Death Note o Desu noto es un anime bastante conocido tanto por los fans de la animación japonesa como por algunas personas que no recurren a este tipo de entretenimiento con frecuencia. La adaptación anime fue dirigida por Tetsuro Araki, mientras que el manga en el que está basada fue escrito por Tsugumi Oba e ilustrado por Takeshi Obata.

Death Note or Desu noto is an anime quite well known both by fans of Japanese animation and by some people who do not turn to this type of entertainment often. Esta historia cuenta con tres live action, dos novelas ligeras, diversos videojuegos y una película realizada por Netflix. ¿Y cómo no? Estoy segura de que tiene una trama que fascinaría a casi todo el mundo, o por lo menos a los amantes del género detectivesco. No por nada ha sido reconocido a nivel internacional, siendo nominado y recibiendo varios premios entre los que destacan el Britanico Eagle a mejor manga del año y el premio Evergreen Young Adult Book Award al mejor anime en la Tokyo Anime Awards.

This story has three live actions, two light novels, several video games and a movie made by Netflix. And how could it not? I'm sure it has a plot that would fascinate almost everyone, or at least lovers of the detective genre. Not for nothing has it been recognized internationally, being nominated and receiving several awards including the British Eagle for best manga of the year and the Evergreen Young Adult Book Award for best anime at the Tokyo Anime Awards.

Antes de entrar de lleno en lo que es la trama y los personajes de esta serie, cabe recalcar que el anime se emitió en octubre del 2006, específicamente el día número 3 y cuenta con 37 episodios en total. En cambio, el manga empezó a publicarse tres años antes por la editorial Shueisha en un total de ciento ocho capítulos distribuidos en doce volúmenes.

La historia | The story

Ahora sí, es momento de contarles de qué se trata este anime. La historia gira en torno a un sobresaliente estudiante de Japón llamado Light Yagami, que en este caso es nuestro personaje principal y el antagonista de la serie. Este chico tiene una forma curiosa de ver el mundo, pero en conclusión podría decirse que lo considera como un lugar «podrido».

The story revolves around an outstanding student from Japan named Light Yagami, who in this case is our main character and the antagonist of the series. This boy has a curious way of looking at the world, but in conclusion it could be said that he considers it as a "rotten" place.

Sin duda es debido a esta visión que cuando tiene la oportunidad no duda en eliminar a todos los criminales de los que tiene constancia, queriendo erradicar a los de todo el planeta para tener un lugar libre del mal en el cual vivir. Claro que en esta reformación él quiere ser nada más y nada menos que el Dios del nuevo mundo.

La libreta mortal pertenece en realidad al mundo de los Shinigamis, los cuales son Dioses que tienen el trabajo de acabar con la vida de las personas cuando llegue el momento. En este caso el Shinigami Ryuk fue el encargado de arrojar la libreta al mundo humano, por aburrimiento, no sin antes escribir sus instrucciones en inglés, alegando que este es el idioma universal.

The Death Notebook actually belongs to the world of the Shinigami, which are Gods who have the job of ending people's lives when the time comes. En el manga cada capítulo tiene una página con las reglas de esta libreta, mientras que en el anime se mencionan las reglas acerca de su uso en cada pausa. Dicho esto es importante mencionar el cómo suceden las muertes:

✦ Si un nombre es escrito en esta libreta, la persona morirá a los 40 segundos de un ataque al corazón, a menos que el portador especifique su causa de muerte.

✦ Al especificarse la causa de muerte las víctimas solo pueden morir por muertes posibles a su alrededor. Si esta regla no se cumple, se anulan las condiciones de muerte, pero no la muerte en sí. Es decir, de igual modo la victima morirá pero no del modo especificado.

In the manga each chapter has a page with the rules of this notebook, while in the anime the rules about its use are mentioned in each pause. That said it is important to mention how the deaths happen:

When he finds the notebook, he doesn't believe it can work, although his skepticism didn't stop him from putting it to the test. The result? The ideal lethal weapon to begin his plans.

Mi valoración de este anime es muy alta, creo que es una de las mejores series de anime que he visto. Me encanta la trama y los personajes, esa guerra de ingenios entre Kira y los que intentan atraparlo, me gustan mucho los personajes con un alto coeficiente intelectual y las historias de detectives y asesinos, jugando al gato y al ratón.

My rating of this anime is very high, I think it is one of the best anime series I have seen. I love the plot and the characters, that war of wits between Kira and those who try to catch him, I really like the characters with a high IQ and the stories of detectives and assassins, playing cat and mouse.

Es entretenido ver cómo se va desarrollando esta historia, las cosas que hace Kira para evitar ser descubierto, los planes que lleva al límite para seguir siendo ese Dios adorado que imparte justicia. Pese a que él es el personaje principal, mi gusto se iba por el detective L, y no únicamente yo. Leí por ahí que había habido una encuesta acerca de la popularidad de estos dos personajes y él obtenía mayores votos.

It's entertaining to watch this story unfold, the things Kira does to avoid being caught, the plans he pushes to the limit to remain that adored God who dispenses justice. Despite the fact that he is the main character, my liking was going for Detective L, and not just me. I read somewhere that there had been a poll about the popularity of these two characters and he got the most votes.

Es una historia muy completa que logra con su objetivo de entretener e incluso traspasa esa posibilidad de dejarla en el olvido. En mi caso la recuerdo como una serie que merece la pena disfrutar y por supuesto, me gustaría verla nuevamente de ser posible.

It is a very complete story that achieves its goal of entertaining and even goes beyond the possibility of leaving it in oblivion. In my case I remember it as a series worth enjoying and of course, I would like to watch it again if possible.
