When the country is worth any effort! // Walkirie. [Eng - Esp]

Review by @ksmith7 · 1242d · of Valkyrie

There's nothing better than coming across a tape we've never seen and not having anyone around to tell us how it ends; This week I had the opportunity to see this production by director Bryan Signer, its name for Latin America is Operación Valkyria and it dates from 2008. It is strange that a war movie caught me in such a way as this one did; and it is also about the suspense generated by a plot so well orchestrated, that it made me feel that the ending would be different. Although, considering that it is based on true events, obviously it would not be like that.

There are many stories that are interwoven around what was the bloody Nazi regime; and the terrible inhumane practices attributed to those led by a character as Machiavellian as Hitler. But there are also stories like those of Colonel Claus von Stauffenberg (played by Tom Cruise), who together with a great team of the highest rank, took the greatest risk in the search to safeguard his homeland. In truth, the entire cast of actors made me believe that I was there immersed in the dense tension of each critical moment.

As a spectator, one is grateful when the thread of events takes us by the hand, until the decisive moments; above all, taking into account the entanglement of the names of so many authorities, who must be consulted and request authorization, in order to carry out any action. Of course, when it comes to a head of state, the controls are increasingly strict and being able to be so close is almost a feat in itself. For my part, it was inevitable to think of situations that have occurred in my beloved country Venezuela, in which military intervention, for better or worse, was key.

However, what I totally agreed with was the nationalist sentiment of the patriots who dared the unthinkable; and it is that to attack a president is not an easy thing, in addition to knowing that what was at stake was his own skin. However, in this case the end justified the means; although these are as crazy as exposing themselves and being adrift and then planning what would be the establishment of a new administration. Because it was not only about getting rid of a person who attacked his own country, but also establishing what to do after achieving it.

Now, it is one thing to act as a good patriot and another to want to break the laws; the detail is that there were no laws other than those imposed by an anarchic method of government, which did not value human life and was remarkably violent. So the scenario was totally justified "In my opinion", since a group of brave guys elaborated the plan that was within their reach; maybe it wasn't the best plan, but certain things needed to be accomplished first, in order to make it feasible. So, taking into account the degree of difficulty that it meant to get close to the famous Führer; and getting around the various defense systems, must have been something very well planned.

Sometimes the immediacy with which things change leaves us great lessons. I don't know why a coup d'etat came to mind, in which many celebrated a priori, but then they were crying disappointed with the return of the "overthrown" president. I truly believe that nothing justifies violence against the citizens of a country, who protest for their civil and human rights; it is then when the military leaders must express their opinion when receiving the order to repress their fellow citizens; because they can be your own relatives. In the case of Hitler's Germany, it was high-ranking military, whose feeling for the country moved them to make the decision to act.

Today, Colonel Stauffenberg is remembered for his courage and his decision to put love for his country before personal interests. What an example for current military leaders! I was moved by the scene in which the generals express their unconditional support for the colonel, by raising a yellow label that identifies their movement. It was very daring that they used the procedure of "Operation Valkyrie" to take control of a government lacking a leader; but the problem is that the well-structured plan had a serious flaw. I remembered the phrase "If you want something to turn out right, do it yourself."

It was unfortunate to watch the execution scenes, however that was the price to pay. Although after so much disaster, I am left with the courage to look into the eyes of their tormentors, with the intention of not being forgotten. This is what the colonel said to the so obfuscated General Olbricht. It was one of many failed attempts, but perhaps the most emblematic and that gave rise to the beginning of the end for Adolf Hitler. Someone who marked the history of humanity and who never considered that he was wrong. strange coincidences

True, great performance by Tom Cruise and the cast in general, which make us relive one of the last failed attempts, by the Teutons themselves. I understand what you say about the interaction friend, my dispensations. I am currently going through a critical personal moment and I was barely able to publish. That is why my participation in our beloved hive has decreased. I hope to return to the rhythm that I was accustomed to. Thanks for your comment and support. Regards

Extreme situations require extreme solutions. This is the film about the preparation of the assassination attempt on Hitler that, had it succeeded, would have changed history. Unfortunately it didn't. Good movie, I think Tom Cruise gave a good performance. I suggest you improve the interaction in the communities where you post on Hive in general, commenting on the posts of other users, I think I have suggested it before, it is an important point to make your blog known.
