Good day everyone, it is a thing of Joy to be part of this contest . To be sincere, this contest actually came as a surprise to me as it was among the least contest I expected but it's cool though, at Least it justify the fact that "one man's food is another man's poison". One particular movie that I really enjoyed and felt that people really hated or should I say disliked is a movie titled "The Box" which aired on 2009 and was directed by Richard Kelly. The movie is a perfect blend of moral dilemma and sci-fi that most people did not find comfortable.

Introduction to the Movie

The movie is centered on 'button button" , a short story by Richard Matheson which revolved around a couple who received a mysterious box with the caption, "press the button , and receive $1million ' both someone you don't know will die.

Plot Overview

The movie was set in the 1970s , Norma and Arthur Lewis , a suburban struggling couple were the main character .

One faithful day , A man named Arlington Steward (a strange looking disfigured man) paid them a visit and introducing the box and the conflicting decision it carries.

As time went on, they began experiencing strange occurrence and in no distance time , the conspiracy behind the true purpose of the box was unveiled.

Human nature, morality, fate , were the main themes portrayed by the movie. The more the couple are closer to making their choice , they always find themselves in between series of events considered to be dangerous.

Why I Like It

Philosophical Depth: A very deep ethical question about human nature as related to selfishness was raised.

Unique Storytelling:

I feel like the storytelling of this movie is unique, the intriguing puzzled built by the narrative of the movie resonates in my mind , although it may sometimes seem a bit slow, I believe the slow and steady tempo is top notch.

Favorite Scenes

The particular scene that resonated me the most is that point when Norma was seen struggling internally as to press the button, but is seen contemplating of pressing the button is worth the consequences of the unknown which shows human weakness and moral conflict coming against each other.

Reviews & Receptions

Although the movie was praised for it's originality, themes, and psychological thriller. Some still say that the execution is uneven and has a s confusing twist. Most of my friends that I shared the movie with actually said that the movie is not just complex, buy also complicated.

I just watched a movie that I thought was very special to me. I have been waiting for this film for a long time, because the main character is my idol. He is Park Chanyeol, the main rapper of the boy group EXO. I have been his fan since five years ago, and this is his first time playing the lead in a Korean movie. Previously he had also been in the main character but in a Chinese movie.

The Box tells the story of a talented young singer who has a big dream to become a great singer and music producer. Jihoon, played by Chanyeol, is an ordinary young man who really likes singing and playing music, but he can't sing in front of a crowd because of stage fright caused by past trauma.

One day he met a music producer who overheard his singing. The producer named Minsu played by Cho dal hwan was finally determined to make Jihoon a singer. Then the two of them went around doing busking from one city to another in South Korea. But unfortunately Jihoon still couldn't overcome his stage fright. During busking he could only sing using a box, because he could not sing in front of many people.

Will Jihoon overcome his stage fright? Can he become a famous singer? I highly recommend this film, especially for those of you who like music. Because this film not only presents a story, but also displays quality music and vocals. Chanyeol, who is really good at playing various musical instruments, is able to play the figure of Jihoon very well. Even though he is a rapper, Chanyeol is indeed famous for his unique vocals and is also good at singing.

I really recommend this movir not because I'm a fan of Chanyeol, but this movie is a very good to watch. just for info, this movie is ranked 1st in the blockbuster movie in South Korea and will be released in more than 30 countries around the world.

Watched the movie "The Box"
I stumbled across this one by accident, probably looked twice at it because it does have Cameron Diaz, and also Frank Langella. The movie is set in the 1970's,a couple played by Norma (Cameron Diaz) and Arthur (James Marsden)receive a visit from Arlington Steward (Frank Langella) where he offers them a choice.
Push the button, you will receive 1 Million dollars in cash, however at the time you push the button, somewhere, someone you don't know dies. They are given 24 hours to decide, if they do not push the button the box goes to someone else, and the new couple are given the same option. Only part of the movie deals with making the decision the other part deals with living with the decision.

I won't go into too much more detail in case you wish to watch it, there is an interesting twist at the end. I do think it is worthwhile to watch, not a masterpiece but still a good film.
