Cuando crees que todo va marchando bien la vida te puede dar un golpe inesperado en segundos, la película Selena publicada en el año 1997 con una duración de 127 minutos, protagonizada por Jennifer López, narra la vida de Selena Quintanilla, una artista reconocida por la comunidad hispana y también en su país de nacimiento, ella era mexicana-americana y de pequeña su padre reconoció el talento que tenía dándole un impulso a seguir cantando para que algún día llegase a la fama. Aunque a Selena le gustaba más cantar en inglés poco a poco entendió que también debía conectar con sus orígenes.

De pequeña estuvo en un grupo musical con sus hermanos llamado Selena y los Dinos que estaba conformado por sus hermanos, a pesar de las dificultades económicas pudieron ir surgiendo con la música hasta lograr atraer la atención del público, Selena era muy coqueta y le gustaba vestir a la moda de la época, aunque a su padre le incomodaba al principio sus atuendos, pero era parte de su identidad al cantar. Pude notar que siempre fueron una familia unida a pesar las exigencias de su padre.

As a child, she was part of a musical group with her siblings called Selena y los Dinos; despite financial hardships, they managed to make their way in the music world and eventually capture the public's attention. Selena had a playful, flirtatious style and loved wearing the fashions of the day—outfits that initially made her father uncomfortable, though they were an integral part of her performing identity. It was evident to me that they were always a close-knit family, despite her father's demanding nature.

Cuando ya Selena era una adulta joven logró alcanzar el éxito, siempre se mantuvo humilde, carismática y alegre, vivió su etapa de encontrar el amor a pesar de las diferencias que tenía su padre, siento que ella tenía una forma especial de conectar con el público, pienso que era muy joven y que si no fuese pasado pasado aquel suceso seguiría con su carrera intacta, para muchos de nosotros aún escuchamos su música principalmente en mi país en días donde hay fiesta y alegría, ya que se puede cantar y bailar.

By the time Selena was a young adult, she had achieved success, yet she always remained humble, charismatic, and cheerful; she experienced falling in love despite her father's objections. I feel she had a special way of connecting with the audience. I believe she was very young, and had that tragic event not occurred, her career would have remained intact. Many of us still listen to her music—especially in my country, during times of celebration and joy—since it is perfect for singing and dancing.

Su historia me deja ver que el esfuerzo si da sus frutos y que a pesar de las condiciones económicas no es impedimento para insistir, solo se debe ser perseverante y constante, aunque su historia termina muy mal siempre la veremos como una mujer hermosa y talentosa y por su puesto su música sigue entre nosotros. Me gustó mucho la película y como le dieron vida a sus canciones y coreografías.

Her story shows me that hard work truly pays off and that economic circumstances are no barrier to persistence—one simply needs to be steadfast and consistent. Although her story had a tragic ending, we will always see her as a beautiful, talented woman, and, of course, her music lives on. I really enjoyed the movie and the way they brought her songs and choreography to life.
