Hello everyone, so today we're as well going into the second part of Anikulapo of which I had earlier talked about its first part. Remember in the first part we talked about Saro, the guy who got equipped with powers to raise the dead and had become very, very popular. But then, his fame and popularity got into his head, and he became proud.
Anikulapo: Rise of the Spectre.
Here in this second part, it shows how Saro, after being sent to the afterlife, had no place there; he was caught in between life and death, and all of this is also as a result of him raising the dead. What I love most about this second part was how that it didn't entirely focus on Saro, but as well on Bashorun Ogunjimi who had returned from the afterlife as a completely different person. And this interests me a lot. Want to know why? Because upon his resurrection, he began to feed on human souls; it just happens to be the only thing he can continue feeding on to survive.
The movie also touches on the beautiful Arolake; we can see her leave her past behind her and move to a different town entirely, but you know, once past, oftentimes it would refuse to let one go. Well, she left her past, but her past refused to leave her.
And to be honest with you, I was very excited to give this second part a watch; you can't help but feel eager to watch it, especially if you watch how the first part ended. And I even got more interested in what's happening and how this movie will end when the Bashorun resurrects but as a soul-feeding ghoul. Sounds interesting, right?
And the movie didn't disappoint me, not until the ending part, though. But before I go there, I would love to make known my pleasure in how much I love the movie settings, the culture, the visuals, the language, and all of that; even the graphics deserve some accolades too. They could have done better, though.
Also, I love the part of Bimbo Ademoye (Arolake) in this movie. She did excellently well, and I love that. The likes of Femi Adebayo, Ogunde and many more also delivered. No doubt.
But then, I almost got confused in the movie, and the reason is that a lot of things were happening together at the same time in this movie. I'm here following through with this ad, trying so hard to relate it to the first part, and in the next minute I'm seeing another storyline again that I'm still struggling to fit in.
Now, the movie itself, I mean this second part was titled "The Ghoul Awakens," and one would expect that since that is the title and the Bashorun happens to be the Ghoul we're are talking about, then the whole movie or the best part of the movie should center around him, so sad it wasn't so. They kept moving away from him at each interval and delving into another one again.
At the end of the movie, I was very, very confused because I still can't pinpoint a thing or get enough answers to my questions. Imagine Saro's fate was still there hanging and the movie ended. How do I describe that? This is not as if there's a third part; there shouldn't even be one, but this, the ending, isn't great at all, considering all the things that had happened in the first part and the second part as well.
