I just finished seeing this movie like 5 minutes ago and I got on Hive to think of what to write I found myself in the movies community so, it would be a first for me reviewing a movie just immediately I finished seeing it. It wasn't recommended to me by anyone but I got it downloaded because of one character I saw.
Ryan Reynolds In A Musicals? You've got to be kidding me! (my thought when I first saw the trailer).
We do know Ryan right and the action movies he's starred on right? Or is it just me? I've always thought he's only the action character and never in a movie like this one but I guess there are surprises when it's about actors.
Release date: 11 November 2022 (USA) Director: Sean Anders Story by: Charles Dickens Music by: Dominic Lewis (score); Pasek and Paul (songs)
It is a musical movie, one of the kind of movies I like and seeing Ryan in it made me think it was definitely a movie I'll love because I've always enjoyed his movies especially the action ones where he somehow makes a joke out of everything. I had bet that this movie won't be any much different with the comedy aspect and it really didn't fail on that, thanks to Ryan and his fellow lead character, Will Ferrell.
The movie is about a group of spirits who had the aim of changing bad people to good every year, the first scene showed a successful project of theirs and they are out to find another bad human who they would turn good. That was when Ryan walked in and showed just how bad he can be by being a rich guy who earns from causing confusion, divisions. I couldn't stop laughing when he succeeded in the first scene he caused problems and was feeling good about it.
Do people really change? Will Ryan change? What would become of him if he changed? You'll have to see the movie for those details and I bet you'll love the scenes that played out to show them.
While I'd want to share more of what the movie really was about, I'd like to leave it to you to be curious and check it out yourself but I won't end this post without talking about Ryan, my favourite character singing and making me laugh all in one movie... It was definitely unexpected and didn't make me regret seeing it.
Ryan played as the bad guy but had different encounters by spirits who are out to make him change. How he made one of the spirits change when he was the one to change cracked me up big time. He didn't fail to show his bad ways in every encounter and proved all their plans abortive until the very end.
I like how he connected so well with Will Ferrell, they both make a good team for music and comedy. The movie even showed a romantic side with Will, a spirit falling in love with a human who eventually started to see him which was against the norm. I find all that thrilling but not as much as I did when I saw Ryan actually singing! Lol.
I know it's almost normal that everyone can sing but I hope it isn't so weird that I am more surprised that our Ryan, the same lead character in "Dead pool, Red notice, Adam's project" is singing in a musical movie. His humour didn't change, his funny faces and how he talks didn't change but there were no real actions like I have known to see him in.
In any case, I enjoyed my time seeing this and I'll recommend it to anyone looking for a musical movie with comedy and thrills to see, Ryan on this one is a big boost if you ask me. Or am I the only huge fan of this guy? Haha, there's no movie I've seen him in that I don't love and rate high, he's a good one.
Do check it out or if you've seen it, let's chat in the comment section. I'll give this one a rating of 9/10, I love the movie.
