Hello friends, and welcome to my blog. Today, I’m sharing a review of the movie Saturday Night Fever. It premiered 49 years ago, and for me, it is one of the best musical films out there. I first watched it thanks to my dad, and I’ve seen it a couple of times since; I absolutely love the 70s style, and over the years, it has become a global icon.

En esta película el protagonista trabajo para lograr su sueño. Su historia era la de cualquier joven: el trabajo, estudios y disco. Este filme aparece dándole auge e inicio a la música Disco. Algunos consideran que la música disco, ya pasó de moda, pero yo no lo creo así.

The filmmaker's work is admirable, because all the chaos we see on screen is the product of a very planned work that requires hours of rehearsal and coordination.
Maybe if you don't know anything about the TV series, this movie is a bit confusing, because it is specially made to produce nostalgia. See actors playing old sitcom stars, some still alive and some who are no more. John Belushi is one of those stars who faded early and here we will be reminded.
The cast is fantastic. Very great, it would take me a whole post to name each of them and their characters. Now, let's not expect them to go deep. It's a movie that takes place in a single night, so everyone will have their moment.

Lorne Michaels es el protagonista de la película. El creador del programa tiene incluso algunas dudas. Aunque intenta vender el programa como el mejor, parece que no tiene una idea clara de lo que trata el show. Por otra parte, los obstáculos no dejan de presentarse y aumentar. A pocas horas de salir al aire, los problemas se acumulan. Salirse del presupuesto, que el censor vigile y haga cambios en el guión, recortar sketches por falta de tiempo, fallos de sonido e iluminación, burocracia sindical, presiones de los ejecutivos, peleas entre actores y mil problemas más.
La película nos sumerge en esa noche llena de caos. Mucho caos. El cineasta consigue hacernos vivir una locura de principio a fin. El ritmo vertiginoso, la constante aparición de actores para lo que contó con un gran elenco, cada uno con sus minutos para brillar. Pasando de una escena loca a la siguiente. Ciertamente, todo este caos puede abrumar al espectador. A algunos les puede producir rechazo, a otros les ecantara, porque estos desmadres bien coreografiados e interpretados, yo los disfruto bastante.
Muchos travelling y planos secuencia, para acelerar el ritmo y dar esa sensación de desorden, porque siempre está pasando algo. Mucha gente hablando rápido y caminando, una fórmula que funciona. El trabajo del cineasta es admirable, porque todo el caos que vemos en pantalla es producto de un trabajo muy planificado que requiere horas de ensayo y cordinacion.
Quizá si no se conoce nada de la serie de televisión, esta película resulte un poco confusa, porque está hecha especialmente para producir nostalgia. Ver a actores interpretando a viejas estrellas de la comedia, algunos aún vivos y otros que ya no están. John Belushi es una de esas estrellas que se desvaneció pronto y aquí se nos recordará.
El elenco es fantástico. Muy grande, me llevaría un post entero nombrar a cada uno de ellos y sus personajes. Ahora bien, no esperemos que profundicen. Es una película que transcurre en una sola noche, así que cada uno tendrá su momento.

But the one I grew up with, and I copied the moves and listened to the songs was Saturday Night Fever
I was about ten when I first saw some of its scenes and even though the disco craze had passed the songs were familiar to me. And who hadn't heard the songs of the Bee Gees?
I was in the living room of my parents' house trying to imitate Travolta's figures. I didn't always, or rather almost never, succeed. I thought that the problem was that I didn't own a disco ball.
My mom had collected the vases and some other glass bottles from the room, because my attempt to be Travolta had already cost the family two vases (the good ones).
Especially in the scene where she slides on one foot doing a half-spag and twirl, that's where I broke the vase that had been brought as a gift to my parents' wedding.
I wasn't paying that much attention to the case (remember, I was ten years old). I can say with certainty that when I saw it growing up I didn't recognize whole scenes. But I remembered Travolta's dance moves down to the last detail, after trying to copy them.
And when, a little later, I saw the same actor in the Pulp Fiction dancing with Uma Thurman in the cinema, I began to remember how much I loved his dancing moves.
But thank god, this one were easy. No vases were harmed during the choreography of Pulp Fiction.
