Geralt deberá hacer frente a su destino protegiendo a Ciri de nuevos enemigos... "The Witcher"
Ya hace un mes fue el estreno de la segunda temporada de **"The Witcher"**, como sabrán esta serie es basada en una serie de libros llamados de la misma forma que está serie y que también cuenta con una serie de juegos de video; era de esperar que Netflix seguiría explotando las aventuras de este personaje, ya que da mucha posibilidad para seguir creciendo y crear hasta un universo dentro de este mundo de fantasías, recordemos que está serie comenzó en el 2019 y mientras sus muchos seguidores esperaron un rápido estreno de la segunda temporada, la aparición del Covid-19 y lesiones de su protagonista detuvieron por momentos el desarrollo de esta esperada continuación y es por eso que desde esta importante compañía de streaming se decidió darle más profundidad estrenando un film animado llamado "The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf" en dónde se explora el origen del mentor de Geralt y que también sirve como precuela de la misma serie, creo que fue una gran idea porque nos da idea de lo que no se depende tanto de la serie aunque sigue siendo el proyecto principal.

Already a month ago was the premiere of the second season of **"The Witcher"**, as you may know this series is based on a series of books called the same way as this series and also has a series of video games; it was expected that Netflix would continue to exploit the adventures of this character, as it gives much possibility to continue to grow and create even a universe within this fantasy world, remember that this series began in 2019 and while his many followers expected a quick release of the second season, the appearance of Covid-19 and injuries of its protagonist stopped for moments the development of this expected continuation and that is why from this important streaming company decided to give it more depth by releasing an animated film called "The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf" where the origin of Geralt's mentor is explored and also serves as a prequel to the same series, I think it was a great idea because it gives us an idea of what is not so dependent on the series although it is still the main project.
Para esta segunda temporada tenía muchas expectativas sobre esta serie, siempre pensé que la temporada anterior el presupuesto fue poco y algunas criaturas, monstruos no se veían muy bien, más que nada los hechos por CGI, los demás en dónde el uso de maquillaje, prótesis, esos sí que me gustó, pero de igual forma creía que se puede hacer un mejor trabajo y justamente eso se ha visto en varias escenas se disfrute tanto del uso de criaturas creadas desde el diseño de animatronics como el del uso del CGI, esto preferiblemente en los monstruos y en importantes escenas en dónde podemos notar claramente un mejor diseño, a este sumo los exteriores en dónde fueron filmadas muchas escenas, son muy buenas y tal vez el tiempo que se tomó para la realización de esta segunda temporada les dio tiempo de buscar excelentes lugares.
For this second season I had high expectations about this series, I always thought that the previous season the budget was low and some creatures, monsters did not look very good, mostly those made by CGI, the others where the use of makeup, prosthetics, those I did like, but I also believed that you can do a better job and just that has been seen in several scenes enjoy both the use of creatures created from the design of animatronics and the use of CGI, this preferably in the monsters and in important scenes where we can clearly notice a better design, at the same time the exteriors where many scenes were filmed, are very good and perhaps the time taken for the realization of this second season gave them time to look for excellent locations.
La historia es lo que tiene cosas muy positivas y otras no tanto, empezaré con lo positivo, en la anterior temporada en la mayoría de los episodios era el clásico enfrentamiento entre los héroes y el monstruo de turno, eso en una parte, ya que la historia se divide en los caminos que transitan Geralt, Yennefer y Ciri, es por eso que pasamos los episodios de la temporada pasada entre Geralt vs. monstruos y Ciri tratando de encontrar su destino; en esta segunda temporada vemos a Geralt enfrentando su destino el cual es proteger a Ciri y por eso debe enfrentar las consecuencias de la aparición de los poderes de esta joven princesa y es ahí en dónde la historia en esta segunda temporada es diferente, no vemos a un hombre solitario en su misión de cazar monstruos, sino en proteger a quien el destino lo convirtió en su protector, esto hace que la historia sea de una interacción entre "Padre e hija" en dónde un guerrero tratara de enseñar a una chica a defenderse tal como él lo hace, hasta ahí todo bien en la historia, ahora lo malo o lo que menos me ha gustado es sobre la otra historia que se desarrolla a la par de la Geralt y Ciri, una en dónde al principio está envuelta Yennefer, pero después se enfoca en dos personajes, una que ya hizo presencia en la primera temporada como una principal antagonista, "Fringilla Vigo" y la otra es un nuevo personaje que hace su estreno en esta segunda temporada, Francesca Findabair, una hechicera Elfo que podrá ser de gran importancia para su pueblo, la historia de ambas mujeres es extremadamente aburrido y creo que se le da mucha importancia aunque sí a la vez reconozco que para lo que sucede en los dos episodios finales tiene importancia, pero lo que quiero decir es que el desarrollo de sus historias no son las mejores e hizo que por momentos perdiera el interés por la historia.
The story is what has very positive things and others not so much, I'll start with the positive, in the previous season in most of the episodes was the classic confrontation between the heroes and the monster on duty, that in one part, since the story is divided into the paths that travel Geralt, Yennefer and Ciri, that's why we spent last season's episodes between Geralt vs. monsters and Ciri trying to find her destiny; in this second season we see Geralt facing his destiny which is to protect Ciri and therefore must face the consequences of the appearance of the powers of this young princess and that is where the story in this second season is different, we do not see a lonely man in his mission to hunt monsters, This makes the story an interaction between "Father and daughter" where a warrior tries to teach a girl to defend herself as he does, so far so good in the story, now the bad thing or what I liked the least is about the other story that develops alongside the Geralt and Ciri, one where at the beginning Yennefer is involved, but then it focuses on two characters, one that already made her presence in the first season as a main antagonist, "Fringilla Vigo" and the other is a new character that makes her debut in this second season, Francesca Findabair, an Elf sorceress that could be of great importance for her people, the story of both women is extremely boring and I think it is given too much importance although yes at the same time I recognize that for what happens in the final two episodes has importance, but what I mean is that the development of their stories are not the best and made me lose interest in the story at times.
Las actuaciones no diré que son especiales porque para ser sincero, no lo son, se que Henry Cavill hace una buena interpretación de Geralt of Rivia y puede ser que muestre más emoción por su relación con Ciri, pero tampoco es para exaltar su trabajo y de igual forma ocurre con los demás personajes, tal vez esto sea otro punto débil de esta serie, no hay un verdadero peso en la actuación, no hay nadie que resulte realmente el umbral para que los demás sientan que pueden ser importantes, tal vez en esto tenga culpa los diferentes directores en cada uno de los episodios, también el guion no ayuda a ninguno de estos actores y creo que es algo que deberían mejorar para las futuras temporadas.
The performances I will not say they are special because to be honest, they are not, I know that Henry Cavill makes a good interpretation of Geralt of Rivia and may be that he shows more emotion for his relationship with Ciri, but it is not to exalt his work and similarly happens with the other characters, perhaps this is another weak point of this series, there is no real weight in the acting, there is no one who is really the threshold for the others to feel that they can be important, perhaps this is the fault of the different directors in each of the episodes, also the script does not help any of these actors and I think it is something that should be improved for future seasons.
A pesar de muchas quejas que pueda tener, la temporada me ha gustado, creo que sí en vez de ocho episodios se tendría seis, tal vez sería mejor, una historia directa a pesar de las intrigas, traiciones, batallas que se puedan tener, al tener menos episodios tal vez haya menos relleno y hasta mejor desarrollo de los personajes, en realidad creo que se debería tener mejores guionistas que le den un verdadero peso no solo a nuestros héroes, sino a los villanos, creo que de ellos está lo que en realidad necesita está historia que tiene buenas escenas de acción, mejoraron algo en el CGI, Cavill, Anya Chalotra y Freya Allan son perfectos en sus personajes y no puedo olvidar a Joey Batey como "Jaskier" el cual es un divertido personaje; de igual forma debo decir que estaré muy pendiente de los futuros proyectos dentro de este universo de The Witcher, sé que en este año se estrena miniserie llamada "The Witcher: Blood Origin" una precuela que de alguna forma estará unida a lo que podríamos ver en próximas temporadas.
Despite many complaints that I may have, I liked the season, I think that if instead of eight episodes we would have six, maybe it would be better, a direct story despite the intrigues, betrayals, battles that can be had, by having fewer episodes maybe there is less padding and even better character development, I really think they should have better scriptwriters to give a real weight not only to our heroes, but to the villains, I think they are what this story really needs, it has good action scenes, they improved something in the CGI, Cavill, Anya Chalotra and Freya Allan are perfect in their characters and I can not forget Joey Batey as "Jaskier" which is a fun character; Likewise I must say that I will be very attentive to future projects within this universe of The Witcher, I know that this year is released miniseries called "The Witcher: Blood Origin" a prequel that somehow will be linked to what we could see in future seasons.
