BIG FISH (2003): [Review coming - Spoiler alert]

Big Fish, is perhaps the most colorful film ever directed by Tim Burton. This story full of mysticism and fantasy, focuses on the relationship between a young reporter and his father, who has spent his life telling the most crazy stories as if they were real, stories loaded with symbolism that end up making way for the real issue central to the film: the greatness and freedom of man.

Throughout the film you can see how the father-son relationship approaches and is sincere due to the illness of the first. There comes a point where Edward (the father) finds himself in a difficult situation when confronted by his son William, when he reproaches him that he does not really know him, since among all his stories (for fictional William) he himself lost.

The powerful image of the hanging shoes, the parallelism between the big fish in the river and the small fish in the fish tank, the exquisitely selected colors and costumes and the fantastic direction of Burton in accordance with the novel by Daniel Wallace, make this film a story with one of the most emotional endings I've seen. The characters are extremely well developed and adapted to the fantasy world of Edward, the microhistories that are told throughout the film are fascinating and well spun.

Personally I place among my favorites circus scenes and those that occur in the context of WWI. This review is very short for all the symbolism that develops in the story... A classic of all times. The witch to Edward Bloom: "The biggest fish in the river gets that way by never being caught".
