Si hay una película que muestre la realidad de los jóvenes a nivel social y como una maestra puede hacerlos creer en ellos es Mentes peligrosas publicada en el año 1995 con una duración de 99 minutos, cuando ví el título no estaba segura si me fuese a gustar o si realmente valdría la pena, pero la película va más allá del drama, ya que transmite un mensaje poderoso a la juventud.

If there is a film that shows the reality of young people on a social level and how a teacher can make them believe in themselves, it is Dangerous Minds, released in 1995 with a duration of 99 minutes. When I saw the title, I wasn't sure if I would like it or if it would really be worth it, but the film goes beyond drama, as it conveys a powerful message to young people.

La maestra LouAnne Johnson poco experimentada pero con ganas de enseñar y educar, consigue un trabajo de tiempo completo en una escuela con un sueldo prometedor, sin embargo la realidad es otra, en esta secundaria hay jóvenes de barrio, con vidas difíciles a nivel social, económico, en dónde enfrentan problemas familiares así como también involucrandose en pandillas, realmente sin oportunidades para el futuro.

Inexperienced but eager to teach and educate, teacher LouAnne Johnson lands a full-time job at a school with a promising salary. However, the reality is quite different. This high school is full of young people from poor neighborhoods, with difficult lives on a social and economic level, facing family problems and getting involved in gangs, with virtually no opportunities for the future.

Varias maestras habían abandonado el grupo de estudiantes por su mal comportamiento, para LouAnne resulta difícil ganarse su confianza pero busca la forma de enseñar con diferentes métodos fuera del programa de la escuela, ella a pesar del rechazo sabía como mantenerse fuerte, por lo que al pasar los días los jóvenes van tomándola un poco enserio.

Several teachers had left the group of students because of their bad behavior. For LouAnne, it was difficult to gain their trust, but she looked for ways to teach using different methods outside the school program. Despite the rejection, she knew how to stay strong, so as the days went by, the young people began to take her a little more seriously.

Siempre trató de enseñarles que no había impedimento para continuar estudiando, no los juzgaba al contrario, los motivó e hizo creer en ellos mismos, detrás de esa mente peligrosa y de esa rebeldía también había inteligencia y cada uno podía brillar con luz propia, sin embargo para otro estudiante no es así, terminando con un final fatal. También se puede evidenciar la carencia de educación en las familias, haciendo que sus hijos tomaran otro rumbo.

He always tried to teach them that there was no obstacle to continuing their studies. He didn't judge them; on the contrary, he motivated them and made them believe in themselves. Behind that dangerous mind and that rebelliousness, there was also intelligence, and each one could shine with their own light. However, for another student, this wasn't the case, ending in a tragic fate. The lack of education within families is also evident, leading their children down a different path.

Me gustó mucho la película porque nos deja un mensaje sobre todo a los jóvenes, hay maestros que pueden interferir de forma positiva en la vida y que logran marcar la diferencia, es bonito cuando se es escuchado y no juzgado, pero también deben escuchar y saber que depende de de cada uno cambiar su realidad, y que vivir en un entorno de pobreza, violencia no sea impedimento para estudiar y graduarse, la mejor recompensa es el conocimiento como ella decía a los jóvenes.

I really liked the movie because it leaves us with a message, especially for young people: there are teachers who can positively influence our lives and make a real difference. It's wonderful when you're listened to and not judged, but they also need to listen and understand that it's up to each of them to change their own reality, and that living in poverty and violence shouldn't be an obstacle to studying and graduating. The best reward is knowledge, as she told the young people.
