From Netflix
Hello, today I bring you a Movie review that I had been putting off for a long time to see, I remember that it appeared on Netflix, I read the synopsis and found it interesting, it caught my attention and I put it on my list, a film that deals with eating disorders and you know what is also interesting about this film is that it is created by and for people who have suffered from eating disorders.
I want to introduce you a little with the history of this film. We start by seeing the protagonist being with a group of girls, in a specialized place to help people with eating disorders, but we see that the girls talk about their problems and how they feel, but Ellen (the protagonist) does not feel very positive about it that is why her attitude is not the best and her way of expressing herself either so that cause her to be thrown out of the place.
When she returns to her father's house we see a scene where she gives us a main idea of her environment, her parents are separated, so her father lives with his new wife and they have a daughter. When she was 13 years old her parents separated and her mother decided to come out of the closet and be a lesbian, also her mother had several hospitalizations, she was a little sick in the head and that she even wrote the bible on the wall, her stepmother she's the one telling us all this and she really seemed very worried about Ellen.
Her stepmother along with her "father" get help for her again, this is a very popular doctor for his methods, with this doctor she will have to be in confinement again for a while, the place where she will be is a kind of house, it looks quite normal but not it has doors, in that place she will be in confinement with other patients in total there are 7 girls and 1 boy who has been there for 6 months, together they are trying to combat this disorder.
As part of the recovery, it includes some sessions with the family just to get to know the environment, in this scene we see that the protagonist's father seems to be absent and at this point we realize that the father never makes any official appearance, he always says that he's running late, he's on his way or any excuse, so he makes us understand that he's not present in her life, the protagonist's family is quite dysfunctional, everyone has their own problems that affect the protagonist in some way.
This is a film that shows us the internal struggle that the protagonist has with herself to try to improve but it seems that she cannot avoid relapse again, the film shows us that it is a personal and acceptance process, many patients fall deep into this disorder and it becomes like an addiction for them, they don't do it to look thinner, there are other reasons that as time passes, they become more damaged and looking for any excuse to continue with this disorder.
Hola, hoy les traigo una Review de una película que tenía tiempo posponiendo para ver, recuerdo que me apareció en Netflix, leí la sinopsis y me pareció interesante, llamó mi atención y la puse en mi lista, un film que trata sobre trastornos de alimentación, y saben que también es interesante de este film es que es creador por y para personas que han sufrido de desórdenes alimenticios.
Quiero introducirlos un poco con la historia de este film. Empezamos viendo a la protagonista estar con un grupo de chicas, en un lugar especializado para ayudar a personas con desórdenes alimenticios pero vemos que las chicas hablan de sus problemas y de como se siente, pero Ellen (la protagonista) no se siente muy positiva al respecto por lo que su actitud no es la mejor y su forma de expresarse tampoco lo cual ocasiona que sea echada de allí.
Cuando ella regresa a la casa de su padre vemos una escena donde nos da una idea principal de su entorno, sus padres son separados, por lo que su padre vive con su nueva esposa y tienen una hija. Cuando ella tenía 13 años sus padres se separaron y su mamá decidió salir del closet y ser lesbiana, al principio nos dice que su madre tuvo varias hospitalizaciones, estaba un poco mal de la cabeza y que incluso escribió la biblia en la pared, su madrastra es la que nos cuenta todo esto y realmente parecía muy preocupada por Ellen.
Su madrastra junto con su "padre" consiguen nuevamente ayuda para ella, este es un doctor bastante popular por sus métodos, con este doctor deberá nuevamente estar internada un tiempo, el lugar donde estará es una especie de casa, se ve bastante normal pero no tiene puertas, en ese lugar estará internada con otras pacientes en total son 7 chicas y 1 chico que lleva ahí 6 meses, juntos están tratando de combatir este desorden.
Como parte de la recuperación incluye unas sesiones con la familia solo para conocer el entorno, en esta escena vemos que el padre de la protagonista parece estar ausente y en este punto nos damos cuenta de que el padre nunca hace ninguna aparición oficial, siempre dice que está llegando tarde, que viene en camino o cualquier excusa, por lo que nos da a entender que no está presente en su vida, la familia de la protagonista es bastante disfuncional, todos tienen sus propios problemas que de alguna manera afectan a la protagonista.
Este es un film que nos muestra la lucha interna que tiene la protagonista consigo misma por tratar de mejorar pero parece que no puede evitar volver a recaer, el film nos muestra que es un proceso personal y de aceptación, muchos pacientes caen en lo profundo de este desorden y se vuelve como una adicción para ellos, no lo hacen para verse más delgados son otros motivos que a medida que más pasa el tiempo, más se van dañado y buscando cualquier excusa para continuar con este desorden.
I recommend this film for those who want to have a perspective of what it is like to have an eating disorder, personally I did not know what it was like to deal with it, it is a very hard battle where you have to fight with yourself to win for yourself, to choose to live.
Recomiendo este film para aquellos que quieran tener una perspectiva de lo que es tener un desorden alimenticio, personalmente no sabía cómo era lidiar con eso, es una batalla muy dura dónde tienes que pelear contigo mismo para ganar por tí, para elegir vivir.
