The Glory (2023): A Silent, but Fierce Revenge Masterpiece.

Review by @kenechukwu97 · 964d · of The Glory

There is a total facade of angelic innocence that sophisticated bullies put up when they are caught being a bully. They usually put on that facade so they will make you think they are the nice ones while the person getting bullied is just being 'oversensitive'.

I've seen that scene play out a lot in movies about bullies, but that wasn't the case in this top rated tvshow.

"It had to be Kdrama, hadn't it?"

Haha. I know someone is screaming that out loud and I can't even start to make any denial. Yeah! It just had to be a show from the wonderful filmmakers in Korea. If you know a thing about me and my love for Tvshows, you will surely know that kdramas whet my appetite in a very special way

Brief Profile for the show;

Drama: The Glory

Genre: Thriller, Melodrama, Bullying.

Revised romanization: The Glory

Network: Netflix

Episodes: 16

Release Date: 2023.

This 2023 kdrama is a movie adaptation of a series of event that happened in real life. I remember watching a video where the lady that her story was adapted in this Kdrama got to meet the casts and she was very emotional because she didn't know her story would be acted out in a very captivating way like this. In her interview, she expressed her deep appreciation towards the whole production crew.

If you know her story, you will see exactly why she's so emotional about the work that was poured into this show.

The Kdrama tells the story of a high school student who had to turn to a dropout after falling victim to multiple incidents of school violence from her colleagues, her teachers and even the parents of her colleagues. After years of suffering and trying to prepare a well detailed revenge scheme, she successfully got herself ready and came back to town where she will be serving a very spicy and hot revenge to her bullies and to those that were bystanders while she was getting bullied.

This isn't just a case of high school bullying. It was more than that. The act of bullying in itself was actually a very intense case of violence towards her. Her skin was burned severally and her Mum was even paid off to play a role in making her miserable. After going through that experience, her life became a living hell, but she wasn't going to live in that hell alone...

She vowed to give her bullies a good taste of what a living hell feels like.

The bullies in this show were unbelievably vicious in their act and they grew up having parents who laid solid foundations for their act of bullying. You know, when a kid sneaks into someone's room to steal and the kid gets a handshake from his/her parents, that same kid will courageously knock down people's doors the next time he/she goes stealing. That's exactly the case here. They have horrible parents who supported their act of bullying.

The trailers for the show already gave a hint about what to expect in the show. It's clearly not a revenge story where the bullied tries to get a poetic justice through the law or sits back and wait for karma.

Nope! This show isn't about anything like that.

The bullied took it upon herself to draw her revenge master plan and that in itself is overflowing with cinematic awesomeness. The execution of her revenge also hits the spot. She did it in a dramatically appealling way.

I've seen a lot of incidents of school bullying where the bullies got away while the bullied lives in trauma forever. The fact that this show went against that pattern is one of the things that whets my appetite about it. Also, the dialogue in this show is superb and the actors gave their all to play their character.

It's simply amazing. It is awesome.

Thanks For Not Missing Any Full-stop Or Comma. Both images are screenshots, taken from the Kdrama. The trailer video is from the official YouTube channel of Netflix Korea.

I love it when a plan is drafted in movies to carry out on the wicked ones, that's where it gets more interesting. Will check the movie out.

I love the title you gave it. That was a perfect title because I have watched it and I love how she revenged silently. Those girls are just so wicked especially their leader. They deserved what they got. I was so happy in the end when she achieved her aim. I popped in through #dreemport

Wow, this is new man, I get this type of movies popping up on my Home Screen every time I login to Netflix, I think I am loving this series already bro, the fact that she took revenge for all the bullies is what makes me want to watch it so much. I love it already…

Thank God she didn’t think of forgiving and forgetting, I would have stopped watching halfway, but now that I know she did times 2 of it, I am satisfied, she paid them back in their own coin and it was good is enough for me… #dreemerforlife

In my opinion, this is the best character that Song Hye Kyo has ever played.

Thinking that it is based on a real story I am having goes bumps. How can a mother allow anyone to give injuries to her daughter. It is strange.

I like the stories that demonstrate the real laws of the world. I mean the karma thing all the time is an old school idea. How often do we see in the world that bad people suffer? Or they become a good person in the end? Or the sufferer finds solace? These happenings are quite rare, in case if they happen.

The truth is that we have to stand up and work for whatever our goals are, be it a revenge or an attempt to save the world from violent people.

I have watched this drama and loved it and felt like she was portraying all the girls who wanted revenge against their bullies like for real they got what they deserved and it won’t happen by doing nothing 😝 LOL I kinda felt like an evil person because of cherishing the revenge she took without any mercy.

Wow I've heard so much about this movie and now I'm seeing that I have seen a movie of this lead character before where she caught my attention with her silent and innocent face 😂

I'm definitely adding this to my watch list and enjoy the masterpiece you have explained here. Revenge movies have their own thrills, I'm excited about this one.

I've seen a lot of trailers for this movie and It looked a bit sad for me. I barely streamed episode 1 on Netflix but it seemed a bit boring... It sounds pretty interesting, though I'll give it a try
