En esta película no verás nada completamente novedoso, pero la forma en que se cuenta la historia y la forma en la que abordan los problemas de la transexualidad en los niños, cuando aún son muy jóvenes para poder entender que es correcto y que no según la sociedad y su género, me parece que es donde se encuentra el alma de esta cinta.

Y es que todo gira en torno a Palmer (Justin Timberlake), un ex deportista que por cometer un crímen y no delatar a sus cómplices, es enviado a prisión por 12 años. Al salir vuelve a la casa de su abuela Vivienne (June Squibb), quien vive al lado de una adicta a la drogas y su pequeños niño Sam (Ryder Allen), quien gracias a que es muy extravagante y muy diferente a los demás niños, recibe mucho bullying por parte de niños de su edad y hasta de adultos.
