It's hard for me to say that it's the first time I've seen Colin Forrell in a good role, he's not showing off his pretty face, he's trying to explore his character's depth and something more than just being Colin.
Each of the actors in the film plays very convincingly, the director leads the actors by the hand to create a polished story in this madness.
The story itself is great and touches each of us to some degree.
The film begins with a very cheerful introduction of the characters Steven Murphy is a well-known and respected cardiac surgeon with a loving wife and two children. He leads a utopian life full of love and culture. He has a friend, a young boy Martin, whom he helps, and Martin, also very cultured, always tries to return the friendship. One day the doctor's son suddenly loses the feeling in his legs, and this begins to affect not only the family, but also his friendship with Martin, who knows more than the doctor himself. The film is an allegory of the famous we said an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth, where one character has to make a certain choice to redeem themselves for what they have done in the past. The film also features the now forgotten 90's star Alicia Silverstone, who plays Martin's mother and is very convincing in her short role. On the plus side, the camera work in the hospital sequences is quite interesting, namely each scene has a camera which rides in front of or behind the characters giving the feeling of a "patient".
Despite the fact that it is a thriller, we will not see any gruesome scenes here, everything is based on building the right atmosphere and exposing the characters.
The finale is surprising, though in a way it reminded me of Funny Games, of course there is no typical breaking of the fourth wall here, but the madness is similar and the tone is similar. We expect what is about to happen, even though we know it is something terrible.
The director even feeds us with this, seeing us as no murdering individuals, although unfortunately he is right. I recommend the film, of course many metaphors will be discovered by yourself at the beginning of the film, while others will have a solution in the finale. The film is heavy, I have to admit, closer to a Greek tragedy than the usual American film.
The slow building of the atmosphere and the transformation of the characters are the greatest assets of this work. Martin's character is crucial here because we can interpret him in many ways and in a way any of them will be good. It's a character that brings a lot into characters' lives and has one goal. I recommend watching it and thinking how you would feel if you were in the same situation. 8/10

Twórca Yorgos Lanhimos to specyficzny reżyser w swoich filmach, często ukazuje upadek ludzi choć w dużej mierze jego filmy są ciężkie i pełne bólu to zawsze stara się ukazać jak bohaterowie doprowadzili się do tego stanu.
Pierwszym i chyba najbardziej znanym jego dziełem jest Kiel, mocno depresyjny lekko surrealistyczne dzieło o ucieczce do lepszego świata ( poza dom)
Jednak dziś zajmę się jego kolejnym filmem, który już jest nakręcony po angielsku w USA.
Zabicie świetego jelenia to film pełen metafor, który wręcz żywi się widzem choć nie jest oczywiście tak mocny i dosadny jak Kiel, to jednak twórca wziął za zadanie bardziej ukazać widzowi dylemat społeczny i emocjonalny.

Studio A24 po raz kolejny udowiadnia, ze potrafią wyłożyć pieniądze na świetny projekt filmowy.
Ciężko mi to powiedzieć, ze pierwszy raz widziałem Colina Forrella w dobrej roli, bie gra tutaj amanta, nie popisuje się ładna buzia, stara się badać swojej postaci głębi oraz czegoś więcej niż byciem Colinem.
Każdy z aktorów w filmie gra bardzo przekonująco, reżyser prowadzi aktorów za rękę, by w tym szaleństwie mogli stworzyć dopracowana historie.
Sama historie jest świetna i w pewnym stopniu dotykający każdego z nas.
Film rozpoczyna się od bardzo pogodnego przybliżenia bohaterow Steven Murphy jest znanym i cenionym kardiochirurgiem, ma kochająca żonę i dwoje dzieci. Wiedzie wręcz utopijne życie pełne miłości i kultury. Ma tez przyjaciela, młodego chłopaka Martina, któremu pomaga, zaś Martin również bardzo kulturalny stara się zawsze odwzajemnić przyjaźń. Pewnego dnia syn doktora nagle traci czucie w nogach, to zaczyna zaowocować nie tylko na rodzinie, ale i przyjaźni z Martinem, który wie więcej niż sam doktor. Film to taka alegoria sławnego powiedzieliśmy oko za oko ząb za ząb, gdzie jedna postać musi dokonać pewnego wyboru by odkupić winy za to co uczyniła w przeszłości. Filmie pojawia się tez zapomniana już gwiazda lat 90 Alicia Silverstone, która gra matkę Martina i wypadła w tej roli choć krótkiej bardzo przekonująco. Jednak największe brawa należą się dla młodego Barrego Keoghana, który gra Martina, jego specyficzny wyraz twarz, wręcz hipnotyzuje widza, który nie wie po której lini opowiedzieć się.

Na duży Plus trzeba jeszcze dodać, ze praca kamery jest w sekwencjach szpitalnych dosyć ciekawie zrealizowana, mianowicie każda scena jest z kamera która jeździ przed bądź za bohaterami dając odczucie „pacjenta”
Mimo, ze to thriller, nie uświadczymy tutaj jakiś makabrycznych scen, wszystko jest tutaj oparte o budowanie odpowiedniego klimatu oraz ekspozycja bohaterow.
Finał jest zaskakujący, choć w pewnym sensie mi przypomniał film Funny Games, oczywiście nie ma tu typowego rozbicia czwartej ściany, jednak szaleństwo jest podobne i podobny wydźwięk. Oczekujemy tego co ma się z stać, choć wiemy, ze to coś okropnego.
Reżyser wręcz karmi nas tym widząc w nas żadnych mordu jednostki, choć niestety ma racje. Film polecam, oczywiście wiele metafor, sami odkryjecie na początku filmu , zaś inne będą miały rozwiązanie w finale. Film jest ciężki to trzeba przyznać bliżej mu do greckiej tragedii niż zwykłego amerykańskiego filmu.
Powolne budowanie klimatu i przemiana bohaterow to największe atuty tego dzieła. Postać Martina jest tutaj kluczowa bo możemy ja różnorako interpretować i w pewnym sensie każda będzie dobra. To postać, która wnosi w życie bohaterow bardzo wiele, ma ku temu jeden cel. Polecam obejrzeć i pomyśleć jak byśmy się sami poczuli gdybyśmy sami mieli taka sama sytuacje. 8/10
