"40 Dates and 40 Nights" Review

It's time for a little change, I decided to see a movie from this year and I'll give all the credit to the title for convincing me to see it, I like when I could predict something happening in a movie but never how exactly it would play out and a lot of stories in movies have been like that for me.

I saw this new released movie from June and I didn't think much to have it downloaded because of the title that signals that there would be a love story that will start to be very uncertain and a resolution that it isn't possible. That was exactly what happened but I wasn't expecting how it did.

"40 Dates and 40 Nights" is not the first of it's kind actually, aside that it's the kind of story that a lot of us may have seen in one movie or the other, the first "40 Dates and 40 Nights" was released in 2002 and honestly, I wished I had found it first since I have been loving old movies.

But that's by the way, I still had a good time seeing the newly released and female version of the story. Yeah, the old one is about a guy going on the 40 Dates and 40 Nights but this new release is about a lady going on the 40 Dates and 40 Nights. I might decide to see the old one too.

The story is about a girl who doesn't believe that love exists, accepts her grandmother's wager: to go on 40 Dates and 40 Nights to find true love. If she fails to find love, her rent and student debt will be covered by the grandmother but if she doesn't fail to, she proves herself right about love.

Another thing worthy of note in the arrangement is, she is to be celibate until she finds love or is done with all the dates. The opening scene begins with her in the room of a freak whose condom had burst inside her, she runs off to a pharmacy to get a baby free where she meets embarrassment before she agreed to the wager.

She goes on the 40 dates and on her 20th date, she meets a familiar face from that embarrassment day, a time she'd prefer to forget but the date turns out to be more challenging than every other one, the two couldn't see eye to eye after a brief date talk. They began to meet at random places, helped each other and go on random "not dates" until the 40 dates are done.

I can bet you could already predict that those two would fall in love which means she would find love from the 40 dates but I can also bet you can't picture how it really plays out for the lady who got to face real love, with her belief about love. I'm saying it's a beautiful love story to see.

Although, I'll say some side of the story were kind of ignored, the bestfriend of the lady who is working with her grandmother by informing her what's happening with the date and her love life after she decided to be celibate with her friend. But I also liked the aspect of "finding your thing" and loving it. The movie did taught some lessons.
