It's been a long time since I have watched a TV-Series. It's kinda hard to find suitable free time to invest in, some people take a long time to finish a series, maybe one or two episodes per day. But I don't do it that way, whenever I start a series and dive into the story then there is no way back. "Just one more episode" and suddenly you notice that you are in a trap, it's already morning, like I was in that trap throughout the whole night and got some freedom now.
So this time I was watching "The Witcher" which is a fantasy tv-series, created by Lauren Schmidt and first aired in 2019 on Netflix. This one's from the book with the same name written by Andrzej Sapkowski. Here I am, just finished watching the first season.
"People linked by destiny will always find each other."
Starting with a quote from the ending scenes, this quote connects two dots from our story, two key characters, who were running for their destiny.
Okay, the most hyped character, for which I was convinced to start this is Henry Cavill as Geralt of Rivia, a witcher. In the beginning, he was introduced to us as a monster killer, he who kills them for money and makes his living. Slowly but steadily we got more from him apart from this, his destiny knocking for something greater purpose to be served. To be honest, his expressions caught my attention the most, a heavy weighted dialogue with those eyes and white hair, his action scenes with the sword was enough to satisfy me.
Second character that I might admire the most is Anya Chalotra as Yennefer. Well, the way she was introduced to us didn't draw any special attention of mine in her first scenes but as the story moved on and her transformation was mind-blowing, I kinda got a crush on her. Never mind, these happen and fade away too.
Well, the third key character is Freya Allen as Ciri, who got orphaned due to war and is on the run to meet her destiny. The whole season she spent running from her enemies and searching for it, her destiny. We might see strong scenes from her in the next season, this time we only saw this character being grown up with the others.
Actually, initially in this kinda series, the first few seasons take the time to build up the characters properly, to make the plot well-established and take us to the depth of everything. In the first season, my experience wasn't really bad, got to see monsters, witchers, dragons, mages, and humans. Politics, Power, Destiny, and war were also the driving force of the first season, giving the taste of all of them. In the middle, I was distracted a little bit with its changing timeline and then it got aligned perfectly, I loved the way all the story pieces were placed later to make it more enjoyable. Like GOT, we are seeing clashes for thrones, one is done, many more to come.
So the story just began, I guess a lot more is yet to come. There is a second season of this aired so far, I am obviously going for that too. Season three is under production so after the next season I have to sit in the waiting seat. I don't know how much temptation the second one is going to create at the end. From my experience so far I have always seen these kinds of series generate more temptation with time, more thrilling one after another, the deeper we go into the story the more eager we become. As for now, we have seen the destiny of the two leading characters get met, so the second one is surely going to be much more enjoyable as per my expectations.
