Siguiendo uno de los temas más polémicos, pero al mismo tiempo más seguidos en el cine norteamericano, el racismo y la desigual de las diferentes etnias del país, esta vez nos cuentan la corta vida y muerte de Fred Hampton, uno de los líderes del movimiento panteras negras en Massachusetts, justo después del asesinato de Martin Luther King y Malcom X.

La historia se centra en William O’Neal (Lakeith Stainfield) quien era un ladrón de autos con un método inteligente, pues se hacía pasar como agente de FBI, decía que el auto está solicitado como robado y se iba del lugar sin más. Para su mala suerte un día es atrapado por un agente real del FBI, Roy Mitchell (Jesse Plemons) quien le ofrece ser un agente encubierto en los pantera negras, a cambio de su libertad.

Luego pasamos a conocer al gran Fred Hampton (Daniel Kaluuya), viendo su pasión y lo comprometido que está con su causa, al igual que está dispuesto a llegar hasta el final con tal de lograr un cambio para sus hermanos. Vemos como influencia y gana seguidores, como intenta conseguir más aliados, como se enamora, como va a la cárcel, como pierde todo y lo recupera, y al final como muere de una horrible manera, todo gracias a que cada movimiento que hizo ya era conocido de antemano.

Las actuaciones fueron sin lugar a duda lo mejor del filme, especial mención a Daniel Kaluuya, que con sus discursos llenos de pasión y revolución, pueden abstraerte en sus palabras, demostrando que está hecho para más papeles protagonistas, Lakeith Stainfield también lo hizo muy bien, se siente el dolor y remordimiento por la traición que está cometiendo, aunque se ve muy opacado por el trabajo de Kaluuya, y en cuanto a Jesse Plemons, siempre me incómoda en pantalla, no sé cuándo tendrá un arranque agresivo y acabara con todo, pero eso juega para bien en la cinta.
The performances were without a doubt the best of the film, special mention to Daniel Kaluuya, who with his speeches full of passion and revolution, can abstract you in his words, showing that he is made for more leading roles, Lakeith Stainfield also did very well , you feel the pain and remorse for the betrayal he is committing, although he is very overshadowed by Kaluuya's work, and as for Jesse Plemons, he always makes me uncomfortable on screen, I don't know when he will have an aggressive start and end everything, but that plays out for the good on the tape.

Los personajes secundarios como Martin Sheen y Dominique Fishback van bien con la trama, ayudan a que se desarrolle, aunque siento que les faltaría agregar algo más, en especial con la última mencionada. Los ambientes que se manejan también estuvieron muy bien, manejando un gama de colores y escenarios dignos de una historia que transcurre en los años 60.
The secondary characters like Martin Sheen and Dominique Fishback go well with the plot, they help it develop, although I feel that they would need to add something else, especially with the last one mentioned. The environments that are managed were also very good, handling a range of colors and scenarios worthy of a story that takes place in the 60s.
Lo más negativo a mi parecer fue la falta de acción y la lentitud de algunas escenas, pues aquí se trata de construir algo más inteligente, pero como un buen espectador me esperaba que hubiera guerra desde el inicio hasta el final, aunque al final me gusto un poco que se centrará más en la lucha en las calles y de entender cuál realmente era el conflicto que tenían aquellos personajes. Lo mismo pienso del guión, que a mi parecer en algunas escenas le faltó pisar un poco más el acelerador.
The most negative thing in my opinion was the lack of action and the slowness of some scenes, because here it is about building something more intelligent, but as a good spectator I expected that there would be war from the beginning to the end, although in the end I liked it a bit that will focus more on fighting in the streets and understanding what the conflict that those characters really had was. The same I think of the script, which in my opinion in some scenes it lacked to step on the accelerator a little more.
En conclusión, es una película muy buena, con mucha inteligencia detrás, que busca que entendamos el problema de la desigualdad en América, con unas actuaciones muy buenas, pero que le faltó algo para llegar a ser de esas que se queden en tu cabeza por mucho tiempo, de verdad muy recomendable.
