Today I'll share my brief thoughts on a movie I saw last night.
"Lucy"
Written and Directed by Luc Besson one of my favorite director's growing up. He did movies like "Leon", "Nikita" "Subway" "The Fifth Element" and many other classics.
However, he became less active in Directing in the 2000's and began producing more.
Then with Lucy, it was great to see Luc Besson back in shape.
My Favourite film oh his since those first ones in the 90's. (I actually did not know the movie was his until I was holding the DVD in my hands)
Good, but it had the potential to be more. Loved how the film starts and the first half.
It really starts in a great fashion. It's a familiar story ... drug trafficking with young European kids in a distant location... the Korean Mafia and so on...
But it does have a somewhat original voice... and it deals with other more complex thematics.
Personally, I think those thematics could have been used in a more effective way. Like I said, I think it had potential to be a better movie.
Having said that, I did like it.
