I love animation movies, I've seen a lot of them too because I've been seeing so many since I was little but I don't seem to get tired of the upgrade that comes with every new release. Animation movies may be seen as a waste of time to some but honestly, if you would sit to see some really good one, you'll have a lot to learn from some robotic or imaginary characters.
I had some animation movies in my movie list to watch but I've been reluctant in seeing any of them... No, it's not because I wasn't excited about it, it's actually because I was keeping the best for the last haha...
So I was done with the other kinds of movie on the list, I decided to see one of the animated movies which happened to be the one titled "Turning Red". Join me on the movie review and don't be surprised to see yourself watching this movie after reading this review.
Synopsis
Turning red is a 1 hr 40 mins long 2022 pixar film that shows the culture and tradition of a typical Chinese family where the children are expected to always honour their parents no matter.
This movie is about Meilin, a Chinese - American girl who just became an adolescent and is trying so hard to be the perfect daughter to her parents especially her mum. She experiences changes in her behaviour and her emotions where she craved what normal adolescents would crave for as they approach puberty.
She tried so hard to keep it all in but it happened, an old ancestral legacy sufficed and she turns to a big red panda whenever she gets excited.
As if going through puberty wasn't enough, she had to learn to be calm even in the most exciting moments to hide her beast away. How did she handle this? Was she able to become a human again? Would the beast become so evil to humanity?
A dive into the outstanding characters of the movie...
Meilin, the lead character and our beasty. She is an obedient 13 years old girl who wants to live her own life but didn't know how to break loose from her mothers string grip. Her emotions got a big part of her and she's faced with the challenge of hiding her beast (A big cute red panda).
She has three amazing friends, a huge crush on a singer who is part of a popular band. Her mother over protects and watches her, making Meilin wanting to be a perfect daughter around her mum.
Rosalie Chiang is the star behind Meilin's voice and she's an American-Canadian actoress, model and author. Very well known for starring in "Turning red".
Meilin's friends who were also going through the stage of adolescence but Meilin was the focus of the effects it had on them. They got each other back and gave advices to their favourite friend, Meilin.
Mariam, the talkative friend of all Meilin's friends but the most observant and matured among them. She is the first to give advices, dresses differently and knows how to encourage her friend very well. Ava Morse is the star behind Mariam's voice.
Priya, the most calm and quiet among the three. I also think she's boring but surprisingly interesting sometimes too. She's a very good addition to the movie, so I think (for the dynamics or side attractions). Maitreyi Ramakrishnan is the star behind Priya's voice.
Abby, the most fun and aggressive (sometimes) among the three. She is always extra active towards anything the three wants to do, she loved Meilin's red panda fur so much. Hyein Park is the star behind Abby's voice.
Tyler, he's not that much of a lead but I couldn't help but notice how much of his scenes I loved in the movie too. He's the character that portrays bully in high school but is actually a weak little guy going through puberty too. He's a funny, annoying and interesting character, almost a rival to Meilin and her friends. Tristan Allerick Chen is the star behind his voice.
My Thoughts About The Movie
It's an animation movie with so much difference to me. The story line is amazing! Full of lessons to families and little kids who are going through the same situation as Meilin.
The panda was used to describe how scary and big the change is for an adolescence, parents are to understand this and guide them with love while they also allow the kids do what they want sometimes. This movie portrays how bad it is for parents to be total control of their kids, trying to bring up a perfect kid.
When Meilin Is A Beast...
Imagine waking up to see yourself look like this... It was scary for Meilin but it turns out her parents knew about it and didn't think it will happen to her so early. Her desire to be free as an adolescent made it happen too soon.
Her friends were surprised by what she transformed to but they loved her regardless and even took it as an opportunity to make it easier to meet their different crush in the popular singing band.
Going through with the ritual to get rid of the beast was an intriguing scene of the movie I loved most. From the weird song they sang to the decision of Meilin, it was an amazing sight for me and I loved her courage.
And to my favourite scene in Turning Red...
Honestly, I didn't think I would be doing a review on animation movie anytime soon but this scene made me make up my mind to do one for this movie... You can imagine how much I love this scene. I repeated it over and over but couldn't get a fill of it, I think I'm going to see this scene again after writing this.
It's a scene where the weird song sounded better and the "4s Town" boys made a collabo with the panda family to save Meilin's mum from her beast (turns out the mum was a dangerous beast too).
I also loved the part where the little Meilin was opportune to see her mum when she was an adolescence too... It was like going back in time to amend the mistakes of the parents.
Meilin's mum got to reconcile with her own mother and Meilin was allowed to do as she wants while she got to keep her beast self... Would this be for the best? Well, you should see the movie already.
Before I close this to an end, I'll rate this movie a 9/10 for me. It is one of the best animation movies I've seen, I actually thought it was a Chinese based movie but the stars behind it are not although the storyline has Chinese touch to it.
I'll like to recommend the movie to you, I'm sure you would love it if you are an animation movie lover like myself.
Me encantan las películas de animación, también he visto muchas porque he estado viendo muchas desde que era pequeño, pero parece que no me canso de la actualización que viene con cada nuevo lanzamiento. Las películas de animación pueden verse como una pérdida de tiempo para algunos, pero, sinceramente, si te sientas a ver una realmente buena, tendrás mucho que aprender de algunos personajes robóticos o imaginarios.
Tenía algunas películas de animación en mi lista de películas para ver, pero he sido reacio a ver alguna de ellas... No, no es porque no me entusiasmara, en realidad es porque estaba guardando lo mejor para el final jaja ...
Así que terminé con los otros tipos de películas en la lista, decidí ver una de las películas animadas que resultó ser la titulada "Turning Red". Únase a mí en la reseña de la película y no se sorprenda de verse viendo esta película después de leer esta reseña.
Sinopsis
Turning red es una película de Pixar de 2022 de 1 hora y 40 minutos de duración que muestra la cultura y la tradición de una familia china típica donde se espera que los niños siempre honren a sus padres sin importar lo que pase.
Esta película trata sobre Meilin, una niña chino-estadounidense que acaba de convertirse en adolescente y se esfuerza mucho por ser la hija perfecta para sus padres, especialmente para su madre. Ella experimenta cambios en su comportamiento y sus emociones donde anhelaba lo que los adolescentes normales anhelan cuando se acercan a la pubertad.
Se esforzó mucho por mantenerlo todo pero sucedió, un antiguo legado ancestral fue suficiente y se convierte en un gran panda rojo cada vez que se emociona.
Como si pasar por la pubertad no fuera suficiente, tuvo que aprender a estar tranquila incluso en los momentos más emocionantes para esconder a su bestia. * ¿Cómo manejó ella esto? ¿Podía volver a ser humana? ¿Se volvería la bestia tan mala para la humanidad?*
Una inmersión en los personajes destacados de la película...
Meilin, el personaje principal y nuestra bestia. Ella es una niña obediente de 13 años que quiere vivir su propia vida pero no sabía cómo liberarse de las cuerdas de su madre. Sus emociones tienen una gran parte de ella y se enfrenta al desafío de esconder a su bestia (Un panda rojo grande y lindo).
Tiene tres amigos increíbles, está muy enamorada de un cantante que forma parte de una banda popular. Su madre la sobreprotege y la vigila, lo que hace que Meilin quiera ser una hija perfecta con su madre.
Rosalie Chiang es la estrella detrás de la voz de Meilin y es una actriz, modelo y autora estadounidense-canadiense. Muy conocido por protagonizar "Turning red".
Los amigos de Meilin que también estaban pasando por la etapa de la adolescencia pero Meilin era el foco de los efectos que tenía en ellos. Se recuperaron y le dieron consejos a su amiga favorita, Meilin.
Mariam, la amiga habladora de todas las amigas de Meilin pero la más observadora y madura entre ellas. Es la primera en dar consejos, viste diferente y sabe animar muy bien a su amiga. Ava Morse es la estrella detrás de la voz de Mariam.
Priya, la más tranquila y silenciosa de las tres. También creo que es aburrida pero sorprendentemente interesante a veces también. Es una muy buena adición a la película, así que creo (por la dinámica o las atracciones secundarias). Maitreyi Ramakrishnan es la estrella detrás de la voz de Priya.
Abby, la más divertida y agresiva (a veces) entre las tres. Ella siempre es más activa con cualquier cosa que los tres quieran hacer, amaba tanto el pelaje de panda rojo de Meilin. Hyein Park es la estrella detrás de la voz de Abby.
Tyler, no es un gran protagonista, pero no pude evitar notar cuánto de sus escenas también me encantaron en la película. Él es el personaje que interpreta a un matón en la escuela secundaria, pero en realidad es un chico pequeño y débil que también está pasando por la pubertad. Es un personaje divertido, molesto e interesante, casi un rival de Meilin y sus amigos. Tristan Allerick Chen es la estrella detrás de su voz.
Mis pensamientos sobre la película
Es una película de animación con mucha diferencia para mí. ¡La línea de la historia es increíble! Lleno de lecciones para familias y niños pequeños que están pasando por la misma situación que Meilin.
El panda se usó para describir cuán aterrador y grande es el cambio para una adolescencia, los padres deben entender esto y guiarlos con amor mientras también permiten que los niños hagan lo que quieran a veces. Esta película retrata lo malo que es para los padres tener el control total de sus hijos, tratando de criar a un niño perfecto.
Cuando Meilin es una bestia...
Imagínate despertar y verte así... Fue aterrador para Meilin, pero resulta que sus padres lo sabían y no pensaron que le pasaría a ella tan pronto. Su deseo de ser libre como adolescente hizo que sucediera demasiado pronto.
Sus amigos se sorprendieron por lo que se transformó, pero la amaban a pesar de todo e incluso lo aprovecharon como una oportunidad para que fuera más fácil conocer a sus diferentes enamorados en la popular banda de canto.
Llevar a cabo el ritual para deshacerme de la bestia fue una escena intrigante de la película que más me gustó. Desde la extraña canción que cantaron hasta la decisión de Meilin, fue una vista increíble para mí y me encantó su valentía.
Y a mi escena favorita en Turning Red...
Honestamente, no pensé que haría una reseña sobre una película de animación en el corto plazo, pero esta escena me hizo decidirme a hacer una para esta película... Puedes imaginar cuánto amo esta escena. Lo repetí una y otra vez, pero no pude completarlo, creo que volveré a ver esta escena después de escribir esto.
Es una escena en la que la extraña canción sonaba mejor y los chicos de "4s Town" hicieron una colaboración con la familia panda para salvar a la madre de Meilin de su bestia (resulta que la madre también era una bestia peligrosa).
También me encantó la parte donde la pequeña Meilin tuvo la oportunidad de ver a su mamá cuando ella también era adolescente... Fue como retroceder en el tiempo para enmendar los errores de los padres.
La madre de Meilin logró reconciliarse con su propia madre y Meilin pudo hacer lo que quisiera mientras conservaba su forma de bestia... ¿Sería esto lo mejor? Bueno, ya deberías ver la película.
Antes de cerrar esto, calificaré esta película con un 9/10 para mí. Es una de las mejores películas de animación que he visto, en realidad pensé que era una película basada en China, pero las estrellas detrás de ella no lo son, aunque la historia tiene un toque chino.
Me gustaría recomendarte la película, estoy seguro que te encantará si eres un amante de las películas de animación como yo.
