I didn't get this movie on from any recommendation, I saw it among some recent release and I downloaded with the mind that it was a Filipino short movie. I don't know how I thought the characters on the poster images were Filipinos but I love how attract the poster and the title of the movie was so I had it downloaded.
It's been almost two weeks since I downloaded it among other short movies but I got to see it yesterday and I was like "How did I not see it long before now?"
It was a refreshing watch for me as I've been seeing a lot of kdramas before I decided to see it. A fun and interesting love story line...
"Love In Taipei" is a rom-com movie from the best seller novel "Loveboat, Taipei". I wish I've read the novel for better experience with the watch but no much regret since I did enjoy seeing the movie. The storyline goes like...
Ever Wong is sent on a surprise trip to Taipei by her parents to spend her summer. She faces unexpected events unlike what she had imagined before. Ever meets a girl who introduces her to the cousin and she also met a random but handsome guy at a rooftop. The trip that was thought to be a thing about culture because a loveboat.
Breaking rules, having fun, falling in love, facing challenges and self discoveries is all in this movie and our lead (Ever) played an amazing role in all of it.
It started with a simple introduction among two girls but Ever is made to meet her mother's idol making her to think the mother had ulterior motives in sending her to Taipei. I like how they made me believe she will be in love with the guy her mother had set her up with through the trip but in the end, an even better love story was being written.
I like Ever and Sophie pair in a room as Sophie made her try out new things making her realize she is yet to find out what she really wants aside dancing. Yeah, I like the dance part and I like how it brought two love birds together.
Ever and Nico meets at a rooftop while she was rehearsing her dance for an event. It was awkward but it gave me goosebumps as the two got closer to each other in pure intentions but yet to know what decisions to make.
How did the summer trip end for Ever? What did she discover about herself? Who won her heart in the end? You'll need to see the movie to find that out.
The fashion in this movie is one to mention about, the party scenes and explanation of loveboat, all that were memorable for me. I would rate the movie a 8/10 and that is because I feel they fast speed or didn't show some scenes to make the movie more fuller. Aside that, it was still a good watch for me.
