Hola amigos, bienvenidos a mi blog, en esta oportunidad les comparto la reseña de la película Saturday Night Fever ya hace 49 años que se estrenó para mí es una de las mejores películas musical, la primera vez que la vi fué por mi papá, luego la he visto unas dos veces más y me ha encantado el estilo de los años 70, a través del tiempo se ha vuelto un ícono mundial.

Hello friends, and welcome to my blog. Today, I’m sharing a review of the movie Saturday Night Fever. It premiered 49 years ago, and for me, it is one of the best musical films out there. I first watched it thanks to my dad, and I’ve seen it a couple of times since; I absolutely love the 70s style, and over the years, it has become a global icon.

Todo comienza cuando Tony Manero un joven de 19 años camina por las calles de Brooklyn, Nueva York con su traje de color negro y camisa roja, al estilo de Stayin Alive de los Bee Gees, trabaja en una tienda de pinturas pero no es bien remunerado, por lo que en su hogar abundan los problemas, además que su familia es muy conservadora.

It all begins when Tony Manero, a 19-year-old, walks the streets of Brooklyn, New York, wearing a black suit and a red shirt—reminiscent of the Bee Gees' "Stayin' Alive" style. He works at a paint store but is poorly paid, leading to abundant problems at home, compounded by the fact that his family is very conservative.

Se mantiene en un ambiente opresivo donde su padre tiene una actitud machista, mientras que su madre se inclina más hacia su hermano Frank siendo miembro de la iglesia católica, poco después abandona la misma generando un gran impacto en su madre, sus padres reprochan a Tony por su estilo de vida.

He remains in an oppressive environment where his father displays a chauvinistic attitude, while his mother favors his brother, Frank; although he was once a member of the Catholic Church, he subsequently leaves it—a move that deeply affects his mother—and his parents reproach Tony for his lifestyle.

Tony es un joven que se preocupa principalmente por su apariencia, es arrogante y cuida mucho de su imágen ya que los fin de semana se convierte en la estrella principal de la disco, junto a sus amigos llevan una vida carencias en cuanto a educación, existen los prejuicios donde la mujer es vista como un objeto sexual además de la discriminación hacia algunos grupos de personas. Esta sería la parte negativa, la película demuestra aquellas situaciones que pudieron ocurrir en aquella época.

Tony is a young man primarily concerned with his appearance; he is arrogant and highly conscious of his image, as he becomes the star of the local disco on weekends. He and his friends lead lives marked by a lack of education, harboring prejudices that view women as sexual objects and engaging in discrimination against certain groups of people. This represents the negative side of the story; the film portrays situations that were typical of that era.

En la película destacan canciones de los Bee Gees como: Stayin' Alive, Night Fever, How Deep Is Your Love, You Should Be Dancing. Siendo así los clásicos más escuchados en la época, Tony destaca como el mejor bailarín en dónde los sábados brilla en la pista, conoció a Stephanie, una joven bailarina del cual se enamora pero ella lo rechaza por sus actitudes poco maduras, además se preparan para una competencia de baile en dónde resultan ganadores.

The film features standout songs by the Bee Gees, such as "Stayin' Alive," "Night Fever," "How Deep Is Your Love," and "You Should Be Dancing." As these tracks became the era's most popular hits, Tony shines as the best dancer on the floor every Saturday; he meets Stephanie, a young dancer with whom he falls in love, though she initially rejects him due to his immaturity—yet they ultimately team up and win a dance competition.

A pesar de que ganan el concurso va más allá de ser buenos bailarines, el premio fué concedido principalmente por su popularidad y por ser de piel blanca, al final de la película su compañera Stephanie le da una gran lección a Tony, en dónde comprende que sus actitudes no lo llevarán a ningún lado ni siquiera a buen futuro, por lo que entiende que creer ser superior a los demás no está bien.

Although winning the contest required more than just being good dancers, the prize was awarded primarily due to their popularity and the fact that they were white; at the end of the film, his partner Stephanie teaches Tony a valuable lesson, helping him realize that his attitudes will get him nowhere—let alone lead to a bright future—and that believing himself superior to others is wrong.

Al final Tony aprende que debe madurar y volverse responsable, así que puedes disfrutar tanto del baile, la música, y ver un poco más allá de como es la vida de un joven que no piensa en su futuro, mientras tanto te van a dar ganas de bailar también. Gracias por leer.

In the end, Tony learns he needs to grow up and become responsible; you get to enjoy the dancing and music while gaining insight into the life of a young man who isn't thinking about his future—and all the while, you’ll feel like dancing, too. Thanks for reading.
