My opinion on "Per Dimenticare" by Zero Assoluto

Well, today I wanted to talk about a song that I was really hooked on back in the day and that I still never get tired of listening to. I’m talking about “Per Dimenticare” by Zero Assoluto.

The song is about a man who finds out that his ex is getting married. Anyone might think that’s pretty normal—that after a breakup, each person goes their separate ways. Everything’s normal.

That’s the impression this man wants to give—that he’s moving on with his life, that his ex is in the past, that he’s moving on. He wants to project the image that the breakup didn’t affect him and that he’s managed to move on. Because there’s nothing strange about seeing your ex marry someone else, right? After all, he or she is part of the past.

And then comes the guy’s reaction: instead of congratulating her and wishing them the best, he starts talking about how difficult marriage is—changing your life, moving to a new home, making decisions about furniture, family gatherings, Christmas. He goes on and on, saying she’ll have to put up with all of this for love, and asking if she really feels ready for marriage.

It seems like he’s trying to scare her off marriage, as if listing everything she’ll have to put up with if she decides to get married. I think it’s a pretty human reaction—feeling attached to someone—and even though it might seem a bit toxic, even knowing that the other person will be happy, that part of you still wants to have her by your side.

I don’t think he’s doing it out of malice or because he doesn’t believe she can be happy with someone else; rather, deep down, he knows exactly that—that she may have found someone better and that there’s no doubt she’ll be happy. I think it’s the ego speaking, trying to convince her that he’s the best match. It’s that same ego that makes you think he’s the right person.

I have to say that the song’s beat is very catchy, and it makes you want to dance to it, even though it’s a song about heartbreak. It’s not a sad beat, despite the song’s subject matter.

Rating: 93/100
