Twenty-one years after Avatar: The Last Airbender aired on Nickelodeon, and nearly eleven years after I made my series of reviews of it, I still consider this an untainted treasure, masterpiece, and overall exciting experience worth remembering and cherishing.
›My Opinion of The Avatar: The Last Airbender/Mi Opinión de El Avatar: La leyenda de Aang [ENG/ESP]@yasmarit169d
Hello dear friends of @MoviesTvShows, greetings and blessings, on this occasion I come to talk to you about a series that I loved very much, this live-action of a comic that I saw so long ago and that, although there were other live-action that tried to recreate it, I must say that this is the one that I liked the most and I feel that it has adapted very well to the essence of the story that I saw when I was a girl and that it brings back fond memories, it is about The Avatar: The Last Airbender or Avatar: The last airbender.
It is the story of Aang (Gordon Cornier), a young boy who belonged to the village of the Air Nation, since in his time there were 4 tribes, according to the 4 types of elements, Air, fire, water and earth, each one had its teachers who focused on an element according to the tribe to which it belonged, but there was a person called the Avatar, who was capable of controlling the 4 elements, of course that person could be born in one of the nations, learn from the one he was born to and then the rest, every so often. cycle after they died the new avatar was born in another of the tribes, and for this occasion Aang was the new Avatar.
But as a result of certain events and at the same time out of revenge and desire for power by the fire tribe, the air benders disappear, leaving only Aang, and a long time passes until he returns to the world, a place where no one considers the avatar due to the war that originated, where the fire nation has wanted to subdue the rest of the elements, Aang among all the chaos that was taking place, being responsible for it and looking for a way to solve it, he meets two young people who will become his great friends, Katara (Kiawertiio) a young girl who will become a waterbender and her older brother Sokka (Ian Ousley), all join the adventure so that Avatar Aang learns the remaining elements and can put an end to the tyranny that the fire nation presents.
Although not everything will be very easy, because he will have to try to stay alive along the way, support the people he meets along the way, fight so that Zuko (Dallas Liu), the prince of the fire nation, does not capture him and give his best, even if his confidence is on the ground, since for Aang the world he is in should not exist, disappearing all that time caused a lot of damage and losses, he feels that even his ancestors claim him, but he will learn that the past is already, What matters is finding a solution to the future, managing to save those who remain and having the confidence in what he learns to do the right thing, that with his friends he can have a chance to become a true Avatar. It has its first season of 8 episodes.

By 2010, M. Night Shyamalan, once hailed as the toast of Hollywood following smashing success of The Sixth Sense, became the punchline of the industry with a series of films that were collectively perceived as progressively worse. Despite his reluctance to yield to criticism, Shyamalan decided to deviate from his usual formula and adapt a popular source material: the animated television series Avatar: The Last Airbender. Unfortunately, the resulting film, The Last Airbender, became one of the most infamous flops of the previous decade and marked a new low for Shyamalan's career.
Set in a fantastical world influenced by various Asian mythologies, The Last Airbender introduces audiences to a realm where different tribes possess the ability to manipulate one of four elements: fire, water, earth, and air. The Fire Nation seeks to dominate the other nations, igniting war across the land. Central to the plot are Katara (played by Nicole Peltz) and her brother Sokka (played by Jackson Rathbone), members of the Southern Water Tribe who stumble upon Aang (played by Noah Ringer), a young boy from the Air Nomads who has been in hibernation for a century. Unbeknownst to him, Aang is the last surviving Airbender and potentially the Avatar—a figure capable of bending all four elements. This revelation makes him a target for General Iroh (played by Shaun Toub) and Prince Zuko (played by Dev Patel) of the Fire Nation, who are determined to capture him.
The ambition behind The Last Airbender was considerable; produced by Paramount Pictures with a substantial budget, it was initially conceived as the first part of a trilogy that would adapt each season of the original series. Although it achieved decent box office returns—grossing approximately $320 million against its $150 million budget—critical reception was overwhelmingly negative. Fans of the original series were particularly vocal in their disdain for Shyamalan's interpretation, leading to widespread derision and even multiple Razzies. In subsequent years, many involved distanced themselves from the project, highlighting its failure as a significant blemish on their careers.
Surprisingly, those who approach the film with an open mind might find it has some redeeming qualities. Shyamalan's direction seems to handle the large budget well, with decent CGI effects, interesting production design, and excellent cinematography by Andrew Lesnie that utilizes bright colors to bring the fictional world to life. In comparison to many similar fantasy blockbusters, the film's world appears vibrant and engaging.
However, Shyamalan made a critical error in his adaptation: he imposed an arbitrary runtime limit of 90 minutes on a story that deserved far more time for development. Attempting to condense the intricate narrative of an entire season into such a brief format resulted in significant shortcomings. Numerous characters were either omitted or inadequately developed, leading to glaring plot holes and unanswered questions. The film concludes with an unsatisfying cliffhanger that leaves viewers feeling frustrated rather than intrigued.
Compounding these issues was the film's reception within the context of contemporary political discourse. Critics seized upon what they perceived as “whitewashing,” arguing that casting white actors like Rathbone and Peltz in roles inspired by East Asian cultures was problematic. Despite Shyamalan being of South Asian descent and efforts made to include diverse casting choices within certain roles, these nuances were largely overlooked amidst the backlash. It is likely that more popular or respected directors such as Steven Spielberg or James Cameron would have gotten away with similar casting decisions.
While The Last Airbender is far from being classified as a good film, it remains watchable under certain conditions. The viewer's experience may heavily depend on their familiarity with the original animated series; for ardent fans, Shyamalan’s adaptation is likely perceived as sacrilegious. Conversely, those unacquainted with the source material might find value in its visual spectacle or ambition. If this film serves as an entry point for newcomers to explore Avatar: The Last Airbender, it may have fulfilled at least one aspect of its intended purpose.

After nearly 2 decades of being praised as the best animated series of all time, I finally actually watched Avatar: The Last Airbender. Then I watched the new Netflix live action Avatar series. Then I watched The Last Airbender movie…
I have thoughts.
Greetings my dear friends who love movies and television series.
Everyone, welcome to my publication, where this time I will be talking to you about the non-animated series Avatar: The Last Airbender, a series that for me has been very amazing and entertaining.
I recently finished watching the first season and I'm already looking forward to having the opportunity to watch the second season when it premieres. I was so addicted to the series that I couldn't contain my desire to watch it in its entirety in one day (not that the first season is that long).

It is practically the same as the one that some of us know from its animated series, there are even people who barely knew it because they saw this series, but they did not see its animated version, which was the original and was the one that started the world of fantasy.
It all ended when the fire nation attacks
The story begins with Aang, a boy, let's say around the age of 15, perhaps, who has an enormous burden on his shoulders, to save humanity and stop the evil plans of the fire nation.
In the series there are 4 elements that make up the world, Wind, Water, Earth and Fire, who must maintain order with the world, it is like Ying and Yang, there cannot be much Ying and very little yang, everything is one balance, since they are the elements that make the world work, but the fire nation wants to dominate the entire world and conquer and destroy everything in its path to carry out its evil planes.
That's what Aang is for, whom we know as the Avatar for being able to control all the elements that make up the world.

The king of the fire nation called Ozai played by actor Daniel Dae Kim, has an immense thirst to conquer other continents and dominate the world, since being of said element, they have the need to dominate everything and turn it into ashes.
Fire is the most dangerous element until they face the water type, but their courage is so admirable that they even have the possibility of facing an entire kingdom of water, where the first season ends with a great war so admirable. I was very impressed with all the effects they added to turn the animated series into real life.

We will meet 2 main characters apart from Aang (Gordon Cormier), we have Katara played by Kiawentiio and Sokka played by Ian Ousley.
As in the animated series, Katara is the only woman in the group and is the sister of Sokka, a master of the water element who accompanies our good friend Aang to save the world from chaos. Being a woman, she is insulted by other masters. of the water element, since according to the machismo of the man in this series, women only fulfill one purpose, to procreate and heal the wounds of men, something that she does not agree with and that she wants to become the first female warrior. of his element, being the admiration of many warriors of said nation of water.
Sokka is considered a very ingenious warrior, attractive to women for his charismatic personality (and who always leaves a crush along the way), he does not have abilities of the water element, and not everyone can possess those abilities unless they have a family member. with these powers, but in Sokka's case he is only considered a warrior, a man who will accompany Aang's team to protect them from the warriors they will face along the way.

The prince of the fire nation and the voice of truth
In the series we will find two very important characters who always leave us a lesson, the first of them is the voice of truth called Uncle Iroh played by Paul Sun-Hyung Lee, a man whom He only pursues his reason and in search of peace, but because he is the older brother of the king of the fire nation Ozai, he has no choice but to enjoy the almost endless trips with his nephew to forget the death of his wife, his advice is very admirable and every moment in which he appears, you know that they will be very exciting where this man with his words fills with tranquility, hope and respect.
The prince of the fire nation is Zuko played by dallas Liu, a young warrior of approximately 20 years old, a man who dedicates his life to hunting the avatar, since for Being the heir to the throne of the fire nation, he wants to prove to his father that he is capable of ruling. And although he does things that we will not agree with, he is a man who only does it because he has the appreciation of his father, since he was not a man to show affection or dedicate time to him because he was constantly involved in an endless war. . . Although his intentions are not entirely good, he has a big heart that only wants to be valued as a son.

I loved the series a lot, in fact, I loved the first season more than the animated series, perhaps it is because of its spectacular fantasy effects in real life that make me love it so much, the very entertaining, fun and addictive story that Even if they continue as they are going, they will be able to turn this series into one of the best of the year, I hope that in its second season it will be the same or better.
I didn't want to reveal much about the series, just specific points so you have an idea of what you can find in it, if you haven't seen it yet, but I highly recommend it, if you like the fantasy genre with reality, you will be captivated . with the magnificent scenes it has, the effects, nature, elements, strength and drama.
The series is available on Netflix, it has a very good HD quality and with all the special effects they make it very epic.
It has had a very good reception on social networks, some criticize it, but for my tastes, I prefer fantasy more and having a certain similarity to the original story, even more so with such spectacular effects.
Thank you very much for coming this far in my publication, I hope you like it, until next time.

Avatar: Fascinating journey into the world of the four elements.
Avatar: The Last Airbender, the Netflix series inspired by the Nickelodeon animation, took me on an immersive adventure through fantasy lands full of magic and epic conflicts. Although the series has a childish air, it wins you over with its story of courage, friendship and balance.
>**Aang, a 12-year-old boy from the Air Nation, finds himself trapped in his destiny by the Avatar, the only one who can control all the elements: water, earth, air and fire. The Fire Nation, led by the ruthless Lord Ozai, seeks supremacy, threatening the fragile peace between the nations. Aang, accompanied by Katara, a waterbender, and Sokka, a resourceful warrior, embarks on a perilous journey to master his powers and save the world.**
The series has a dual tone, oscillating between adulthood and childhood. On the one hand, it presents us with complex political conflicts, intense battle scenes and deep moral dilemmas. On the other hand, the childish humor, likable characters and light jokes make it accessible and fun for all ages.
**Special effects are impressive, bringing the fantasy world of Avatar to life. The nations are detailed, the elemental battles are spectacular, and the flying scenes of Aang on Appa, his flying bison, are jaw-dropping.**
Yep😊 and the acting is exceptional. Daniel Dae Kim, who plays Lord Ozai, manages to perfectly convey the character's cruelty and authority. M. Night Shyamalan, the director of the series, deserves credit for his attention to detail and the way he brought the Avatar universe to life.
**Avatar: The Last Airbender is a perfect series for a relaxing evening full of magic and adventure. Although it has some downfalls, its gripping story, memorable characters and meaningful messages make it an unforgettable experience. I recommend watching it with family or friends to enjoy Aang's fascinating journey together.**
```
```
* **The series has a fantastic soundtrack that will instantly transport you into the magical atmosphere of the world of Avatar. By the way, there is also an animated series Avatar: The Last Airbender, which is worth watching if you want to delve into the universe created by Nickelodeon.**
I can say that i liked it and I'm really looking forward to season 2. Yep ~ A perfect series for a relaxing escape from reality.
›The Bending Nostalgia - Netflix's Avatar: The Last Airbender Review@olujay840d
I couldn't bring myself to watch the series at the time it was released. There was talk everywhere about the new Avatar: The Last Airbender, and so I fought the urge to watch it because of the hype, scared of being disappointed. The animated series was special to me as a child.
And now, having finished the last episode of the series, I wish it didn't end yet and that they had reached the end of the entire story. I was having mixed feelings, however, and it was about certain parts of the film. I had expectations, surely; some were met and maybe surpassed, others not so much.
You see, I was so much of a nerd for the animated series back when it was all we had. And that means that I had a keen eye on almost everything that was done on the film because I valued the Avatar story so deeply and, in a way, was going to "look out for it."
"A young boy known as the Avatar must master the four elemental powers to save a world at war—aand fight a ruthless enemy bent on stopping him."[Google]
It had been a very long time since I watched the animated series. And, although I was going to "keep a close eye" on everything, I had really forgotten many things about the story of The Last Airbender. It was while I watched the episodes of the new series on Netflix that certain things started coming back.
The first episode of the film was very crucial. It had to either pass or fail. The origin story of The Last Airbender is something that the filmmakers needed to get right, as that is where it all started. And so when I went through the first episode and it felt "just right to me," I had a feeling that I was in for a ride.
For me, the story of how Avatar Aang became the last airbender, lived through 100 years, found a few people he would truly call friends, and met his arch nemesis was just the same in this live action series as it was in the animated series.
I had feared that Netflix making their own adaptation of the film was going to ruin it for me, considering that they have a thing wanting to appeal to a variety of ideologies, leading their stories from true context. Thankfully, however, they worked with Nickelodeon on it.
The filmmakers did well to translate things from the animated series to the live-action series in a way that maintains realism and originality, striking a graceful balance to keep the live-action enjoyable. For example, the bending we see in the live action is something to really appreciate for how it was portrayed—in an exciting and captivating way that stays true to the original.
There were only eight episodes in this first season of the live-action series. And because of that, the way the entire story is told is a bit different. The timeline wasn't exact, and it was as though some things were mixed up or compressed. It didn't matter much, though, as the story writers managed to maintain the important parts of the film, at least crucial for the story's development.
I like to think that the heart of the film lies within the characters and how connected they are to themselves. The character development was handled properly in this live-action film and accurately depicted in the animated series.
The actors in this film felt as though they were individually passionate about the project. Each one of them represented their characters with so much soul and excellence. I totally commend every single one of them.
Eight episodes were never going to portray the entire Last Airbender story, as expected. So we find the first season of the live action to end somewhere in the early parts of the main story. I had mixed feelings about that because that's around where previous live action by Paramount Studios in 2010 had stopped and never continued.
Thankfully, Netflix announced the renewal of the show for seasons 2 and 3. So we know that the film is going to continue with the story. My hope and expectation is that they maintain the energy at least.
The live-action series Avatar: The Last Airbender by Netflix (in partnership with Nickelodeon) is a film to appreciate for how it strikes a balance between following the original story and keeping it entertaining. It's something that both longtime fans and new viewers would both enjoy. Definitely a 9/10.

This 2024 is full of many productions that have been released and others that are waiting to be released to the screens, such is the case of the new TV series, Avatar: The Legend of Aang, the Last Airbender. This was released this year, a production of adventure, fantasy and action, which was directed by Michael Goi and Roseanne Liang, and was developed by Albert Kim. Also working on this series were its creators Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko. This series has a total of eight chapters, with a duration of between 42 and 60 minutes. It is a live action of the 2005 Nickelodeon animated series of the same name.
This is really a faithful adaptation to the anime, which is why it is relatively good for those of us who like the original animated series, although I must also say that I would have liked to see another approach to the story, that new things would be shown, although seeing the series it seems to me that other seasons will be released, since the ending was open for other installments. I don't really know if a second season was officially announced, what I am sure of is that I want to continue watching the story of Aang and his adventure to master the four elements (air, water, earth and fire), the task of the Avatar, according to the story, in order to give balance to the world and bring peace back.
Plot
Delving a little deeper into the plot for those who do not know the original story, who never saw the anime, this series tells us about Aang, a child airbender who was the only survivor of the airbenders. Aang is not only a master of one of the elements, but he is also the Avatar, the one who controls the four elements and as I said before, he controls the balance of the world to keep it in peace. But, the Fire Nation and its emperor, attacked the airbenders, eliminating them all, leaving only little Aang who disappeared after being trapped in an iceberg for 100 years. After his return and in the company of Katara and Sokka (both from the water nation), who become his faithful friends, accompanying him in his difficult mission. We also have Prince Zuko who is the antagonist of this first season, who was sent by his father, the emperor of the country of the game, to marry Aang.

The plot of the series seemed good to me and of course, if I also liked the anime and being the adaptation so faithful, at least from what I remember, it can't be otherwise. But, this doesn't mean that it was perfect, since at times the scenes were very slow, with a lot of dialogue and less action, although it didn't end up ruining my experience. I agree that the adaptation should be as faithful as possible, but I would also like to see more explored in the stories of the main characters, to know more about the parents of Aang's friends, for example, how the airbenders were shown and how they were attacked, something that doesn't appear in the anime, at least that I remember. I must say that I saw the anime years ago and there are cases that I don't remember very well, so this Live action is quite good for me.
Several years ago there was also a movie (Live action) of Avatar, the last airbender, but everything focused more on the journey of Aang and his arrival to the great northern city (north pole) of the water nation and everything happens just like the anime, the same thing that happens with the series that came out in this 2024, although something in favor of this year's remake is that being a series of eight chapters, it had the opportunity to cover much more in the story, something that can not happen in a film of a little more than an hour and a half. In short, this series is a remake of the 2010 film, plus more scenes taken from the story of the animated series.
Something I liked about this animated series was the cast, since the actors are more similar to the anime than the 2010 movie, since in this remake Asian actors were used to play the characters with these features, because remember that the anime is Japanese. Aang in this TV series is played by Gordon Cormier, a Canadian actor of Filipino origin and who really fits the character very well, even I thought I was watching the anime. The same goes for Katara played by Kiawentiio and Sokka played by Ian Ousley. Actually, as for the main characters, the selection was the right one, since the actor Dallas Liu played the role of Prince Zuko and this was quite good for him. The series has a good amount of main, recurring and guest actors and actresses, each one does a good job with their characters, although we know that some are better than others. The cast work is pretty good, although I must say that it is not the best of the series, as some characters I connect enough, I believe what I'm seeing and in others not so much.
As for the photography, I can tell you that it is undoubtedly one of the best of this live action of Avatar, the last airbender. The cinematographers were Michael Balfry, Michael Goi and Stewart Whelan, doing a wonderful job, the places were very well recreated, all very much according to the anime and that is something in favor of the series and of which the fans of this story should be very happy, including myself. Another strong point of the series is the visual effects, they are really beautiful and more in a fantasy series, where the elements, fire, water, air and earth are used as a means of defense and attack, it really gives pleasure to see this production, a great improvement over the 2010 film. The visual effects were in charge of studio DNEG.

Regarding the soundtrack, it was involved in a certain movie, since Jeremy Zuckerman, who is the composer of the original animated series, was the one who was going to compose the soundtrack for the live action, but when the creators of the anime withdrew from the project, he decided to step aside. Finally, Takeshi Furukawa was in charge of the music for the remake series, doing a great job.
**Final opinion**
This live action of the animated series of Avatar, the legend of Aang or the last airbender, is a good series, where undoubtedly the fandom of the original animated series will enjoy the production, as it is very faithful to the story of the anime, the cast is very similar to the original characters, the setting, photography and visual effects are the best of this remake, very consistent with the times. We cannot fail to mention the music which is another strong point of the story. This is a reboot of the animated series taken to live action, it is nothing more than that, everything is very faithful, it may change or show new things that we have not seen before, but in general everything is quite similar to the anime. I would have liked to see new things, but I understand that this is aimed more at a new audience, those who have not seen the story of the last airbender. But well, those who have already seen it, also have the opportunity to see it again, but much improved in terms of visuals, this compared to the 2005 anime and the 2010 movie. Yes, I would have to give it a score, it would be a 7.5, the series is not perfect, but we can have a nice time watching it.

›Avatar The Last Airbender ( Netflix )@steemychicken1847d
Just finished binge-watching the new live-action adaptation of Avatar: The Last Airbender on Netflix, and let me tell you, it's a must-watch! As a die-hard fan of the OG animated series, I was a bit skeptical at first, but this adaptation turned out to be a really fresh take on the beloved story.
First off, let's talk bending – the CGI and VFX work here is absolutely stunning! From the graceful waterbending to the powerful earthbending, every element comes to life in breathtaking detail. And don't even get me started on the Avatar State – talk about jaw-dropping!
But what really sets this adaptation apart is the way it adds depth to the characters and storylines we know and love. Sure, there are some subtle alterations, but they only serve to enrich the narrative and keep us on the edge of our seats. Plus, seeing familiar faces like King Bumi, Jet, and Commander Zhao brought back all the nostalgia feels!
For those of you worried about how faithful this adaptation is to the original series, fear not! While it may take a few unexpected turns, it stays true to the heart and spirit of Avatar: The Last Airbender. And for newcomers to the world of the Avatar, this serves as a perfect introduction to the epic adventure that awaits.
My advice? Approach this adaptation with an open mind and let yourself be swept away by the Avatar universe. Trust me, you won't be disappointed! Whether you're a longtime fan or a newbie, there's something here for everyone to enjoy.
The Last Airbender. Netflix has truly outdone themselves with this adaptation, and I can't wait to see where the story goes next!
P.S I really loved that they screened the genoside of the Air nomads it added a lot of depth to the story.
I spent the last three days of last week binge watching this because it was so good. It's unlike Netflix to produce original and quality content as of late, but this was absolutely amazing. Here's why:
It's set up as a story for children and young teenagers. You can tell by watching the storyline it's not one with deep hidden meaning and complex emotional trauma, it's one where the simplest of storylines is told, but one that really works. It's about family, friends, and tough times.
You see, the world is at peace. For millienia the world has turned to an Avatar to guide the delicate balance of peace between nations so that everyone can survive in relative harmony. The world is split up into 4 elemental nations, each with their own skill and relevancy to the element they can wield, for example:
There is the fire nation, a fierce warmongering nation that can use the force of fire to cast asunder many of their enemies. Then there's the Earth nation who can use the forces of earth to shake any enemies feet from underneath them. And of course the Water nation, who can wield water in ways one could only imagine to fight with or to heal.
Then of course there is the air Nation which was taken by surpise by the fire nation at the beggining of the series because they knew the next Avatar would be an air bender and would only be a child. So they used the night they would be at their most powerful to attack the air nation when all their village elders would be in the same place, and destroyed them all.
Luckily our young Aang has been told that he was the Avatar the night before and was struggling to come to terms with the fact that he was destined to hold the responsibility of world peace and went to fly out on his sky bison to clear his head. He hadn't been gone for long when the fire nation decided to attack.
Aang flew over the sea, and it was extremely rough waters that night and they were taken down by some absolutely ferocious waves. That's when Aang's internal avatar kicked in and saved him. Encrusting him in a bright blue wall, saving him from the harsh waters.
100 years of fighting pass and two people from the water nation accidentally stumbled across Aang and didn't know what to do with him. They didn't know who or what he was so they took him back to the village elders to see what was up and what had been happening. Luckily the elders knew immediately who he was.
Just as Aang was coming together and trying to get his footing in this new world, and sadly realising everyone he knew everywhere had passed long ago, a lone fire nation boat happened to be in the vicinity, and it wasn't any random boat it was the prince of the fire nation who had been tasked with finding the avatar and had wandered the earth for several years trying to find who it was.
And thus from there we start an epic journey of family, betrayal, subterfuge, love and destiny. It's an epic fantasy saga, made for children but mostly anyone can watch it. Hell, I'm 43 and I loved every minute of it.
Definitely worth a watch if you like yourself a bit of fantasy now and again.
Since a few days ago I wanted to resume this type of content more related to movies and series because apart from photography and that I love healthy food one of my great passions and something I also studied is everything that has to do with the audiovisual, and I thought what better way to resume this type of content but with a series like this that reminds me so much of my childhood adolescence and that I saw and relived so many times.
I can confess that as a fan of this series is a little difficult to remain objective, however I can say that Netflix has done a very good job with some points to address that were not quite right, obviously we must take into account something very very clear and that is that this is a live action adaptation is not a photocopy of the animated series so they do take certain attributions to go carrying a rather peculiar pace but nevertheless remains quite faithful to what is the original work.
Among the things that I can highlight that I loved was the design of apa and Momo I think the textures and the overall design of both characters were fantastic but however there were some scenes where the CGI was noticeable and the environments or backgrounds looked very fanciful that is to say they looked too unreal it is as if they were not fully adapted to the scene along with the actor. And speaking on the subject of the performances one of my favorite performances were or rather favorite interactions were between the characters or actors who play Suko and his uncle really these two actors had an incredible chemistry on screen and their performances for me were the best were fluid memorable and the two characters were some wonderful developments, on the other hand I must confess that the actor who played the character, although it is true that he did not give a bad performance, I feel that he lacked a little bit more of imprint as well as the actor who played soca, I feel that many times the performance was a little weak and lacked a little more presence as well as the actress who played Katara, many times she stood out but in others the performance felt a little rushed and I did not feel the same chemistry that was seen in the animated play between them, what good they are after all the co-protagonists.
›Avatar: The Last Airbender 2024 Series Review@filotasriza3851d
A couple of days ago and to my surprise Netflix released the serialization/live-action of Avatar: The Last Airbender. If you don't know anything about this basically the original is anime/cartoon that aired through Nickelodeon in 2005. It had 3 seasons with 62 episodes in total and is considered one of the best and most anime/cartoons out there. To give you an idea it has a 9.3/10 in IMDb with over 350k reviews.
You can imagine how happy i was when i found out that there is a brand new series about it. Note that there was already a movie which was pretty bad. Now because NETFLIX has a woke agenda in my eyes, it tends to ruin mostly everything that already exists and the original content comes from books, anime, manga, novels etc. Thus, i had my concerns before i even watched it and my concerns were actually true to some extent.
Plot
So the plot is pretty straightforward and we have a universe where most of the people are part of a certain clan/kingdom let's say, based on some elements. We got the Fire Nation, Earth Kingdom, Water Tribe and the Airmonks. Basically, as the name suggests each nation/tribe/clan has an affinity towards an element. That means that in each of these nations, a lot of people have let's say powers to control the relevant Element.
To be more specific, the Fire Nation can manipulate fire, the Water Tribe can manipulate water and other forms of it like Ice and the list goes on. Ofc not everyone can manipulate the elements and even those that do so need the practice to get better. One set rule though, is that nobody can use more than 1 main element, except one person in the world, the AVATAR.
The Avatar is let's say a random person with a pure heart and such, that has the ability to learn how to use every element. Not only that but he/she has a special connection with all the past Avatars who somehow live inside of him. Also, the Avatar position is like a rotation role, that each time a human from a different nation would be deemed as the next one!
This time the Avatar in line is a young boy called Aang an Airbender who through a storm gets stuck in ice for 100 years. At the same time when that same storm occurs, the Fire Nation attacks the Airbender monks and basically kills all of them. 100 years later Katara and Sokka two teens from the water tribe find Aang who wakes up from his sleep and tries to figure out what's going on.
Apparently, the Fire Nation rules the world and only some strongholds remain. Aang along with his new friends embarks on a journey to learn more about the world, to find people that would train him and teach him how to use the other elements and ofc stop the war and win over the fire king.
What I Liked and What I Didn't
First of all, there are 8 episodes out there and ofc there will be a 2nd season, most likely. The setting, the aesthetics the CGI and everything related to these is honestly spot on. They did a freaking amazing work and even the use of any of the elements seems quite real. Kudos to the team behind it once again.
Another great thing is the acting. Most of the actors did a great job, they seem to be genuinely interested in providing a great experience to the viewers and most of them look alike to cartoon/anime ones. Because we are talking about NETFLIX though they need to add some wokeness and ruin some things just for the sake of it.
On the one hand, we have characters that look almost identical and even have a lot of easter eggs like the cabbage guy who is basically the actual voice actor himself. On the other hand, we have characters like Azula and Mei who look like failed cosplayers. Bumi and Iroh are great though!
What the show lacks though is character development which is extremely stupid given that you actually have a source. Literally, you have everything you need already, you simply need to copy/paste and mission accomplished. I don't get why this is happening always.
Zuko's character has way more depth than what we see, Sokka even though the actor is doing great work if you check the cartoon/anime he is so much more. For example, you see him joking and making fun of women all the time. He may even seem "sexist" which is why i believe NETFLIX didn't show that aspect, but the actual truth is more complicated.
You see Sokka needed to act as a Leader and protector of his tribe from a young age. He also has a younger sister Katara who loves and feels his responsibility to protect her at every cost. That's why he doesn't want his little sister and all the girls to fight, maybe to have more survival chances than the boys. Through the cartoon/anime and Sokka traveling the world meeting strong women and at the same time watching his sister becoming stronger and braver, he gets to completely change his mind and respect women more than anything. Do you see it now? Do you see how stupid people on Netflix are?
Finally, even though i can say a lot more i will say only one thing that i didn't like. Katara in the series seems better than Aang. She receives zero training and through a scroll, she basically learns how to even use ice, while Aang who is the freaking Avatar doesn't learn anything new. Ofc in the cartoon/anime Katara undergoes training multiple times and ofc she gets better and better.
Overall, in my eyes, it is a decent attempt but we need more, way more. I would probably give it a 6.5-7/10 max and if the same continues in season 2 i would maybe drop my rate to 6. One of the things that made a lot of people get hooked on the anime/cartoon is the deep character development of almost every main character, something we don't actually see through Netflix. I would strongly suggest watching the anime/cartoon if you have the time!
›Avatar: The Last Airbender - A Fantastic or Erratic Perception? | Serie Review [En-Es]@neruel852d
The world has broken its balance; peace and coexistence were crushed by the wickedness of a single nation. Fire has succumbed to hope and freedom, while the master airs have been wiped from the face of the earth. The great genocide!
Netflix has gone for a new Live Action, and the truth is that the plot of the eight-episode The Last Airbender has favorable points that cause or provoke you to watch it. I will initially disagree with my friend @soldierofdreams about the fact that the series is a failure and is totally bad. This consideration I will argue here little by little. I also can't deny that there are elements that are not good, but the series is not a total failure.
For as long as I can remember, I have read thousands of manga and manhwas and watched a lot of anime of different genres. Avatar is no exception, and I want to highlight the magic of the story that Netflix decided to bring to the screens.
The first element I must highlight is the "Universe", The story divides the world into four big Nations: Air, Water, Earth and Fire. Each of these nations was aesthetically very well crafted. The photography is good, the scenery is all too realistic, and the science fiction is of very high quality. You don't need to be told which nation is the Air or Water Nation, you'll be able to tell just by looking at it.
Another feature of this overly realistic universe are iconic anime figures, such as Appa the flying bison from Avatar Aang. Appa's adaptation is perfect; he is beautiful and feels real. Yes, you feel his fur, and you feel like you're flying over him. The same goes for Momo (a kind of winged lemur), who is notable in the story for his kindness and mischief. Both animals, which are very important characters in the story, were developed very well. The work is impeccable.
There are two important things I must highlight from that same "Universe": the level of architecture and urbanism of the earth realm of Omashu and the southern Air Temple, and the second is the spirit world, which has a high level of realistic adaptation.
Another aspect of the series that I must highlight is the sensitivity of the dualistic message; that is, the anime reflects a strong value for friendship, which is maintained in the Netflix-adapted series. Even despite the warning that friendship is a burden for all the Avatars he converses with, Aang in his spiritual state. The plot prioritizes friendship at its core, at the beginning and at the end. That makes it connect with the viewer.
The other message the series contains is the way in which we can change our destiny. Aang is the avatar, must protect the world, and is guilty of shirking his responsibility, but the way he wishes to live is not the same as his predecessors. Therefore, he must not follow his predecessors' actions. The same happens with Katara when, in the Northern Water Nation, she is forbidden to learn the techniques of water bending, and she opposes it by teaching a great lesson.
Now I have come to a really debatable point. This is the drama of the series; that is, the tone that characterizes it. Netflix didn't really retain the identity of the main character, and that creates a very big disconnect. Although, in the moments where actor Gordon Cormier smiles, you get a glimpse of the anime's Aang; however, there is an over-emphasis on maturity that the character doesn't originally possess.
Ahora he llegado a un punto realmente debatible.
Aang in the anime is learning little by little. It is true that he is much more mature than other 12-year-olds because he is a monk, but it is not to the extreme. The series chose to suppress the comedy and the identity of the main character, and that overshadows all the favorable elements of the story. The reason is that Gordon Cormier is the main character; therefore, he must connect with the audience.
What I mean is that Gordon Cormier's performance, although excellent, does not possess the identity of the character that the fans have seen. If I compare this to Iñaki Godoy as Monkey D. Luffy, Luffy certainly retained his character's essence of comedy and attraction. Something that made it unnecessary for a person who had never read or seen One Piece to criticize or, indeed, feel a barrier of connection to the character.
It's hard to believe that a child has a high degree of maturity, despite the fact that he must save the world from war.
Would you recommend the series? I would; it's a very well-crafted series that retains a high degree of identity from the original story. In particular, I didn't plan to watch it because I didn't have high expectations, but I liked the universe, and I'm looking forward to the second season to see how Netflix recreates Ba Sing Se (the capital of the Earth Kingdom Nation) and the great library of Wan Shi Tong.
›Netflix me tomó el pelo con Avatar: The Last Airbender - Opinión [ESP - ENG]@soldierofdreams854d

I have a huge fear of the adaptations that, after an overwhelming success, are made to books, videogames or animated series. Some adaptations are very successful, as in the case of The Last of Us or Game of Thrones, but others, if you'll excuse the word, are absolute garbage. It seems that some production companies do not skimp on ruining original works just to "convince the masses" with a supposedly more cinematic vision, where very poor creative developments or rather ambiguous productions reign.
The last work that I least wanted to see again in Live Action was Avatan: The Last Airbender. After the film adaptation that Night Shyamalan's movie brought with it, even for the most optimistic it may be impossible to rescue the hope of a human incarnation of that Nickelodeon animated hit. In the end, the result is not so different.

I'll start with the fidelity of this Live Action with respect to the series. There was a greater effort to preserve some characteristics of the main characters, the elemental nations, the spirits and the entire universe. However, in the process they ended up jettisoning the complexity that characterized each of these elements. I felt the series was rather robotic, with trite situations that were somehow or other unbearable. I couldn't be watching the episodes without thinking about the simplicity of the performances or the lack of charisma that came from them. I felt no connection to anything, except for the occasional moment where I said:
"Okay, this did happen in the animated series, but...".
But I still didn't like it. I hated the parts they left out and other parts they included. Aang dancing in the air in the first scene of the movie? I really hated that, XD. The costumes looked like Sitcom costumes: something about these didn't quite sit right with me. I understand that bringing an animated series to Live Action can be difficult, but I always remember The Last of Us phenomenon: somehow, it can't always be the excuse.

The plot of this first season focuses on the water book, although with some elements of the earth book. These "books" function in the animated series as interludes to the story, divided into a total of 61 episodes, enough material to outline an elegant and clever adaptation. Albert Kim is in charge of directing this Netflix project that, so far, has been quite big for him, at least in my opinion.
And is that, with such a complex story and such a rich universe, it is quite difficult to remain faithful to an animated work that kept the excitement in its time. Above all, it takes quite a bit of ingenuity not to alter the trajectory of a work that captivated in its original version. Netflix's adaptation lacked more charisma, more logic of fidelity. The winks were not enough, neither were the special effects. In the end, I only found another disappointment that ended up helping me decide not to watch the series again, unless (and I doubt it) it resumes a more ingenious path in its second season.
LOL.
¿Ya viste Avatar: The Last Airbender?

I expected more when I saw my favorite characters incarnated: I didn't like Azula's character at all, who in my childhood and now in my adulthood is still my great favorite. There was no forced inclusion, for that part it was a relief not to see an African American Aang, not to be racist, but because in these times so Woke, nothing is impossible anymore for industries to bill millions for that inclusive marketing. Anyway, Netflix failed to convince me. So, I'm still sticking with the animated version, which I confess, I doubt can ever be successfully brought to human incarnation, unless it's developed by Craig Mazin. LOL.
Have you seen Avatar: The Last Airbender yet?
Of course, I recommend you watch it in case you haven't and draw your own conclusions. We can't all have the same perception and tastes, so maybe you like it or think it's fantastic. If you saw the original version, you will find several winks and some more coherent connections, although for me, they didn't manage to rescue the work in general.
Avatar the Legend of Aang is a story that has caught my attention for decades in its animated version produced on Nickelodeon which I have never been able to see to the fullest and pleasant for me was the news that yesterday February 22, 2024 was released on Netflix its Live Action version which I did not even know they were going to release.
It is one of those surprises that gladden the soul because I said to myself that It's my time to fully enjoy this story without being contaminated by the Nickelodeon version which I have heard many fans of that version say is the best thing in the world which I think is not so because I notice it has its solid points to criticize which contaminate this series.
I have enjoyed this first episode like a kid but what I was talking about with fans of the Nickelodeon animated version which I saw as a script flaw I have confirmed it in this series.... The Airbenders are Weak and it structurally affects the plot basis of the story, I will expand this opinion in detail in the spoiler zone.
Otherwise the series is a genius, the accuracy of the cast chosen makes the story for me is fluid and I will name an example that is the character called Prince Zuko played by Dallas Liu.
In my mind I went back to the 2000's when I saw in Nickelodeon commercials the animated series of Aang because it is identical to that version, it is almost like taking the cartoon and turn it into a real human, I was pleasantly surprised with the cast, makeup and costume work to bring the cartoon to a real character of flesh and blood.
One criticism I want to highlight is that the music did not leave me anything, at the time of writing this post, the first episode did not leave in my mind any melody to hum happily as if it has happened to me in other products I have reviewed.
Series that with all the above mentioned I consider totally recommendable with a powerful 8 out of 10 as a score because it gives me a story that finally after decades I will know and that entertains me with battle dances adorned with the use of natural elements.
The Airbenders meet and are crushed, humiliated, massacred by an army of fire that leaves much to be desired, it has moments of battle that stand out, it seems that the Airbenders dominate but the power of the script humiliates them, defeats them because with a simple line of cheap dialogue that is The Comet Resource they all perish.
It is not the fault of the Series, it is the fault of the original material from which it is based because what they show me as the Fire Army, I see them as just another little soldiers and of course when I see those fire soldiers in that way, I end up being disappointed with all the air masters when they are defeated so easily.
I dedicate each and every one of my posts and videos to my little dog named princess, we called her chiquito, she is no longer with us but from heaven she will see that her existence was valuable and the most beautiful thing that will exist in my heart and soul.
Live Action is the headache of successful animations for a whole generation...
Avatar: The Last Airbender, was one of the best western animations I enjoyed in my childhood. I started watching it when its second season was released, conceived as the "earth book", and although I knew very little about the order of its plot, I could easily get hooked on the story of Aang, the last airbender who is also the Avatar: the chosen one whose main task is to maintain peace in the world by dominating the four elements: water, earth, fire and air.
After several marathons on Nickelodeon, I was able to grasp the thread of events that gave rise to the adventure of Aang and his friends Sokka, Katara, Toph, Momo the flying monkey and Appa the flying bison. The world that the avatar must defend is in a war that has lasted 100 years, which liberates the Fire Nation against the tribes of the Water Nation and the fortifications of the Earth Nation. The Air nation has been completely destroyed... but the last of the lineage, Aang, awoke from a century of being trapped in an iceberg.
This was the mythical adventure that sweetened the childhood of many, and that, soon, will return in the hand of Netflix after a resounding failure in the Live Action that Night Shyamalan guided in 2010. Will history repeat itself? That remains to be discovered.
Netflix bets on fidelity... to a certain extent.
When the Official Trailer of Avatar: The Last Airbender was released I had mixed emotions; a kind of nostalgia regarding the characters, the soundtrack and some landscapes. I think the creators of this new Netflix bet tries to stick to the resources of the original animation as much as possible. This is quite complex, even more if you consider the most loyal fans. I could say that, in short, I do not like that they ruin a great story with bad Live Actions, something that has already happened and has filled many of us with terrible disappointment.
I think the success with One Piece was the hilarious winks to the anime, and of course, that's what ended up giving it the success we all know. With Avatar: The Last Airbender it looks like history will repeat itself. Some things, however, have already made noise. For example, characters like Katara have been mired in controversy because of her skin color, which is lighter than in the original version. Beyond that, I think this will not define the series. What matters, in any case, is that it can be as good, entertaining and epic as that animation that premiered in 2005.
The Last Airbender no es una serie cualquiera
The Last Airbender is not just any old series.
Perhaps Night Shyamalan's mistake was to underestimate the masterpiece he was to bring to Live Action. In the animated series, very mature in terms of its war and fantasy premise, the characters are engaged in crude existentialist battles under the phenomena of war, love, family and the past. Every move to control the elements has a background: a story. What Shymalan did was to relate, without any fidelity whatsoever, what became a failure.
Shyamalan had a very simplistic approach to Avatar: The Last Airbender. The film had a dark, pale atmosphere, with overly flat characters. I couldn't process so much inequality between the original work and that feature film, even more so, when I noticed that it lacked a lot of that humorous, dramatic, and transcendental magic that kept the main characters on their feet. I pray that Netflix will honor it with this new offering. Fingers crossed until its release.
The Last Airbender nos dio los mejores personajes de nuestra infancia
No puedo olvidar a mis personajes favoritos dentro de The Last Airbender.
The Last Airbender gave us the best characters of our childhood.
I can't forget my favorite characters within The Last Airbender. Oddly enough, one of these was Azula, the most unhinged villain I've ever seen in a western animation. Azula was a firebending prodigy girl, so talented and maniacal that her father, the fire lord Ozai, preferred her as heir to the throne over Zuko, his male child. Of course, there is a darker undercurrent in the lineage of the Fire Nation's royal family. And speaking of Zuko... not for nothing is he considered one of the best redeemed heroes in an animated series.
Aang, the main protagonist, is more charismatic and peaceful, besides being a real goofball. Zokka and Katara are rather peculiar siblings, both scarred by the invasion of their tribe and the loss of their mother to war. Uncle Iroh is another big favorite of mine; like other characters, he suffered a great loss. Grief, then, is the unifying focus among our heroes.
I don't know any of the actors who will play these characters (except Daniel Dae Kim) in the Netflix Live Action. Fingers crossed again.... So many nerves!
We have to wait and evaluate
Despite all the theories or speculations about "Avatar: The Last Airbender", the only way to know if the series will be successful or not is to wait for its release. As I said, Live Action, at times, tends to ruin the original works, taking away that magic that once eclipsed our eyes and marveled it with unique animated stories. For me, nothing will be better than the original adventure of Aang and his friends, anyway, after seeing the Trailer and some promotional images, I must admit that Netflix's proposal seems to be different from what Shymalan once tried to do. And I hope it's really like that.
This I Ship Meme originally belongs to adamhatson and is dedicated to all of the wonderful Zuko x Katara or Zutara shippers, partisans, and loyalists of the world. Sit back, relax, and cherish Zutara's undeniable beauty, synergy, golden heart, and brilliance.
My undying love, appreciation, and admiration for Zutara knows no bounds. Ever since I first started watching Avatar: The Last Airbender in absolute earnest as a 13-year-old seventh grader, I knew from the back of my mind that Zuko and Katara not only looked great together but also had some potential for them to grow as a couple, despite what the canon dished out for them at the very end. By the time I was approaching high school as a 14-year-old, I got myself immersed in a multitude of Zutara fan art and fan fiction to the point where I considered myself an admirer of this particular pairing. Back then as a teenager, I used to love it because there was passion and beauty between the Fire Nation Prince first seeking to have his honour restored then be on a journey towards his redemption and the Water Tribe Warrior Girl who is the embodiment of solidarity, strength in numbers, and perseverance. Now, as an adult, and thanks to watching multiple videos from Joshua Fagan, Sneezy Reviews, and a litany of online reviewers who specialise in producing discourses focusing on Avatar: The Last Airbender, I can fully appreciate Zutara as a pairing that actually makes more narrative sense than ever before because of how they define balance, compassion, and the willingness to see each other as fellow human beings, not just elemental benders.
Zuko and Katara would have no illusions of who they are on the outside and on the inside, for they can challenge each others' notions and perceptions, while revealing something about themselves that they did not even realise. They might have started off as rivals, let alone enemies, but they could not be any more different from each other. Both of them lost their mothers during the Fire Nation's abuse of their power towards other nations, although Zuko's mother is still alive but Katara'a mother was killed by one of the Fire Nation's soldiers. Season 2 might have seen Zuko turn over a new leaf after the Siege of the Northern Water Tribe, given that he has spent this particular duration as a wanderer throughout the Earth Kingdom and realised what damage the Fire Nation wrought on the people, but, in "The Crossroads of Destiny", he ended up making a huge mistake by relapsing to his old ways, although he started to realise that it was futile capturing Aang in order to please his abusive tyrant of a father. Therefore, he betrayed his uncle/surrogate father, Katara, his supposedly new allies, and, worst of all, himself. Continuing on to Season 3, Zuko is seen finally realising that he has made a mistake and managed to do what he can to redeem himself because he realised that the Fire Nation's supposed prestige was nothing more than an empty shell. In order to atone for his error, he finally confronts his father, leaves the Fire Nation, and joins forces with Sokka, Aang, Toph, Katara, and eventually Suki in a series of "field trips".
In Katara's side of the story, she might have commenced the show as a passionate, kind, and loving idealist. However, her encounter with Hama when it came to acquiring blood-bending as well as her seething displeasure of seeing Zuko again, due to the fact that she always saw him as the face of the Fire Nation because of her mother's tragic fate, signified a different much darker side to Katara that was about to emerge. One that was full of vengeance, anguish, and pain which Zuko firmly acknowledged, especially in "The Southern Raiders". What Katara needed was closure to finally confront her mother's murderer, and Zuko knew who was responsible for committing such an atrocity. Katara's dark side came into full swing when she blood-bent a Fire Nation guard until she found the man who killed her mother, Yon Rha. As soon as they arrive to Yon Rha's residence, Katara was about to kill him by manipulating the rain to be turned into icicles. However, she realised that Yon Rha was nothing more than a pathetic, sad, undignified man. Although never forgave Yon Rha for what he did, she was ready to forgive Zuko. Therefore, Zuko did care for Katara about what she thought, was not afraid of her less than sunny side, and acknowledged her as a fellow human being.
The rest of the episodes demonstrated that the animosity that befell Zuko and Katara dissipated, and they can now fight side by side, thus showing how much they understand each other and how deep and meaningful their relationship could be. No where is this additionally evident when Zuko and Katara faced off against his younger sister Azula in the tragic yet powerful Final Agni Kai. Where Zuko had Katara by his side, Azula had nobody because of how she felt that everybody around her was treacherous when, in fact, she was never taught how to accept compassion and unconditional love as strengths. Zuko even sacrificed his own life for Katara when Azula pulled a dirty trick by redirecting Azula's lightning that was initially meant for Katara and taking it in. He may have been severely injured in the process, but, after Katara subdued Azula, she managed to help Zuko recover. Sure, this moment could have easily ironed out their relationship and bring it to the next level when it came to romance, but it demonstrated that there is nobody in this planet that Zuko and Katara could put their trust in than each other.
I would like to think that Zuko and Katara being in a romantic relationship together would signify not only the importance of balance, synergy, and harmony, but also the values of compassion, understanding, healing, and acknowledging each other as humans; strengths, weaknesses, warts, and all. Both of them have seen the best and the worst in each other, and they would never give up on each other. In fact, Katara's resilience and strong will could also be an asset to bringing peace to the Fire Nation after many years, let alone centuries, worth of animosity. Sure, the Fire Nation would be skeptical about having somebody from the Water Tribe be the new Fire Lady, but Katara would prove them wrong every single time by utilising her quick wit, her people skills, and her awareness of what she has seen in all the different nations. Even Zuko would remind the councillors, politicians, and the like that Katara saved his life, is just as important as a leader, and that her father is also nobility, so they need to treat her with more respect. Zuko and Katara even ended up being married at 17 and 15 years old respectively, thus acquiring the blessings of Hakoda, Grandmother Kanna, Pakku, and Uncle Iroh. Now with Zuko approaching 33 and Katara approaching 31, they are the proud parents of 15 going on 16-year-old triplet sons Seiji, Sanji, and Souji; 14 going on 15-year-old triplet sons Haku, Isoka, and Jiro; 13-year-old twin daughters Izumi and Ikuni; 12-year-old twin daughters Sara and Mara; and 11-year-old twin daughters Kya and Kana. All of their children are capable benders, with Seiji, Sanji, Souji, Izumi, and Ikuni mastering firebending; Haku, Isoka, Jiro, Sara, and Mara mastering both water- and firebending; and Kya and Kana being full-fledged waterbenders. Aside from their skills with fire and water, they are also compassionate souls who will never abandon anybody.
Zuko and Katara have come a long way in their romantic relationship. Their love for each other is unconditional, and they will always support each other in times of joy and in times of strife.
I hope you all enjoyed this, and I will see you in the next submission. Take care, stay safe, and keep on showing your love for Zutara, everybody.
Zuko and Katara from Avatar: The Last Airbender belong to Bryan Konietzko, Michael DiMartino, and Nickelodeon.
›[ESP/ENG] Hablemos de: Avatar, la leyenda de Aang | Let's talk about: Avatar, The last Airbender@ochitoalreves1719d
Hello again! Today I come with a pretty cool post in which I will tell you about my favorite animated series which is Avatar: The Legend of Aang. I remember when I was a kid they used to show this series on Nickelodeon and I didn't miss it at all, I even got to see twice the specials that were shown on weekends where they would show the episodes all day long. It is one of the series that I have seen the most (about 4 times) and the truth is that I never get tired of this story, so today I will tell you about it, let's go!
To talk about Avatar is to talk about one of the best animated series in history for me. With three seasons and 61 episodes this story unfolds wonderfully. The plot begins with siblings Katara and Sokka of the southern water tribe, who upon finding a boy with a flying bison frozen in an iceberg pull them out and discover that he is the airbender named Aang, who was 100 years frozen and that during his absence a war occurred that caused the fire nation and this with only 12 years old has the responsibility to save the world and restore its balance, having to master the 4 elements before the comet Sozin arrives and the fire nation becomes much more powerful. The brothers decide to accompany Aang in his adventure to master the other three elements trying to find different benders.
Each season is a book that is based on each element that the avatar tries to learn, the first is the book Water, where we meet the protagonist Aang, a 12 year old nomadic air boy who is giggly and quiet who after being pulled out of an iceberg after 100 years, discovers that he has the task of saving the world from a war that happened in his absence. Then there is Katara, a waterbender who lost her mother to the fire nation and holds a grudge against them. Sokka, a rather funny but extremely brave boy who does not dominate any element, but possesses great fighting skills. We also meet one of the most important, Zuko who is an exiled prince of the Fire Nation who was expelled until he gets the Avatar, being the main antagonist of this book. We also meet Iroh, my favorite character and Zuko's uncle, who is a pretty calm person and helps Zuko keep his cool in various situations. Here we begin to see that the task of learning other elements will not be easy for the Avatar, having to travel to the Northern Water tribe to improve his waterbending skills.
The second season is the book Earth where our trio of protagonists travels to the Earth Kingdom to get an earthbender for the young Avatar, after witnessing a series of "street fights" of earthbenders they meet another of my favorite characters, Toph, which is a blind earthbender who seems fragile, but is extremely strong and considered a prodigy in the domain of earthbending, besides having a strong character who joins the journey of the protagonists. We also see more important appearances of characters that appeared in the first season, such is the case of Azula, Zuko's younger sister who is extremely cruel and powerful, Machiavellian and very intelligent. There is also Suki, a Kyoshi warrior who will be the love interest who helps the protagonists when necessary along with her companions. In this book it is very interesting because we begin to delve into the stories of the ancient Avatar and the reasons why the war happened.
The last book is Fire, where the Avatar team has the most difficult task, which is to find a firebender who wants to help the Avatar, and here the characters that appeared previously, both main and secondary, finish developing. Aang's adventure to fight against the fire lord Ozai, Zuko's father is something that has our Avatar in a dilemma since it seems that the only alternative is to kill Ozai, but Aang does not want to do it because it goes against his principles as an air nomad. We also see how the team infiltrates the fire nation causing us nerves and a few laughs at the same time. We see the turbulent relationship between Zuko and her sister who suffers internally knowing that her mother saw her as a monster and in turn, how the young girl manipulates her friends to do actions to her benefit. I think this is the best book in my opinion as it gives phenomenal closure to the characters.
This series has an animation similar to anime, that is why it is often confused, but it was created in the United States, so it is not considered an anime. This does not detract from the fact that this animated series has been a resounding success for Nickelodeon, the television network responsible for broadcasting this great story. The creators Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko state that they were inspired by different Asian cultures to set and develop the series, and that each element is inspired by a martial art: air control is ruled by Pa Kua Chang; water control is ruled by Tai Chi; earth control is ruled by Pa Kua Chang; and fire control is ruled by Northern Shaolin. All these martial arts were animated for each element and also inspired by choreographies made by experts in those arts. They also dedicated themselves to create combinations of the elements (for example, the bloodbender derived from water or the metalbender control derived from earth), while creating an extensive universe in the world of Avatar, with a map, evil and good associations, and the distribution of the 4 nations of the different elements, creating a very solid and well constructed story. The setting is excellent, the scenery was inspired as I said before in different cultures of Asia, also the costumes and even the soundtrack which I find extremely incredible. Each character, feeling and situation has its own atmosphere, being highly influenced by the oriental culture using its typical instruments.
Something very important for me in this series is that all the characters have a coherent evolution and close in a wonderful way, from here I knew what it is to give a good arc of redemption to a villain as happened with Zuko, being one of my favorite characters and the one that for me has the best development in the world of animation, since knowing the reason for his actions and how he gradually comes to his senses based on fact and various situations he lives through seems to me something extremely wonderful. At the same time, we see how the characters mature little by little, Katara learns to control her element and emotions, Sokka learns many incredible skills even though he doesn't control an element and also becomes a better strategist, Toph learns to work in a team, and of course Appa and Momo also have their little stories within the series. Thanks to the success of this series, Avatar: The Legend of Korra was created, which was highly criticized but also had a good development in spite of everything. The world of Avatar is extensive but it is an extremely pleasant journey, it is an animated series that I highly recommend because its plot is extremely catchy and excellent, definitely my favorite animated series.
