  1. Spirited - "𝑹𝒚𝒂𝒏 𝑹𝒆𝒚𝒏𝒐𝒍𝒅𝒔 𝑰𝒏 𝑨 𝑴𝒖𝒔𝒊𝒄𝒂𝒍𝒔" Movie Review@merit.ahama1059d

I just finished seeing this movie like 5 minutes ago and I got on Hive to think of what to write I found myself in the movies community so, it would be a first for me reviewing a movie just immediately I finished seeing it. It wasn't recommended to me by anyone but I got it downloaded because of one character I saw.

Ryan Reynolds In A Musicals? You've got to be kidding me! (my thought when I first saw the trailer).

We do know Ryan right and the action movies he's starred on right? Or is it just me? I've always thought he's only the action character and never in a movie like this one but I guess there are surprises when it's about actors.

Release date: 11 November 2022 (USA) Director: Sean Anders Story by: Charles Dickens Music by: Dominic Lewis (score); Pasek and Paul (songs)

It is a musical movie, one of the kind of movies I like and seeing Ryan in it made me think it was definitely a movie I'll love because I've always enjoyed his movies especially the action ones where he somehow makes a joke out of everything. I had bet that this movie won't be any much different with the comedy aspect and it really didn't fail on that, thanks to Ryan and his fellow lead character, Will Ferrell.

The movie is about a group of spirits who had the aim of changing bad people to good every year, the first scene showed a successful project of theirs and they are out to find another bad human who they would turn good. That was when Ryan walked in and showed just how bad he can be by being a rich guy who earns from causing confusion, divisions. I couldn't stop laughing when he succeeded in the first scene he caused problems and was feeling good about it.

Do people really change? Will Ryan change? What would become of him if he changed? You'll have to see the movie for those details and I bet you'll love the scenes that played out to show them.

While I'd want to share more of what the movie really was about, I'd like to leave it to you to be curious and check it out yourself but I won't end this post without talking about Ryan, my favourite character singing and making me laugh all in one movie... It was definitely unexpected and didn't make me regret seeing it.

Ryan played as the bad guy but had different encounters by spirits who are out to make him change. How he made one of the spirits change when he was the one to change cracked me up big time. He didn't fail to show his bad ways in every encounter and proved all their plans abortive until the very end.

I like how he connected so well with Will Ferrell, they both make a good team for music and comedy. The movie even showed a romantic side with Will, a spirit falling in love with a human who eventually started to see him which was against the norm. I find all that thrilling but not as much as I did when I saw Ryan actually singing! Lol.

I know it's almost normal that everyone can sing but I hope it isn't so weird that I am more surprised that our Ryan, the same lead character in "Dead pool, Red notice, Adam's project" is singing in a musical movie. His humour didn't change, his funny faces and how he talks didn't change but there were no real actions like I have known to see him in.

In any case, I enjoyed my time seeing this and I'll recommend it to anyone looking for a musical movie with comedy and thrills to see, Ryan on this one is a big boost if you ask me. Or am I the only huge fan of this guy? Haha, there's no movie I've seen him in that I don't love and rate high, he's a good one.

Do check it out or if you've seen it, let's chat in the comment section. I'll give this one a rating of 9/10, I love the movie.

  2. Spirited: a different story [ENG/ESP]@neiraurdaneta1280d

Hello friends, welcome to my blog, I hope you all have a great Christmas. For me, these dates are to spend it at home, with family and close friends. One of our traditions is that the next day we do marathons of classic and new Christmas movies. One of the best known classics and one of which there are hundreds of movies for film and TV is "A Christmas Carol" by Charles Dickens, which I must confess is one of my favorite stories, so when I saw that there was a new version based on this story it was one of my first choices for the family marathon on Sunday.

This film inspired by this Dickens classic, surprised me by the constant twists in its plot, but despite this it does not lose the essence of the meaning of Christmas. Directed by Sean Anders and John Morris, this modern take on the classic does it differently, incorporating music as an important element to tell the story and somewhat black humor to poke fun at the stereotypes of what Christmas should be. I loved the way the story was approached without losing the magic or the essence of what this classic represents. The performances of Ryan Reynolds, as the ambitious businessman who all he cares about is money and always winning, is contrasted with a Will Ferrell, who feels identified with him and his past. I loved both characters and you can feel the chemistry between the characters.

The story, which at the beginning begins as the Dickens classic, quickly mutates into something different, but not bad, on the contrary, I think it adapts to the modern reality of our time. Although I am not very given to musicals in movies, this one feels good and adds a touch where young and old can enjoy it. The best thing about this film for me were the twists in the plot and the ending, it didn't stick to the expected and that made it interesting and innovative from all the previous films based on this Dickens' classic.

Finally, if you are looking for something light, entertaining and you don't hate musicals, this is an excellent option to watch, the best thing is that it combines very well the musical part with the non-musical part, without being invasive and without being pure music, that balances it well and that is why I liked it even though it is a musical. The negative, perhaps for some, is that it doesn't stick to the original classic, it incorporates modern elements, it musicalizes part of the story. For me, what some may take as a negative, is what makes it different from other "A Christmas Carol" films, that detail is what makes it stand out. It is not a masterful film, but one worth watching.

  3. Spirited (2022), Movie Review.@esther-emmanuel1300d

    Spirited-450915456-mmed.jpg

I am not really a fan of Musicals, but after watching Spirited (2022) I was impressed and uplifted. It is amazing to see Ryan Reynolds on the screen again since Adam's Project and I must say his performance in this movie was spectacular. When you watch this movie you get to see another side of Reynolds as an actor.

Are you a lover of Musicals, don't go yet, stick around for this movie is for you. Spirited is an American Christmas-themed, musical, and comedy film. The movie was directed by Sean Anders and it's a modern retelling of Charles Dickens's 1843 novella titled A Christmas Carol where we have Will Ferrell and Ryan Reynolds be the lead characters alongside Octavia Spencer.

    IMG_20221203_165431.jpg

    IMG_20221203_165749.jpg

This movie is about Christmas Carol whereby each Christmas eve of a year, the ghost of the Christmas present selects one dark soul on earth to be reformed into a good soul through visitation from three spirits (Christmas Past, Present, and yet-to-come) and help from all afterlife spirits. We were meant to understand that the Ghost of Christmas present (Scrooge) was due for retirement decades ago but refused to do so even with the possibility of a chance to live a new life on earth.

    IMG_20221203_165609.jpg

Scouting for a new soul to redeem on earth, the three Ghosts of Christmas came across Clint, a famous controversial media consultant who is deemed unredeemable by the afterlife association. Scrooge was highly convinced that Clint was the soul they were looking for and needed for a massive ripple of goodness and kindness in the world. With much persuasion from Scrooge, the afterlife association took on Clint as the soul to work on and redeem for Christmas eve.

    IMG_20221203_165320.jpg

    IMG_20221203_170131.jpg

As the preparation to redeem Clint's soul began, Scrooge saw the ugly side of him when Clint was helping his Niece figure out a way to win her class election. Finally, Scrooge got the chance to interact with Clint one-on-one which made him realize that Clint is going to be an almost impossible soul to redeem. This made Scrooge question his life and existence which is why he thinks, was he really redeemed? Will Scrooge succeed in his assignment? Will Clint give him the chance to redeem his soul? Will Clint accept the change?

My Opinion About The Movie And Rating.

I have watched a few Christmas movies that have retold Charles Dickens's book and they were all not interesting to me, but you see this movie, it deserves an award. This movie is a fantastic and thrilling Christmas movie. It stands out from other movies and is unique in its own way. I won't forget this movie because it is one of the best Christmas movies I have watched since 2010. It will be a Christmas classic that will never age and only become more revered as the years go by.

    Positives

Spirited, retells Dickens's Christmas Carol story in a unique way and totally different from other movies based on this story by looking at the story more from the Ghosts perspective. There was also a captivating twist that involves the origin of Scrooge's character and his actual identity, like where he actually came from, and his background story in the movie. In the movie, we got to know that the Classic Christmas Carol story was centered around him.

At first, I didn't want to watch this movie because I am not a fan of Will Farrel's works, but then I couldn't resist Ryan Reynolds' face on the movie poster so I went for it. I must say, Ryan Reynolds and Will Ferrel are iconic duos in this movie. Their chemistry is fantastic and flows well in each scene they appear. Now I am starting to think that they both can make more movies.

Octavia Spencer's performance in this movie was amazing! She always has a good screen presence, but in this movie, she was able to command attention from the audience while sharing the spotlight with others without overshadowing any of their performances. Then I love her chemistry with Scrooge. One could feel the connection between them even with the awkwardness. Their romance wasn't forced but flowed well with the scenes, but then I was praying during their " about to kiss scene" that they don't kiss, and bam! It happened. I am glad it didn't go further😁. All the characters did amazingly well as their performances flowed effortlessly.

    IMG_20221203_165523.jpg

    IMG_20221203_170222.jpg

What stood out to me in this movie was the music. Wow! I was super impressed with it. The songs were written by Justin Paul and Benj Pasek. The music had a stage-like performance added to it and all the music was performed with good dancers, and choreographers to top it up, TAP DANCE! Anytime the music scenes start, you would get your attention drawn to the background dancers and the singers. The singing and dancing happen effortlessly, it flows naturally with the plot and it doesn't seem awkward or weird like in some musicals. Octavia Spencer surprised me with her singing, I never thought she could pull off a thing like that. Then Ryan, who would ever think that the funny guy could sing? His performance with the singing and dancing was good.

    Negatives

As they say, no one or nothing is perfect, there will always be some imperfections. Despite the fact that this movie is good, it still had some flaws which I will be talking about here. Yes, the movie is a comedy, but it didn't dig deep into that aspect. I was thinking with Ferrell and Reynolds there would be some comedic gold but no. The comedy rate in this movie is below average.

This movie's running time is about 2 hrs or more but I feel that it could have been compressed or shortened to an hour plus. I say this because some scenes in the movie dragged so much that it was starting to cringe me out and made me start to check how many minutes are left from the running time.

They say it is a family show, but it is not family-friendly as there were some inappropriate dialogues in the movie that are not meant for children's ears. So I think this movie is meant for teenagers and adults.

    Ratings and Recommendations.

In conclusion, this movie is enjoyable, and a good watch for the family while the children are asleep. You know what I mean. The music was infectious, thrilling, and melodious. The dancing and choreography were amazing. Rating this movie, I give it 3.5 stars out of 5 stars.

Recommending this movie to Christmas movie lovers and Movie Musicals lovers. It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas.

  4. A Retelling With A Twist —Review Of Spirited (2022)@kemmyb1313d

    Source

Give me a Ryan Reynolds film any day and I'll watch it without delay! Imagine my excitement when I saw this Christmas movie on the streaming site that I use. No movie producer or director ever gets it wrong with this iconic actor, he's just that good (in my opinion). His humour and charisma make his films fascinating and watchworthy. Plus, he's good-looking!

Unlike the usual predictable festive films that Hallmark and Lifetime channels pump out every year that have become quite boring, this one is certainly going to be a classic. Not because Ryan Reynolds is in it (though it's a major part of the reason), but because the musical numbers and choreographies are outstanding. I understand some critics have mixed reviews about it.

So far in the past two weeks, I have watched about three movies that are a retelling of the popular Charles Dicken A Christmas Carol (1843) story, one of the most remarkable stories in literary history that have been retold and reworked in many ways. Maybe it's a theme for Hollywood this year but Spirited (2022) gives this popular story a new and thrilling light.

If you are familiar with A Christmas Carol story, you'll know there's usually a Scrooge (a miserly and mean person in need of a change) and three Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and Future (who work to change the Scrooge).

In this musical comedy, Clint Briggs (played by Ryan Reynolds) is the Scrooge deemed to be unredeemable by the afterlife spirits. But Ebenezer Scrooge (played by Will Ferrell) is the Ghost of Christmas Present and believes Clint can change. When he begins to relate with Clint, Ebenezer realises he has taken up a very hard if not impossible task and thereby evaluates his own life. Will Ebenezer succeed in changing Clint Briggs into a better person?

    Review

This is one Christmas movie that I believe won't age as the years go by. It's that good and enchanting! It stands out from other retellings with the major twist of Clint turning the tables on Ebenezer, the Ghost of Christmas Present, and getting him to question his past, present and future. That's never been done in the retellings I've watched.

The cast is great and has good synergy. Ryan Reynolds and Will Ferrel are a fantastic duo and make a great fit. Octavia Spencer is a delightful gift in this film. Her performance is commendable. She's like that soft glue that binds Ryan and Will together, making their story perfect. Who knew she could sing? Or more like who knew any of them could sing so beautifully?

I love the way the cast handled the music and danced with heart and excitement. Their voices were sweet, soulful and compelling such that you want to keep watching them sing. I re-watched the musical and dance scenes again after the movie ended.

A fascinating part of this film is the choreography. The ensemble of dancers is energetic, showing off a variety of moves syncing with the beats and dozens of flashlights. I love the tap dancing more. I can't imagine the work that went into this production.

So if you want something that will put you in the holiday mood with some good laughs, then I'll recommend this film. It's a light-hearted and fun watch for the family. The dance scenes, sparkling set designs, lyrics, witty scenes thanks to Ryan Reynolds, great acting and fantastic location selection make it watchworthy.

I'm definitely adding this film to my holiday favourites. If you have watched it, let me know your thoughts in the comments.
