave we see Simón talking to someone but we never manage to visualize who he is, and he tells her mother that he was talking to another child, later the mother tries to check who he was talking to and there was no one.
El hijo de Laura se llama Simón, este no sabía nada de su enfermedad y ella prefería que siguiera así... Un día en paseo por la playa, al entrar en una especie de cueva vemos a Simón hablar con alguien pero nunca logramos visualizar quien es, y él nos dice que hablaba con otro niño, más tarde la mamá trata de chequear con quién hablaba y no había nadie.
As the days passed, Simón says that he wants to play a treasure hunt that "his friends" prepared and the mother, without understanding what was happening, began to play finding objects that someone had apparently hidden, which was very strange... But the purpose of this game is that if you manage to complete the treasure hunt you have a wish that can come true.
Al pasar de los días Simón dice que quiere jugar a la búsqueda del tesoro que "sus amigos" prepararon y la madre sin entender que sucedía, empezaron a jugar encontrando objetos que alguien al parecer había escondido, lo cual fue muy extraño... Pero la finalidad de este juego es que si logras completar la búsqueda del tesoro tienes un deseo que se te puede hacer realidad.
This is how the days go by and Simón continues to insist that he has some friends who tell him things. One day, Laura was scheduled to host several children with disabilities and that day there was a welcome party and just before it started she told Simón that he had prepared to go downstairs and Simón told her that first he had to show her something that his friend wanted her to see and the mother insists that he must go down, Simón loses his temper causing the mother to also get angry and go to attend the party but after several minutes of not seeing his son, she begins to worry and they begin to look for him everywhere sides, unfortunately Simon had mysteriously disappeared...
Así pasan los días y Simón sigue insistiendo en que tiene unos amigos que le dicen cosas. Un día, Laura tenía programado alojar a varios niños con discapacidad y ese día se hizo una fiesta de bienvenida y justamente antes de comenzar le dice a Simón que se preparé para bajar y Simón le dice que primero debe mostrarle algo que su amigo quiere que vea y la madre insiste en que debe bajar, Simón pierde el temperamento causando que la madre también se enoje y se vaya a atender la fiesta pero al pasar de varios minutos de no ver a su hijo, se empieza a preocupar y empiezan a buscarlo por todos lados, lamentablemente Simón había desaparecido misteriosamente...
All this happens in the first part of the movie, so this is not the whole story, it really deals with paranormal things but it's not scary, well, at least not for me, I think it's a pretty moderate thing to watch, besides that they add an ending that, to me, did not convince me much but seems to be logical.
Todo esto pasa en la primera parte de la película, así que esta no es toda la historia, realmente trata de cosas paranormales pero no genera miedo, bueno, al menos no para mí, creo que es algo bastante moderado para ver, además de que le agregan un final que, a mi no me convenció mucho pero parecer ser lógico.
