Geostorm is an action/disaster movie starring Gerard Butler and Jim Sturgess about a global superstorm that threatens to wipe out the planet. So you can expect tons of large-scale death and destruction (whole cities wiped out abruptly, etc.) as well as a fight, a shootout, a car chase, and a character dying after getting hit by a car -- but nothing particularly bloody/graphic. There's also occasional mild language ("s--t," "goddamn," etc.). Younger kids could be scared by images of people instantly freezing to death, but no suffering is conveyed. While the messages and characters are both pretty thin, the movie does portray women in multiple positions of skill and power and a young girl who's scientifically adept.
The film is directed by Dean Devlin, in collaboration with Danny Cannon, both directors have a long history in the production, direction and writing of scripts within the television sector. Delvin has directed the TV-movie mystery "Brain Trust" (2011) and several chapters for well-known television series such as "Leverage" (2008) and "The Librarians" (2014). He has also directed the tv-movie "Untitled Bounty Hunter Project" (2013). In the field of production, it should be noted that Devlin used to team up with Roland Emmerich to write and produce high-profile films such as "Stargate" (1994), "Independe day" (1996) or "The Patriot" (2000). Cannon, meanwhile, started directing the thrillers "Strangers" (1990) and "The Young Americans" (1993), the latter starring Harvey Keitel and John Wood. Two years later came the opportunity to direct Sylvester Stallone in Judge Dredd (1995), a sci-fi film based on the eponymous comic created by screenwriter John Wagner and the cartoonist Carlos Ezquerra. After this title directed another thriller titled "Phoenix" (1998), the film was starring Ray Liotta. That same year he directed the youth horror sequel I Still Know What You Did Last Summer (1998). Several years later, he directed the sports drama Goal! (2005), film that focuses on the world's high-competition football. In addition to these titles, he has also directed several TV-movies such as "Björk: Volume" (1999), "Capitol Law" (2006) and "The Cure" (2007). However, his television work has not only been reduced to telefilms, he has also directed a number of chapters in well-known TV series such as "CSI: Las Vegas" (2000) "Nikita" (2010) and "Gotham".
