   Hola, querido hiver.

   Esta es la penúltima reseña sobre la serie que tan bien me lo está haciendo pasar. Mentiría si dijera que no termino algunas escenas con las pulsaciones revolucionadas, a veces por los nervios de las escenas de tensión y otras de alegría cuando los malos reciben su merecido.

   Las tramas se cierran y confluyen poco a poco. La lista de personajes se reduce. El final está en el horizonte con todo por decidir.

   Sigo desvelando lo que pasa en la serie. Si continúas leyendo es bajo tu responsabilidad.

   

   En Invernalia se preparan para la próxima batalla contra el Rey de la Noche. Jon Nieve recibe una carta de Tyrion Lannister donde le instan a presentarse ante la reina Danaerys Targaryen en Rocadragón. A pesar de la reticencia de los señores del norte y de su hermana Sansa, Jon acepta viajar al sur con la idea de regresar con el preciado vidriagón que necesitan para fabricar armas y de aliarse con Danaerys.

   Aunque en el encuentro los dos reyes se muestran orgullosos se nota que entre ellos saltan chispas. La reina del fuego y el señor de Invernalia no pueden ocultar que se atraen. Al principio Danaerys no cree en las leyendas sobre los Caminantes Blancos y el ejército de muertos, pero cuando Jon regresa Más Allá del Muro para buscar las pruebas de su existencia es ella quien termina rescatando a los supervivientes. Eso sí, a costa de la muerte de uno de sus hijos, el dragón Viserion.

   

   En Desembarco del Rey Cersei Lannister se encuentra cada vez más sola. Se alía con Euron de las Islas del Hierro y éste busca su favor batallando contra la flota de Danaerys y le presenta en bandeja su venganza contra Ellaria por la muerte de su hija Myrcella en Dorne.

   Además, envía a Jaime hasta Altojardín para conquistarlo, cosa que logra pero la alegría le dura poco. Antes de morir envenenada, Olenna le confiesa que fue ella quien ordenó matar a Joffrey Baratheon en su boda. Cuando regresan con su botín, la caravana es atacada y masacrada por los dothraki y los dragones de Danaerys.

   

   Jaime se salva de milagro y más tarde se reúne engañado con su hermano Tyrion, que logra entrar en la capital sin ser visto. Le traslada el mensaje de que Danaerys y Jon quieren reunirse con Cersei para unir fuerzas frente al Rey de la Noche, pues es toda la humanidad la que está en peligro.

   Cersei termina aceptando la reunión, que se produce en un ambiente de lo más tenso. En medio de las negociaciones la reina cuenta con la oportunidad de matar a Tyrion pero no se atreve a dar el paso. Al menos manifiesta algo de humanidad esta mujer... Sin embargo, miente al aceptar la tregua y cuando Jamie se entera acaba por abandonarla al darse cuenta (¡por fin!) de que lo único que la mueve es el egoísmo y eso destruirá a todos.

   

   Arya empieza la temporada vengándose de quienes asesinaron a su madre y a su hermano Robert. Se dirige después a Desembarco del Rey para continuar con su lista, pero gracias a que se reencuentra con su amigo Pastel Caliente se entera de que Jon Nieve recuperó Invernalia de manos de los Bolton y decide cambiar el rumbo.

   En Invernalia se reencuentra con sus hermanos Sansa y Bran. Su llegada molesta a Meñique y este trata de influenciar en Sansa metiéndole malos pensamientos en la cabeza. Además le tiende una trampa a Arya para que actúe contra Sansa.

   

   En cuanto a Samwell Tarly, intenta convencer al Archimaestre Ebrose del peligro que se avecina pero no es escuchado. Investigando por su cuenta encuentra en un mapa la localización del vidriagón en Rocadragón y es quien avisa a Jon Nieve. Logra curar a Jorah Mormont de la psoriagrís tratándole a escondidas.

   Al darse cuenta de que no logrará éxito en su búsqueda del apoyo del Archimaestre decide regresar con Elí y su pequeño a Invernalia y servir allí a su amigo Jon Nieve. Al llegar, Brandon Stark le cuenta que Jon no era hijo bastardo de Ned Stark, sino que era hijo legítimo de su hermana Lyanna Stark y Rhaegar Targaryen, casados en secreto. O sea, que Jon y Danaerys son tía y sobrino y esto convierte a Jon en heredero al Trono de Hierro.

   

   Creo que esta es la temporada en la que más he disfrutado de toda la acción desarrollada. El cierre progresivo de las tramas, al menos por ahora, no es apresurado ni forzado en su mayor parte, algo difícil cuando hay tanta complejidad. Se mantiene el equilibrio entre escenas de acción y de diálogo.

   Respecto a la ambientación he reconocido las calles de Cáceres, las cuales pisé años antes de que se utilizaran para este rodaje. También son protagonistas otros lugares de España como el inconfundible acceso al castillo de San Juan de Gaztelugache. Si no me equivoco es la temporada en la que se localizaron más escenarios españoles.

   Mirando con la perspectiva de haber llegado hasta aquí me sorprende lo rápido que se me ha pasado. Temía que se me hiciera pesada, pues no suelo tolerar series de más de tres temporadas, pero no puedo estar más feliz de haberle dado una oportunidad. De hecho, me está gustando tanto que es muy probable que la revisione en un futuro, para recrearme más en ciertos detalles que ahora seguro que se me pasan por estar pendiente de la trama.

   ¿Ganarán la batalla contra el Rey de la Noche? ¿Quién acabará por sentarse en el Trono de Hierro? Muy pronto lo sabré.

   Hi, dear hiver.

   This is the penultimate review of the series that is giving me such a good time. I'd be lying if I said that I didn't finish some scenes with my heart racing, sometimes from the nerves of the tense scenes and other times with joy when the bad guys get their comeuppance.

   The plots close and converge little by little. The list of characters narrows. The end is on the horizon with everything still to be decided.

   I keep giving away what happens in the series. If you continue reading it is at your own risk.

   

   Winterfell prepares for the upcoming battle against the Night King. Jon Snow receives a letter from Tyrion Lannister urging him to appear before Queen Danaerys Targaryen at Dragonstone. Despite the reluctance of the northern lords and his sister Sansa, Jon agrees to travel south with the idea of returning with the precious vidriagon needed to make weapons and to ally himself with Danaerys.

   Although the two kings are proud of each other, it is clear that sparks are flying between them. The Queen of Fire and the Lord of Winterfell cannot hide their attraction to each other. At first Danaerys doesn't believe the legends about the White Walkers and the army of the dead, but when Jon returns Beyond the Wall to search for proof of their existence, it is she who ends up rescuing the survivors. At the cost of the death of one of her sons, the dragon Viserion.

   

   In King's Landing, Cersei Lannister finds herself increasingly alone. She allies herself with Euron of the Iron Islands, who seeks her favour by battling Danaerys' fleet and presents her with the revenge on Ellaria for the death of her daughter Myrcella in Dorne.

   She also sends Jaime to Highgarden to conquer it, which he succeeds in doing, but his joy is short-lived. Before she is poisoned to death, Olenna confesses to him that it was she who ordered Joffrey Baratheon's death at his wedding. When they return with their booty, the caravan is attacked and slaughtered by the Dothraki and Danaerys' dragons.

   

   Jaime is miraculously saved and is later reunited with his brother Tyrion, who manages to enter the capital unseen. He conveys the message that Danaerys and Jon want to meet with Cersei to join forces against the Night King, for it is all of humanity that is in danger.

   Cersei eventually agrees to the meeting, which takes place in a very tense atmosphere. In the midst of the negotiations, the queen has the opportunity to kill Tyrion but does not dare to take the step. At least this woman shows some humanity? However, she lies in accepting the truce and when Jaime finds out about it he ends up abandoning her as he realises (finally!) that the only thing that drives her is selfishness and that will destroy everyone.

   

   Arya begins the season by taking revenge on those who murdered her mother and brother Robert. She then heads to King's Landing to continue her list, but thanks to a reunion with her friend Hot Pie, she learns that Jon Snow has taken back Winterfell from the Boltons and decides to change course.

   At Winterfell she is reunited with her siblings Sansa and Bran. Her arrival upsets Littlefinger, who tries to influence Sansa by putting evil thoughts into her head. He also sets a trap for Arya to act against Sansa.

   

   As for Samwell Tarly, he tries to convince Archmaester Ebrose of the coming danger but is not listened to. Investigating on his own, he finds the location of the vidriagon at Dragonstone on a map and warns Jon Snow. He manages to cure Jorah Mormont of psoriasis by treating him secretly.

   Realising that he will not succeed in his quest for the Archmaester's support, he decides to return with Eli and his little boy to Winterfell and serve his friend Jon Snow there. Upon arrival, Brandon Stark tells him that Jon was not the bastard son of Ned Stark, but the legitimate son of his sister Lyanna Stark and Rhaegar Targaryen, who were secretly married. In other words, Jon and Danaerys are aunt and nephew and this makes him heir to the Iron Throne.

   

   I think this is the season in which I've enjoyed the most all the action. The progressive closure of the plots, at least so far, is not rushed or forced for the most part, which is difficult when there is so much complexity. The balance between action scenes and dialogue is maintained.

   As for the setting, I recognised the streets of Cáceres, which I walked on years before they were used for this filming. Other places in Spain are also protagonists, such as the unmistakable access to the castle of San Juan de Gaztelugache. If I am not mistaken, this is the season in which the most Spanish locations were found.

   Looking back with the perspective of having got this far, I am surprised at how quickly it has passed me by. I was afraid that it would become tiresome, as I don't usually tolerate series of more than three seasons, but I couldn't be happier to have given it a chance. In fact, I'm liking it so much that I'm very likely to revisit it in the future, to enjoy more certain details that I'm sure I'm missing now because I'm so focused on the plot.

   Will they win the battle against the Night King? Who will eventually sit on the Iron Throne? I will know soon enough.

   Hola, querido hiver.

   El final se acerca y empiezo a sentir un desasosiego conocido. Por una parte deseo avanzar para saber qué pasa a continuación. Por otro lado me gustaría ir más despacio para prolongar el tiempo de disfrute.

   Además esta es la última temporada con 10 capítulos. Las dos restantes son más cortas en episodios pero respetaré la frecuencia de una temporada a la semana para no mezclar las tramas. Si me adelanto y termino antes de tiempo la temporada 7 tengo pensado ocupar ese rato con películas.

   Bueno, que me explayo demasiado y tú has entrado para otra cosa, así que comienzo después de hacer el...

   La temporada anterior terminó con el asesinato a traición de Jon Nieve por el grupo de Guardianes de la Noche que no le respalda encabezados por Thorne. Sus fieles quedan desolados y Davos le pide a Melissandre que haga lo posible por resucitarle utilizando su magia.

   Funciona y Jon decide abandonar la Guardia de la Noche, pero antes de marcharse del Castillo Negro se presentan allí Sansa Stark junto a Brienne de Tarth y Podrick Payne. Tras recordar su infancia los hermanos deciden recuperar Invernalia de manos de los Bolton.

   

   Buscan aliados entre las demás casas del Norte y apenas logran reunir la mitad de fuerzas respecto a su enemigo. Aún así se presentan a la batalla, en la que Ramsay Bolton utiliza estrategias muy crueles causando innumerables bajas, pero finalmente cae derrotado gracias a la ayuda de los caballeros del Valle en el último momento.

   Después de esta victoria Jon Nieve es proclamado nuevo Rey en el Norte, pero Meñique, que está presente en ese momento, no está de acuerdo y nos deja con la intriga de lo que hará a continuación.

   Por otro lado, su amigo Samwell Tarly marcha con Elí y el bebé con la intención de regresar convertido en maestre. La idea de Sam era dejar a Elí y el pequeño con su familia pero el padre les trata muy mal y se van los tres juntos a la Ciudadela.

   

   Daenerys es capturada por los dothraki y la pretenden encerrar en una especie de santuario para las viudas de los anteriores khal. Ella provoca el incendio del lugar donde los jefes khalasar están tomando la decisión y sale ilesa de entre las llamas como ya hizo una vez.

   Regresa a Meereen a tiempo para derrotar de nuevo a los esclavistas y recibe a Theon y Yara Greyjoy, que se unen a ella ofreciéndole sus barcos. También se suman las Casas Martell y Tyrell, que desean vengarse de los Lannister.

   El menor de ellos, Tyrion Lannister, se encarga de la ciudad de Meereen en ausencia de la reina y hace un buen papel, por lo que se gana la confianza de Daenerys y le nombra su Mano.

   

   En Desembarco del Rey los fanáticos de la Fe de los Siete siguen aplicando su régimen. Consiguen que los reyes se unan a su causa a cambio de que la reina Margaery no tenga que realizar el paseo de la vergüenza como hizo Cersei Lannister, madre del rey.

   Queda pendiente el juicio a Cersei y a Loras Tyrell, hermano de la reina. Primero comparece Loras, que se arrepiente y se une a la Fe. Cuando llega la hora de enjuiciar a Cersei, esta no se presenta y hace desaparecer a todos los que estaban en el Septo provocando una explosión de fuego valyrio bajo el mismo. Como consecuencia, su hijo Tommen, el actual rey, se suicida.

   

   Arya Stark queda ciega y mendiga por las calles como castigo por no asesinar a quien le encargaron. Le hacen un nuevo encargo y de nuevo falla en su propósito. Pero le sirve para decidir regresar a Poniente en busca de su familia.

   Lo primero que hace es presentarse en Los Gemelos para vengar la muerte de su hermano Robb y a su madre, utilizando los cambios de identidad que ha aprendido.

   

   Nos queda por último Brandon Stark, que en la temporada 5 no aparece. Sigue al otro lado del Muro, protegido dentro de una cueva y entrenándose con el Cuervo de tres ojos para controlar sus visiones.

   En estos entrenamientos Brandon es testigo de escenas del pasado. Pero comete un error y los Caminantes Blancos descubren su escondite de la cueva. La atacan y caen todos menos Brandon y Meera Reed, que huyen hacia el Muro. Él es ahora el Cuervo de tres ojos.

   

   Se nota que la serie a estas alturas había alcanzado una gran popularidad y gozaba de amplio presupuesto. Los rodajes en exteriores aumentan y se aprecian efectos especiales que la dotan de un gran realismo.

   Atendiéndome a las tramas, en esta temporada me han gustado mucho las visiones del pasado de Brandon. Nos permiten conocer detalles que nos acercan a las motivaciones de los personajes para actuar como lo han hecho o siguen haciendo.

   Para mí el momento álgido es cuando se desvela el verdadero origen de Jon Nieve. ¡Brutal! No se me pasaba por la cabeza y, sin embargo, ahora encajan unas cuantas piezas que tenía sueltas, jeje. Me encanta que me sigan sorprendiendo al tiempo que mantienen la intriga, pues queda mucho por resolver todavía. Y el invierno ya está aquí.

   Hi, dear hiver.

   The end is near and I begin to feel a familiar uneasiness. On the one hand I want to move forward to find out what happens next. On the other hand I would like to slow down to prolong the time of enjoyment.

   Besides, this is the last season with 10 episodes. The remaining two are shorter in episodes but I will respect the frequency of one season a week so as not to mix up the plots. If I get ahead of myself and finish season 7 early, I plan to spend that time with films.

   Well, I'm going too long and you've come in for something else, so I'll start after I've done the...

   I keep revealing what happens in the series. If you continue reading it's at your own risk.

   

   The previous season ended with the treacherous murder of Jon Snow by the group of unsupportive Night's Watch led by Thorne. His faithful are devastated and Davos asks Melissandre to do what she can to resurrect him using her magic.

   It works and Jon decides to leave the Night's Watch, but before leaving Castle Black, Sansa Stark shows up with Brienne of Tarth and Podrick Payne. After reminiscing about their childhood, the siblings decide to reclaim Winterfell from the Boltons.

   

   They seek allies among the other houses of the North and barely manage to muster half the strength of their enemy. Even so, they go into battle, where Ramsay Bolton employs cruel strategies causing countless casualties, but is finally defeated thanks to the help of the knights of the Vale at the last moment.

   After this victory Jon Snow is proclaimed the new King of the North, but Littlefinger, who is present at the time, disagrees and leaves us to wonder what he will do next.

   Meanwhile, his friend Samwell Tarly leaves with Eli and the baby with the intention of returning as a Maester. Sam's idea was to leave Eli and the baby with his family, but the father treats them badly and the three of them go to the Citadel together.

   

   Daenerys is captured by the Dothraki and they try to lock her up in a kind of sanctuary for the widows of the previous khals. She sets fire to the place where the khalasar chieftains are making their decision and emerges unharmed from the flames as she did once before.

   She returns to Meereen in time to defeat the slavers again and receives Theon and Yara Greyjoy, who join her in offering her their ships. They are also joined by Houses Martell and Tyrell, who wish to take revenge on the Lannisters.

   The youngest of them, Tyrion Lannister, takes charge of the city of Meereen in the queen's absence and does well, gaining Daenerys' trust and naming him her Hand.

   

   In King's Landing the zealots of the Faith of the Seven continue to enforce their regime. They get the kings to join their cause in exchange for Queen Margaery not having to do the walk of shame as Cersei Lannister, mother of the king, did.

   The trial of Cersei and Loras Tyrell, the queen's brother, remains to be heard. First Loras appears, who repents and joins the Faith. When it comes time for Cersei's trial, she fails to appear and makes everyone in the Sept disappear by causing an explosion of Valyrian fire beneath it. As a result, her son Tommen, the current king, commits suicide.

   

   Arya Stark is left blind and begging in the streets as punishment for not killing the one she was commissioned to kill. She is given a new task and again fails in her purpose. But it helps her decide to return to Westeros in search of her family.

   The first thing she does is to show up at The Twins to avenge the death of her brother Robb and her mother, using the identity changes she has learned.

   

   Lastly, there is Brandon Stark, who did not appear in season 5. He is still on the other side of the Wall, protected inside a cave and training with the Three-Eyed Raven to control his visions.

   In this training Brandon witnesses scenes from the past. But he makes a mistake and the White Walkers discover his cave hideout. They attack it and all fall except Brandon and Meera Reed, who flee to the Wall. He is now the Three-Eyed Raven.

   

   It is noticeable that the series by this point had achieved great popularity and enjoyed a large budget. The outdoor filming is increasing and the special effects give the series a realism that makes it more realistic.

   Looking at the plots, this season I really liked the glimpses into Brandon's past. They allow us to know details that bring us closer to the characters' motivations for acting as they have done or continue to do.

   For me, the highlight is when Jon Snow's true origin is revealed. Brutal! It didn't cross my mind, and yet now a few pieces I had loose fit together, hehe. I love that they keep surprising me while keeping the intrigue going, because there's still a lot to be solved. And winter is already here.

   Hola, querido hiver.

   Pasado el ecuador de la serie Juego de Tronos continúo con mis reseñas. El invierno se acerca cada vez más y empezamos a conocer el alcance de lo que viene. Las leyendas son ciertas, el mundo está en peligro y como no se empiecen a poner de acuerdo entre reinos el final será inevitable para todos.

   Antes de seguir con la reseña, hago mi pertinente...

   Debo seguir desvelando lo que va sucede en la serie, así que estás avisado. Es tu elección continuar leyendo o no.

   

   Tyrion Lannister huye de Desembarco del Rey gracias a la ayuda de Varys, el Consejero de los Rumores. Llegan a Volantis y allí durante una escaramuza en un burdel cae en las manos de Jorah, el antiguo asesor de Dannaerys Targaryan que fue expulsado por espiarla. La idea de Jorah es llevar a Tyrion ante ella como premio para que le perdone.

   El camino hasta Meereen no será nada fácil. Primero pasan por una ciudad abandonada donde les atacan unos Hombres de Piedra y más tarde se topan con unos esclavistas. Aprovechan el encuentro para ser llevados hasta Meereen en condición de esclavos para la lucha en los reñideros.

   

   Daenerys ha tenido que restituir los reñideros muy a su pesar, pero esta parece ser la única forma de que el pueblo de la ciudad de Meereen la admita como reina. Sin embargo, los anteriores amos no se conforman y se producen graves altercados que terminan con una de las escenas más emocionantes hasta ahora, cuando Daenerys monta por primera vez a lomos de Drogon.

   

   Saltamos al sur de Poniente, al reino de Dorne. Aquí está Myrcella, la única hermana del actual rey Tommen Baratheon. Justo cuando se promete con el príncipe Trystan Martell se presenta su tío (en realidad su padre) Jamie Lannister dispuesto a llevársela.

   Aprovechando la coyuntura tenemos a Ellaria Arena dispuesta a vengar la muerte de Oberyn Martell, hermano del rey de Dorne. Para ello reúne a las que eran sus hijas, las Serpientes de Arena.

   

   Ascendemos en el mapa hasta Desembarco del Rey. Allí Cersei Lannister ejerce realmente el gobierno como madre del actual rey Tommen, que es fácilmente manejado por ella.

   Cersei trata de minar la confianza de su hijo en su reciente esposa la reina Margaery. Utiliza a unos fanáticos religiosos como instrumento para atacar al hermano de Margaery, pero el plan se vuelve en su contra. Ver a esta mujer encerrada en una celda, chupando el suelo para conseguir agua derramada, ha sido otro momento álgido de lo que llevamos de serie. ¡Ya era hora de que sufriese de verdad!

   

   Por su parte Arya Stark llega a Braavos. Consigue que la acepten en la Casa de Blanco y Negro. Al principio no entiende nada de lo que debe hacer para aprender. Solo barre y lava los cadáveres de personas que mueren en la Casa.

   Poco a poco convence al hombre que lleva la cara de Jaqen y éste le confiere la misión de asesinar a un hombre. Cuando casi la cumple aparece por Daavos uno de los hombres que se había jurado matar y se desvía del cometido asignado.

   

   Su hermana Sansa es llevada por Meñique al encuentro con los Bolton. Por el camino se cruzan con Brienne y Pod, pero Sansa no confía en ellos ya que no los conoce. Meñique convence a Sansa para que se case con Ramsay Bolton y de este modo haga justicia a su familia desde esa posición. Pretende que se convierta en la Guardiana del Norte.

   El matrimonio anterior de Sansa con Tyrion Lannister se considera nulo por no haberse consumado. En este otro Ramsay se encarga de hacerlo de forma brutal y violenta, obligando a estar presente a Hediondo (Theon Greyjoy).

   Mientras esto sucede, Brienne y Pod permanecen cerca a la espera de una solicitud de ayuda por parte de Sansa.

   

   El rey Stannis Baratheon trata de obtener la lealtad de los salvajes del otro lado del Muro para que le ayuden a vencer a los Bolton que están en Invernalia. Al negarse su cabecilla ordena quemarlo. Intenta entonces convencer a Jon Nieve, al que los salvajes comienzan a respetar, pero este permanece fiel a la Guardia de la Noche.

   Stannis se marcha sin hacer caso a las advertencias de que el mal tiempo no dejará que venzan en Invernalia. Ante las primeras señales de pérdidas en su ejército la sacerdotisa Melissandre le dice que necesita hacer otro sacrificio de sangre. La elegida en esta ocasión es la princesa Shireen, la propia hija de Stannis.

   

   En el Castillo Negro Jon Nieve es elegido Lord Comandante de la Guardia de la Noche. Marcha en compañía de Tormund el salvaje y otros guardianes de la noche hacia el Norte del Muro. El objetivo es hablar con los líderes de los clanes y convencerles de que luchen junto a los hombres de los Siete Reinos cuando llegue el momento de enfrentarse a los Caminantes Blancos.

   Mientras algunos clanes se muestran reacios otros acceden, pero cuando están embarcando aparece un ejército de espectros seguidos de Caminantes Blancos. Casi todos los salvajes que quedaban allí mueren y al alejarse hacia los barcos de regreso el Rey de la Noche y Jon Nieve mantienen sus miradas. Al regresar al Castillo Negro, aparecen de nuevo primero Davos para pedirle hombres para la batalla de Invernalia y después Melissandre quien confirma sin palabras la derrota acaecida por Stanis Baratheon.

   Quien no aparece en toda la temporada es Bran Stark, se supone que sigue más allá del Muro pero solamente es nombrado por Theon Greyjoy cuando le confiesa a Sansa Stark que en lugar de asesinar a sus hermanos pequeños mataron a unos campesinos y les hicieron pasar por ellos.

   

   Tras la oscuridad de la cuarta temporada de nuevo se recuperan escenarios luminosos y escenas de exteriores. Me hizo especial ilusión reconocer algunos lugares en los que he estado personalmente como el Puente Romano de Córdoba o el Real Alcázar de Sevilla. No serán los únicos, pues la producción recorrerá más puntos de la geografía española.

   Las batallas de esta temporada son cortas, cosa que he agradecido porque en la anterior terminé saturada de mandobles y flechas voladoras. En esta hay más cuchillo degollador, sobre todo en Meereen, jajaja. La acción quizá sea menos trepidante pero me parece igual de impactante por la crudeza de determinados sucesos como el sacrificio de la princesa Shireen.

   La sexta es la última temporada de 10 episodios, esto va cada vez más rápido y no quiero que llegue el final pero no puedo parar. Sigo enganchada y disfrutando, que es lo importante.

   Hi, dear hiver.

   After the halfway point of the series Game of Thrones I continue with my reviews. Winter is getting closer and closer and we are beginning to know the extent of what is to come. The legends are true, the world is in peril and unless the kingdoms start to come to terms with each other the end will be inevitable for all.

   Before I go on with the review, I make my pertinent....

   I have to keep spoiling what's going on in the series, so be warned. It's your choice to continue reading or not.

   

   Tyrion Lannister flees King's Landing with the help of Varys, the Counselor of Rumors. They reach Volantis and there during a skirmish in a brothel he falls into the hands of Jorah, Dannaerys Targaryan's former advisor who was expelled for spying on her. Jorah's idea is to bring Tyrion to her as a reward for forgiveness.

   The road to Meereen will be far from easy. First they pass through an abandoned city where they are attacked by Stone Men and later encounter slavers. They take advantage of the encounter to be taken to Meereen as slaves for the fight in the quarrels.

   

   Daenerys has been forced to reinstate the dueling grounds, much to her regret, but this seems to be the only way for the people of the city of Meereen to admit her as queen. However, the former masters are not content and serious altercations ensue, ending with one of the most exciting scenes so far, when Daenerys rides Drogon for the first time.

   

   We jump to the south of Westeros, to the kingdom of Dorne. Here is Myrcella, the only sister of the current King Tommen Baratheon. Just as she is betrothed to Prince Trystan Martell, her uncle (actually her father) Jamie Lannister shows up, ready to take her away.

   Taking advantage of the situation, we have Ellaria Arena ready to avenge the death of Oberyn Martell, brother of the King of Dorne. To do so, she gathers her daughters, the Sand Snakes.

   

   We move up the map to King's Landing. There Cersei Lannister actually exercises rule as the mother of the current King Tommen, who is easily managed by her.

   Cersei tries to undermine her son's trust in his recent wife Queen Margaery. She uses religious fanatics as a tool to attack Margaery's brother, but the plan backfires. Seeing this woman locked in a cell, sucking on the floor for spilled water, was another highlight of the series so far. It's about time she really suffered!

   

   Arya Stark arrives in Braavos. She is accepted into the House of Black and White. At first she understands nothing of what she must do to learn. She just sweeps and washes the corpses of people who die in the House.

   Gradually he convinces the man who wears Jaqen's face and the man gives him a mission to assassinate a man. Just as he is about to complete his mission, one of the men he had sworn to kill appears in Daavos and deviates from his assigned task.

   

   His sister Sansa is taken by Littlefinger to meet the Boltons. On the way they meet Brienne and Pod, but Sansa does not trust them as she does not know them. Littlefinger convinces Sansa to marry Ramsay Bolton and thus do justice to her family from that position. He intends for her to become the Warden of the North.

   Sansa's previous marriage to Tyrion Lannister is considered null and void because it was not consummated. In this one, Ramsay does it brutally and violently, forcing Hediondo (Theon Greyjoy) to be present.

   While this is happening, Brienne and Pod remain nearby, waiting for a request for help from Sansa.

   

   King Stannis Baratheon tries to gain the loyalty of the wildlings on the other side of the Wall to help him defeat the Boltons at Winterfell. When their leader refuses, he orders them burned. He then tries to convince Jon Snow, whom the wildlings begin to respect, but he remains loyal to the Night's Watch.

   Stannis leaves without heeding warnings that bad weather will not let them win at Winterfell. At the first signs of losses in his army, the priestess Melissandre tells him that he needs to make another blood sacrifice. The chosen one this time is Princess Shireen, Stannis' own daughter.

   

   At Castle Black Jon Snow is elected Lord Commander of the Night's Watch. He marches in the company of Tormund the Wildling and other Night's Watch to North of the Wall. The aim is to speak to the clan leaders and convince them to fight alongside the men of the Seven Kingdoms when the time comes to face the White Walkers.

   While some clans are reluctant, others agree, but just as they are embarking, an army of wraiths appears, followed by White Walkers. Almost all of the remaining wildlings are killed and as they walk away to the returning ships the Night's King and Jon Snow hold their gazes. As they return to Castle Black, first Davos appears again to ask for men for the battle of Winterfell and then Melissandre who wordlessly confirms the defeat of Stanis Baratheon.

   Bran Stark does not appear in the whole season, he is supposed to be still beyond the Wall but he is only mentioned by Theon Greyjoy when he confesses to Sansa Stark that instead of murdering his younger brothers they killed some peasants and made them pass for them.

   

   After the darkness of the fourth season, light scenes and outdoor scenes are brought back. I was particularly excited to recognise some places I have been to personally, such as the Roman Bridge in Cordoba and the Real Alcazar in Seville. They will not be the only ones, as the production will travel to more places in Spain.

   This season's battles are short, which I was grateful for, because in the previous season I ended up being saturated with swords and flying arrows. In this one there are more slashing knives, especially in Meereen, hahaha. The action is perhaps less fast-paced but I find it just as shocking because of the crudeness of certain events such as the sacrifice of Princess Shireen.

   The sixth is the last season of 10 episodes, this is going faster and faster and I don't want the end to come but I can't stop. I'm still hooked and enjoying it, which is the important thing.

4. ›Juego de Tronos T.4: Todos los hombres deben morir // Game of Thrones S.4: All men must die@palomap3590d

   

   

   Hola, querido hiver.

   Bienvenido a una nueva entrega de esta serie de reseñas sobre Juego de Tronos en la que comento una por una cada temporada. Hemos superado ya la mitad de la serie y las tramas siguen entrelazándose. Los personajes empiezan a recibir las consecuencias de sus acciones, en algunos casos con destinos más que merecidos y en otros nos toca seguir sufriendo por ellos, jeje.

   Antes de seguir con la reseña, debo hacer el pertinente...

   Para continuar con las reseñas debo desvelar lo que va sucediendo en la serie, así que estás avisado. Es tu elección continuar leyendo o no.

   

   En esta temporada Tyrion Lannister recupera el protagonismo aunque no para bien. En el banquete de bodas de su sobrino el rey Joffrey con Margaery Tyrell, el soberano es envenenado y Cersei acusa a su hermano Tyrion. Se celebra un juicio amañado que termina por resolverse con un duelo entre el príncipe Oberyn Martell y el caballero que llaman la Montaña. El juicio saca a la luz traiciones y apoyos familiares que el espectador podía intuir y ahora ve confirmados.

   

   Sansa Stark, recién casada con Tyrion, consigue escabullirse y huir del banquete en el que muere el rey Joffrey. Termina en las manos de Meñique, quien la lleva al Nido de Águilas donde gobierna la tía de Sansa. Meñique y la tía se casan, pero él enreda para que su mujer sea presa de un ataque de celos y acaba lanzándola al vacío.

   Meñique es acusado de la muerte de su esposa pero consigue salir airoso de la situación con el apoyo de Sansa y actúa como regente del nuevo Señor del Valle.

   

   En Rocadragón Gendry Baratheon logra escapar con la ayuda de Davos. El rey Stannis decide salir rumbo al norte y se lleva con él a su familia y a Melissandre. En esta parte no hay mucha acción respecto a estos personajes.

   

   El Castillo Negro recibe el ataque coordinado de los salvajes por el norte y por el sur del Muro. La situación se complica de modo que Jon Nieve debe hacerse cargo del mando de la Guardia de la Noche en los momentos cruciales. Esto no gustará al comandante en funciones, que ya le tenía suficiente ojeriza.

   El amigo de Jon Nieve, Samwell, envía a Elí y a su hijo a la aldea más cercana para mantenerlos a salvo. Al poco tiempo los salvajes asaltan la aldea y consiguen escapar, regresando de nuevo al Castillo Negro. En el gran ataque permanecen ocultos en la despensa y quedan a salvo.

   

   Ramsay utiliza a Theon Greyjoy como cebo para recuperar una fortaleza rebelde para su padre. Su victoria trae como consecuencia que su padre le concede su apellido y le nombra heredero de la casa Bolton.

   

   Después de liberar a los esclavos de Yunkai Daenerys Targaryen consigue lo mismo en la ciudad de Meereen. Aquí se establece y comienza a reinar de verdad, descubriendo que las cosas no son tan sencillas como pensaba.

   

   Arya Stark viaja con el Perro hacia el Nido de Águilas. Allí el desertor de la Guardia Real pretende entregarla a su tía para recibir una recompensa. Por el camino mantienen una relación de protección y defensa mutua, saliendo al paso de las dificultades.

   

   Brienne va en busca de cumplir la promesa que hizo de recuperar a las chicas Stark. No lo hace sola, cuenta con la ayuda de Pod, el que fuera escudero de Tyrion. Consiguen encontrar a Arya y al Perro pero Arya no cree que ella y la rechaza.

   

   Al norte del Muro Bran Stark sigue con la búsqueda del cuervo de tres ojos y con la ayuda de los hermanos Reed y de Hodor. Se enfrentan a unos seres que no mueren hasta que son salvados por un niño que les lleva hasta un hombre que dice estar esperándoles.

   

   Esta temporada es más oscura que la anterior, pues el peso de la acción se desarrolla en su mayor parte en la zona norte. El clímax se alcanza en el capítulo noveno, dedicado íntegramente a la contienda librada en el Muro y el asalto al Castillo Negro. Para mi gusto es excesivo, terminé agotada de escuchar disparos de flechas y golpes de espadas.

   Reconozco no obstante el mérito de los efectos especiales. Los gigantes y los mamuts parecen reales, están bien logrados. Tampoco le quito valor a la coordinación de decenas de personas manteniendo una batalla en escaso espacio. Es un trabajo de coreografía espectacular. Pero mantener ese nivel de acción ininterrumpida hizo que por primera vez desde que comencé la serie mirase el reloj esperando que el capítulo terminara.

   Hi, dear hiver.

   Welcome to a new instalment in this series of Game of Thrones reviews in which I comment on each season one by one. We're over halfway through the series and the plots continue to intertwine. The characters begin to receive the consequences of their actions, in some cases with more than deserved fates and in others we have to continue suffering for them, hehe.

   Before I go on with the review, I must make the relevant...

   This season Tyrion Lannister is back in the limelight, but not for the better. At the wedding feast of his nephew King Joffrey with Margaery Tyrell, the ruler is poisoned and Cersei accuses her brother Tyrion. A rigged trial ensues that ends with a duel between Prince Oberyn Martell and the knight they call the Mountain. The trial brings to light betrayals and family support that the viewer could have guessed and now sees confirmed.

   

   Sansa Stark, newly married to Tyrion, manages to sneak away from the banquet at which King Joffrey dies. She ends up in the hands of Littlefinger, who takes her to the Eagles Nest where Sansa's aunt rules. Littlefinger and the aunt marry, but he entangles her so that his wife falls prey to a fit of jealousy and ends up throwing her overboard.

   Littlefinger is accused of his wife's death but manages to extricate himself from the situation with Sansa's support and acts as regent for the new Lord of the Vale.

   

   At Dragonstone, Gendry Baratheon escapes with the help of Davos. King Stannis decides to leave for the North and takes his family and Melissandre with him. In this part there is not much action concerning these characters.

   

   Castle Black comes under coordinated attack from the wildlings to the north and south of the Wall. The situation is complicated so that Jon Snow must take command of the Night's Watch at crucial moments. This will not go down well with the acting commander, who has had enough of a grudge against him.

   Jon Snow's friend Samwell sends Eli and his son to the nearest village to keep them safe. Before long the wildlings raid the village and manage to escape, returning to Castle Black. In the great attack they remain hidden in the larder and are safe.

   

   Ramsay uses Theon Greyjoy as bait to recapture a rebel stronghold for his father. His victory results in his father granting him his surname and naming him heir to House Bolton.

   

   After freeing the slaves of Yunkai Daenerys Targaryen achieves the same in the city of Meereen. Here she settles down and begins to truly reign, discovering that things are not as simple as she thought.

   

   Arya Stark travels with the Hound to the Eagles Nest. There the deserter from the Kingsguard intends to hand her over to his aunt for a reward. Along the way, they maintain a relationship of mutual protection and defence, and overcome difficulties.

   

   Brienne goes on a quest to fulfil the promise she made to get the Stark girls back. She doesn't do it alone, but with the help of Pod, Tyrion's former squire. They manage to find Arya and the Hound but Arya doesn't believe her and rejects her.

   

   North of the Wall Bran Stark continues his search for the three-eyed raven with the help of the Reed brothers and Hodor. They are confronted by beings who do not die until they are saved by a boy who leads them to a man who claims to be waiting for them.

   

   This season is darker than the last, with the bulk of the action taking place in the North. The climax is reached in the ninth chapter, devoted entirely to the battle at the Wall and the assault on Castle Black. For my taste it is excessive, I ended up exhausted from listening to arrows shooting and swords clashing.

   I do, however, recognise the merit of the special effects. The giants and mammoths look real, they are well done. Nor do I detract from the coordination of dozens of people holding a battle in a small space. It's spectacular choreography. But maintaining that level of non-stop action made me look at the clock for the first time since I started the series, waiting for the episode to end.

5. ›Juego de Tronos T.3: Todos los hombres deben servir // Game of Thrones S.3: All men must serve@palomap3597d

   

   

   Hola, querido hiver.

   Sigo devorando la serie Juego de tronos y la complejidad aumenta capítulo a capítulo con la evolución de cada personaje. Hay algunos que en principio te parecen malos malísimos y después les terminas cogiendo hasta cariño cuando conoces su pasado y comprendes por qué son como son y hacen lo que hacen.

   Son tan humanos como cualquiera. Pienso que ahí radica gran parte del éxito que tuvo la serie. Nos podemos identificar en determinados momentos con unos y con otros, pues muestra la realidad de las emociones y conductas. A nuestra menor o mayor escala nos movemos por idénticos apetitos, damos o sufrimos las mismas traiciones, basamos nuestras vidas en los mismos valores.

   Antes de seguir con la reseña, debo hacer el pertinente...

   No puedo continuar con las reseñas sin desvelar lo que va sucediendo en la serie, así que desde ya quedas avisado. Dejo a tu elección el continuar leyendo o no.

   

   Robb Stark ha ganado batallas pero pierde la guerra. Parte de sus aliados le abandona por haber roto su palabra de casarse con la hija de uno de ellos para hacerlo por amor. Para que regresen a su lado no le queda otro remedio que organizar otra boda por conveniencia pero la afrenta no se le perdona.

   También tiene noticias de la caída de Invernalia y de la desaparición de sus hermanos menores. Estos se dirigen hacia el Muro con el objetivo de reunirse allí con Jon Snow y por el camino se les unen unos hermanos algo extraños. Bran Stark, el niño que quedó con las piernas inmovilizadas, descubre que posee poderes especiales que le permiten introducirse en las mentes de determinados animales y personas.

   

   En Desembarco del Rey también hay movimientos después de repeler el ataque de Stannis Baratheon. Con el regreso de Tywin Lannister salen a flote los motivos de las malas relaciones familiares. Mientras el actual rey Joffrey es prometido a Margaery Tyrell y se prepara su boda, el patriarca obliga a que su hijo menor Tyrion se case con Sansa Stark y a que su hija Cersei haga lo propio con el hermano de la prometida del rey.

   Lady Olenna, abuela de Margaery Tyrell, es un personaje genial. Ejerce su poder dando una cara amable y es el contrapunto perfecto al patriarca de los Lannister. La escena en la que deja patente el laberinto de consanguinidad que se está fraguando entre ambas familias es delirante, me encantó.

   

   La sacerdotisa Melissandre encuentra a Gendry Baratheon, el hijo bastardo del rey Robbert que acompañaba a Arya Stark en su huida de Desembarco del Rey hacia Invernalia. Se lo lleva a los dominios de su tío Stannis con la idea de sacrificarle para sus maléficos fines.

   Arya, por su parte, termina a manos de Gregor Clegane, alias El Perro, desertor de la Guardia Real de Joffrey Baratheon, quien la lleva a encontrarse con su hermano Robb Stark.

   Los tres estaban en manos de la llamada Hermandad sin Estandartes, un grupo de soldados que forman una suerte de banda de resistencia.

   

   Theon Greyjoy cae prisionero y le torturan de mil maneras. A pesar de la crueldad que derrochó en Invernalia hay escenas en las que padeces por él. Quien le tortura es Ramsay, un hijo bastardo de Lord Bolton, señor que acompaña a Robb Stark.

   A estas alturas empiezo a perderme un poco entre tanto hijo bastardo, más aún cuando son de personajes secundarios (al menos por el momento). Me congratulo de contar con buena memoria para las caras porque si fuera por los nombres y apellidos para mí sería imposible seguirlos.

   

   Al Este, Daenerys Targaryen consigue cada vez más apoyo para su causa. Al inicio de la temporada compra un gran ejército, los Inmaculados, y los libera. Todos se unen a ella.

   Siguen avanzando y llegan a las puertas de Yunkai, una ciudad llena de esclavos. Allí los soldados mercenarios Segundos Hijos pretenden asesinarla.

   

   En cuanto a Jon Nieve, queda separado del resto de sus compañeros de la Guardia de la Noche y es llevado ante el jefe de los salvajes. Se une a su causa y escalan el Muro. Cuando se adentran en las tierras del Norte, Jon consigue escapar de ellos aunque sale malherido por las flechas que le dispara la salvaje con la que ha tenido una relación.

   En la separación su amigo Sam regresa con el resto Guardianes de la Noche. Rescata a Elí y a su hijo, se salvan del ataque de un caminante blanco y atraviesan el Muro por un pasaje. Llegan al Castillo Negro poco tiempo antes de que aparezca ante sus puertas su amigo Jon Nieve.

   

   Una trama a destacar es la que atraviesan Jamie Lannister (hermano y amante de Cersei y tío del actual rey) y Brienne Tarth. Ella tiene como misión llevar al cautivo con su familia a Desembarco del Rey. Él jura a cambio devolver a Sansa y Arya Stark a su madre.

   La tarea no es sencilla, les suceden todo tipo de vicisitudes que ponen a prueba su lealtad mutua. Mientras que al comienzo de la temporada se tenían que soportar a disgusto, terminan por arriesgar sus vidas por salvar la del otro. También proporcionan algunas escenas de humor que aligeran el dramatismo de su situación.

   

   En esta tercera temporada me da la impresión de que la escenografía es más luminosa en general y que aumentan las escenas en exteriores. Lo he agradecido tras la atmósfera en ocasiones asfixiante de la temporada anterior.

   Me temo que seguirán cayendo por el camino personajes con los que me encariño, como así ha pasado hasta ahora. No sé si es impresión mía, pero las muertes ahora son menos explícitas que al principio de la serie. Sospecho que me estoy acostumbrando a la sangre.

   Hi, dear hiver.

   I continue to devour the series Game of thrones and the complexity increases chapter by chapter with the evolution of each character. There are some characters that at first you thought were really bad and then you end up liking them when you get to know their past and understand why they are the way they are and do what they do.

   They are as human as anyone else. I think that's a big part of the success of the series. We can identify at certain times with one or the other, because it shows the reality of emotions and behaviour. On a smaller or larger scale we are driven by the same appetites, we give or suffer the same betrayals, we base our lives on one or the other values.

   Before I go on with the review, I must make the relevant....

   I can't go on with the reviews without giving away what's going on in the series, so you've been warned. I leave it up to you whether to continue reading or not.

   

   Robb Stark has won battles but lost the war. A part of his allies abandon him for having broken his word to marry the daughter of one of them to do it for love. To bring them back to his side, he has no choice but to arrange another wedding of convenience, but the affront is not forgiven.

   He also learns of the fall of Winterfell and the disappearance of his younger brothers. They head for the Wall to join Jon Snow there, and along the way they are joined by some strange siblings. Bran Stark, the boy whose legs are immobilised, discovers that he has special powers that allow him to enter the minds of certain animals and people.

   

   In King's Landing there is also movement after repelling Stannis Baratheon's attack. With the return of Tywin Lannister, the reasons for bad family relations come to the fore. While the current King Joffrey is betrothed to Margaery Tyrell and preparations are underway for their wedding, the patriarch forces his youngest son Tyrion to marry Sansa Stark and his daughter Cersei to marry the brother of the king's betrothed.

   Lady Olenna, Margaery Tyrell's grandmother, is a great character. She wields her power with a kind face and is the perfect counterpoint to the Lannister patriarch. The scene in which she makes clear the labyrinth of inbreeding that is being forged between the two families is delirious, I loved it.

   

   The priestess Melissandre finds Gendry Baratheon, the bastard son of King Robbert who accompanied Arya Stark on her escape from King's Landing to Winterfell. He takes him to the domain of his uncle Stannis with the idea of sacrificing him to his evil ends.

   Arya, meanwhile, ends up in the hands of Gregor Clegane, aka The Hound, a deserter from Joffrey Baratheon's Kingsguard, who takes her to meet his brother Robb Stark.

   The three were in the hands of the so-called Brotherhood Without Banners, a group of soldiers who form a kind of resistance band.

   

   Theon Greyjoy is taken prisoner and tortured in a thousand ways. Despite the cruelty he wasted at Winterfell, there are scenes in which you suffer for him. The one who tortures him is Ramsay, a bastard son of Lord Bolton, the lord who accompanies Robb Stark.

   At this point I'm starting to get a bit lost among so many bastard sons, even more so when they belong to secondary characters (at least for the moment). I'm glad I have a good memory for the faces because if it were for the names and surnames it would be impossible for me to keep track of them.

   

   In the east, Daenerys Targaryen gains increasing support for her cause. At the beginning of the season she buys a large army, the Unsullied, and frees them. They all join her.

   They continue to advance and arrive at the gates of Yunkai, a city full of slaves. There the mercenary soldiers Second Sons intend to assassinate her.

   

   As for Jon Snow, he is separated from the rest of his fellow Night's Watch and is brought before the chieftain of the wildlings. He joins their cause and they climb the Wall. As they enter the Northlands, Jon manages to escape them but is badly wounded by arrows shot at him by the wildling with whom he has been having an affair.

   At the split his friend Sam returns with the rest of the Night's Watch. He rescues Eli and her son, they are saved from a White Walker attack and cross the Wall through a passage. They arrive at Castle Black shortly before their friend Jon Snow appears at their gates.

   

   A plot highlight is the one between Jamie Lannister (brother and lover of Cersei and uncle of the current king) and Brienne Tarth. She is on a mission to bring the captive to her family in King's Landing. He vows in return to return Sansa and Arya Stark to their mother.

   The task is not an easy one. All sorts of vicissitudes befall them, testing their loyalty to each other. Whereas at the beginning of the season they had to put up with each other reluctantly, they end up risking their lives to save each other's lives. They also provide some humorous scenes that lighten the drama of their situation.

   

   In this third season I have the impression that the scenery is brighter in general and that the outdoor scenes have increased. I appreciated this after the sometimes suffocating atmosphere of the previous season.

   I'm afraid that characters I'm fond of will continue to fall by the wayside, as they have so far. I don't know if it's my impression, but the deaths are now less explicit than at the beginning of the series. I suspect that I'm getting used to the blood.

6. ›“Game of Thrones”: A light at the end of the tunnel.@wiseagent600d

   In terms of television events provided by television series, there is no shadow of a doubt that Game of Thrones was one of the most ambitious, most impactful and most popular projects of all time. Its eighth season brought a conclusion with a very bitter taste for the audience (particularly speaking, I can't accept that sequence of wrong decisions in the last episode), but everything is about to change.

   Through at least one movie, Game of Thrones will return. This idea was something originally considered by the creators of the series and George R. R. Martin himself (writer of the literary franchise), who suggested the continuation of what was seen in the television series being completed on the big screen. However, at the time, HBO (who produced this product from start to finish... and spent a lot of money on it) didn't move forward with this idea without giving any reason.

   Fortunately, after a “long” five years, Warner Bros. gave the green light for a movie to be produced. Therefore, the universe created by Martin will gain a new chance to redeem itself in front of its fans. Nothing else about the project is a reality, but one thing is really certain (even as a matter of logic): many things in the main characters' timeline will certainly change (I personally have no idea what is being thought of in the paper).

   The fact is that just a single confirmation was already able to generate a lot of hype in the fan community, and cinema will certainly embrace this project in the way it deserves. Even if it's just a single movie, I'm betting my money that the work done will honor the legacy of the television series and the books that have been written here so far (and I hope I'm not wrong for making a big bet). Anyway, now I can only wait for what's to come.

   En términos de eventos televisivos proporcionados por las series de televisión, no hay duda de que Juego de Tronos fue uno de los proyectos más ambiciosos, impactantes y populares de todos los tiempos. Su octava temporada trajo un final con un sabor muy amargo para el público (sobre todo, no puedo aceptar esa secuencia de decisiones equivocadas en el último episodio), pero todo está a punto de cambiar.

   A través de al menos una película, Juego de Tronos regresará. Esta idea fue algo que consideraron originalmente los creadores de la serie y el próprio George R. R. Martin (guionista de la franquicia literaria), quienes sugirieron que la continuación de lo visto en la serie de televisión se completara en la pantalla grande. Sin embargo, en ese momento, HBO (que produjo este producto de principio a fin... y gastó mucho dinero en él) no siguió adelante con esta idea sin dar ningún motivo.

   Afortunadamente, después de cinco “largos” años, Warner Bros. dio luz verde a la producción de una película. Por tanto, el universo creado por Martin tendrá una nueva oportunidad de redimirse frente a sus fans. Nada más sobre el proyecto es una realidad, pero una cosa es realmente segura (incluso como una cuestión de lógica): muchas cosas en la línea temporal de los personajes principales ciertamente cambiarán (personalmente no tengo idea de lo que se piensa en el artículo).

   El caso es que una sola confirmación ya logró generar mucho revuelo en la comunidad de fans, y el cine seguramente acogerá este proyecto como se merece. Incluso si se trata de una sola película, apuesto mi dinero a que el trabajo realizado honrará el legado de la serie de televisión y los libros que se han escrito aquí hasta ahora (y espero no equivocarme al hacer una gran apuesta). En fin, ahora sólo me queda esperar lo que está por venir.

   Em termos de acontecimentos televisivos proporcionados por séries de televisão, não há a menor sombra de dúvidas que Game of Thrones foi um dos projetos mais ambiciosos, mais impactantes e mais populares de todos os tempos. A sua oitava temporada trouxe uma conclusão com um gosto bastante amargo para o público (particularmente falando, eu não consigo aceitar aquela sequência de decisões erradas justo no último episódio), mas tudo está prestes a mudar.

   Através de pelo menos um filme, Game of Thrones irá retornar. Essa ideia foi algo originalmente pesado pelos próprios criadores da série e do próprio George R. R. Martin (escritor da franquia literária), que sugeriram a continuação do que foi visto na série de televisão sendo concluído nas telonas do cinema. No entanto, na época, a HBO (que produziu esse produto do começo ao final... e gastou muito dinheiro com isso) não avançou com essa ideia sem dar qualquer motivo.

   Felizmente, após “longos” cinco anos, a Warner Bros. deu o sinal verde para que um filme seja produzido. Sendo assim, o universo criado por Martin ganhará uma nova chance de se redimir diante dos seus fãs. Nada mais sobre o projeto é uma realidade, mas uma coisa é realmente certa (até por uma questão de lógica): muitas coisas na linha do tempo dos personagens principais certamente mudarão (eu particularmente não faço ideia do que está sendo pensado no papel).

   O fato é que apenas uma única confirmação já foi capaz de gerar um grande hype na comunidade de fãs, e certamente o cinema irá abraçar esse projeto da maneira como ele merece. Mesmo que seja apenas um único filme, eu aposto as minhas fichas de que o trabalho feito irá honrar o legado da série de televisão e dos livros que foram escritos aqui até então (e eu espero não estar errado por fazer uma aposta alta). Enfim, agora só me resta esperar pelo que está por vir.

7. ›Juego de Tronos T.2: Cinco reyes. Un trono. // Game of Thrones S.2: Five kings. One throne.@palomap3604d

   

   

   Hola, querido hiver.

   El final de la primera temporada de Juego de tronos dejó la intriga en el aire, como debe ser si quieres que tus seguidores se queden enganchados a tu serie. Necesitas saber qué es lo siguiente que sucede.

   Aviso de spoiler

   A partir de aquí es imposible continuar con las reseñas sin desvelar lo que va sucediendo en la serie, así que desde ya quedas avisado. Si eres de los que no les importa conocer los finales, adelante y bienvenido. Yo misma conozco quién termina por ocupar el famoso trono de hierro y eso no me impide que la esté disfrutando cada minuto, pero precisamente porque respeto mucho los gustos de cada uno te lo dejo a tu sabia y oportuna elección.

   

   Tras los asesinatos las muertes del rey Robert Baratheon y de Lord Stark ahora tenemos a Joffrey Baratheon como rey y a Robb Stark como su máximo enemigo que busca vengar la muerte de su padre. Para ello se dirige hacia Desembarco del Rey con las tropas del Norte y deja a su hermano Bran gobernando Invernalia en su ausencia.

   

   Le saldrá al encuentro Tywin Lannister, actual patriarca de la familia. Este envía a su hijo menor, Tyrion, a Desembarco del Rey para que sea la Mano de Joffrey en su ausencia.

   El personaje de Tyrion es fascinante. Representa al miembro díscolo de la familia, capaz de decirles a la cara sus miserias y de enfrentarse a quien haga falta. A pesar de ser físicamente el más débil de todos por su acondroplasia (enanismo) su espiritu de supervivencia le lleva a liderar con éxito las tropas de su sobrino.

   

   Aparece en escena otro rey aspirante al Trono de Hierro. Se trata del hermano del fallecido Robert, Stannis Baratheon. Este se alía con una sacerdotisa muy oscura llamada Melissandre. Es ella quien le convence de marchar a recuperar el reino.

   Stannis se planta en las murallas de Desembarco del Rey con su flota de barcos y se produce una épica batalla, en la que terminan por ser los defensores de la ciudad quienes repudian a los atacantes.

   

   Por otro lado, el joven Theon Greyjoy, que se ha criado con los Stark, regresa al lado de su padre, que se quiere proclamar Rey de las Islas del Hierro. Aquí van a faltar tierras para tantos reyes, ya lo veo venir... de momento, Theon debe ganarse la aprobación de su padre y su hermana, que le consideran un Stark más y no se fían de sus verdaderas capacidades y lealtad a la familia.

   La reacción de Theon es buscar ganarse méritos como sea y para ello se presenta en Invernalia aprovechando la ausencia de Robb, lo que provoca que Brandon tenga que huir de allí.

   

   Y si has ido contando, sabrás que nos falta un aspirante más. Esta es la khaleesi Daenerys Targaryen, que ahora es conocida por ser la Madre de Dragones y que busca hacerse con un ejército para (¡oh, sorpresa!) dirigirse también a conquistar el trono que le pertenece.

   Durante esta temporada la encontramos llegando a la ciudad de Qart esperando encontrar aliados para su causa y lo que recibe es intentos de engañarla y el robo de sus pequeños dragones. Para recuperarlos deberá enfrentarse a la magia oscura.

   

   Por su parte, el joven Jon Nieve que estaba destinado en el Muro forma parte de una expedición por las tierras que quedan al otro lado. Es un lugar hostil donde reinan el frío y la nieve y donde los peligros acechan por todos los costados. Allí cae preso de una salvaje que le lleva hasta su campamento.

   La temporada termina con Sam, el amigo de Jon Nieve, quedándose retrasado de la comitiva que sale en busca de Nieve y topándose con un ejército de los temidos Caminantes Blancos.

   

   Por el momento la serie me sigue atrapando. En algunas partes la acción se ralentiza para que coincidan después determinados hechos del futuro, pero no llega a aburrir. La extensión del argumento a nuevos personajes es necesaria porque las muertes se suceden a una velocidad de vértigo. A este paso aquí no quedará vivo ni el apuntador, jeje.

   Hi, dear hiver.

   The first season finale of Game of Thrones left the intrigue hanging in the air, as it should if you want your fans to stay hooked on your show. You need to know what happens next.

   Spoiler warning

   From here on it's impossible to continue with the reviews without giving away what's happening in the series, so you've been warned. If you're one of those who don't mind knowing the endings, go ahead and welcome. I myself know who ends up occupying the famous iron throne and that does not prevent me from enjoying every minute, but precisely because I respect the tastes of each one I leave it to your wise and timely choice.

   

   After the assassinations the deaths of King Robert Baratheon and Lord Stark we now have Joffrey Baratheon as king and Robb Stark as his greatest enemy who seeks to avenge his father's death. To this end he heads for King's Landing with the Northern troops and leaves his brother Bran to rule Winterfell in his absence.

   

   He is met by Tywin Lannister, the current patriarch of the family. He sends his youngest son, Tyrion, to King's Landing to be Joffrey's Hand in his absence.

   Tyrion's character is fascinating. He represents the wayward member of the family, able to tell them their miseries to their faces and stand up to whoever is needed. Despite being physically the weakest of them all due to his achondroplasia (dwarfism), his spirit of survival leads him to successfully lead his nephew's troops.

   

   Another pretender to the Iron Throne appears on the scene. It is the brother of the late Robert, Stannis Baratheon. He allies himself with a very dark priestess named Melissandre. It is she who convinces him to march to take back the kingdom.

   Stannis plants himself on the walls of King's Landing with his fleet of ships and an epic battle ensues, in which the defenders of the city end up repulsing the attackers.

   

   Meanwhile, young Theon Greyjoy, who has grown up with the Starks, returns to the side of his father, who wants to proclaim himself King of the Iron Islands. There's going to be a shortage of land for so many kings here, I can see it coming... for now, Theon must win the approval of his father and sister, who see him as just another Stark and don't trust his true abilities and loyalty to the family.

   Theon's reaction is to seek to earn his own merits by any means necessary, and to do so he shows up at Winterfell, taking advantage of Robb's absence, which causes Brandon to flee.

   

   And if you've been counting, you'll know that we're missing one more contender. This is the Khaleesi Daenerys Targaryen, who is now known to be the Mother of Dragons and who is looking to gather an army to (oh, surprise!) also set out to conquer the throne that belongs to her.

   During this season we find her arriving in the city of Qart hoping to find allies for her cause and what she receives is attempts to trick her and the theft of her little dragons. To get them back she will have to face dark magic.

   

   Meanwhile, the young Jon Snow, who was stationed at the Wall, is part of an expedition to the lands beyond. It is a hostile place where cold and snow reign and danger lurks on all sides. There he falls prey to a wildling who leads him to her camp.

   The season ends with Jon Snow's friend Sam falling behind the party that sets out in search of Snow and encountering an army of the dreaded White Walkers.

   

   At the moment the series is still gripping me. In some parts the action slows down to coincide with certain events in the future, but it doesn't get boring. The extension of the plot to new characters is necessary because the deaths are happening at breakneck speed. At this rate, not even the prompter will be left alive, hehe.

8. ›“Game of Thrones”, a disappointing end to one of the most incredible television series ever made.@wiseagent611d

   From time to time, the world of television is marked by some projects that are much bigger than everything they originally represent. This is the case with Game of Thrones. A television series created by heavyweight duo David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, but based on books written by George R. R. Martin. In the plot, a network full of conspiracies (filled with a lot of blood and violence) is the center of any and all narratives, which focus on a single common objective: conquer the much-coveted iron throne and become the king (or queen) of the city of Westeros.

   Exuding Norse mythology (with robust hints of other types of world cultures) from all its pores, this is a television series that, without a doubt, can be considered something revolutionary for everything it manages to do throughout its eight seasons. Unfortunately, the narrative quality has declined over the years (oscillating between excellent episodes, average episodes and mediocre episodes amid all its complex construction and extremely dubious creative decisions), but this cannot erase all the brilliance behind this project.

   Particularly speaking, I really didn't like the final episode, and I also didn't like what was done narratively throughout the construction of the eighth season (which, incidentally, was a problem that had already been happening in season seven). I can't comment (in detail) on what I wanted the true ending of this television series to be like, but I can say that I would definitely change the fate of Westeros by choosing another name to lead their monarchy. Although the ending makes sense according to the chronology presented, the result of this choice is somewhat disappointing.

   

   Rolling Stone Brasil

   The final fate of the characters Daenerys Targaryen and Jon Snow would also be something I would radically change. In particular, what happens to the iconic representative of the Targaryen clan, because what they did to this character is something inconceivable (especially given all the weight she has within the story as a whole). To this day I prefer not to believe what I watched, and pretend that there is an alternative ending hidden somewhere where her and Snow's fate was something totally different than the official ending that was presented. Nothing about that ending made complete sense.

   I would change a few other aspects, but that would require greater details that I prefer to avoid so as not to spoil the surprise for those who haven't watched this television series yet. However, I can say that all these aspects mentioned in the previous paragraphs are enough to cause a genuine feeling of frustration in any viewer who along the way expected to watch an incredible final episode. This is the “bitter”(trust me… it hurts) legacy of Game of Thrones: being one of the best TV projects ever produced by HBO, but having a depressing conclusion.

   De vez en cuando, el mundo de la televisión se ve marcado por algunos proyectos que son mucho más grandes que todo lo que representan originalmente. Este es el caso de Juego de Tronos. Una serie de televisión creada por el dúo de peso pesado David Benioff y D.B. Weiss, pero basado en libros escritos por George R. R. Martin. En la trama, una red llena de conspiraciones (llenas de mucha sangre y violencia) es el centro de todas y cada una de las narrativas, que se centran en un único objetivo común: conquistar el tan codiciado trono de Hierro y convertirse en rey (o reina) de Westeros.

   Exudando mitología nórdica (con fuertes toques de otro tipo de culturas del mundo) por todos sus poros, estamos ante una serie de televisión que, sin duda, puede considerarse algo revolucionario por todo lo que logra hacer a lo largo de sus ocho temporadas. Desgraciadamente, la calidad narrativa ha ido decayendo a lo largo de los años (oscilando entre episodios excelentes, episodios mediocres y episodios mediocres en medio de toda su compleja construcción y decisiones creativas extremadamente dudosas), pero esto no puede borrar toda la brillantez detrás de este proyecto.

   Particularmente, no me gustó mucho el episodio final, y tampoco me gustó lo que se hizo narrativamente a lo largo de la construcción de la octava temporada (lo cual, dicho sea de paso, era un problema que ya venía sucediendo en la séptima temporada). No puedo comentar (en detalle) cómo quería que fuera el verdadero final de esta serie de televisión, pero puedo decir que definitivamente cambiaría el destino de Westeros eligiendo otro nombre para liderar su monarquía. Aunque el final tiene sentido según la cronología presentada, el resultado de esta elección es un tanto decepcionante.

   El destino final de los personajes Daenerys Targaryen y Jon Snow también sería algo que cambiaría radicalmente. En particular, qué pasa con la icónica representante del clan Targaryen, pues lo que le hicieron a este personaje es algo inconcebible (sobre todo teniendo en cuenta todo el peso que tiene dentro de la historia en su conjunto). Hasta el día de hoy prefiero no creer lo que vi y pretender que hay un final alternativo escondido en algún lugar donde el destino de ella y de Snow fue algo totalmente diferente al final oficial que se presentó. Nada de ese final tenía mucho sentido.

   Cambiaría algunos aspectos más, pero eso requeriría mayores detalles que prefiero evitar para no estropear la sorpresa a quienes aún no han visto esta serie de televisión. Sin embargo, puedo decir que todos estos aspectos mencionados en los párrafos anteriores son suficientes para causar un genuino sentimiento de frustración en cualquier espectador que en el camino esperaba ver un increíble episodio final. Este es el “amargo” legado de Juego de Tronos: ser uno de los mejores proyectos televisivos jamás producidos por HBO, pero tener una conclusión deprimente.

   De tempos em tempos, o mundo da televisão é marcado por alguns projetos que são muito maiores do que tudo aquilo o que eles originalmente representam. Este é o caso de Game of Thrones. Uma série de televisão criada pela dupla de peso David Benioff e D.B. Weiss, mas com base nos livros escritos por George R. R. Martin. Na trama, uma rede repleta de conspirações (regada à muito sangue e violência) é o centro de todas e quaisquer as narrativas, que focam em um único objetivo em comum: conquistar o tão cobiçado trono de ferro e se torna o rei (ou rainha) da cidade de Westeros.

   Exalando mitologia nórdica (com pitadas robustas de outros tipos de culturas mundiais) por todos os seus poros, essa é uma série de televisão que, sem dúvidas, pode ser considerada como algo revolucionário por tudo o que ela consegue fazer ao longo de suas oito temporadas. Infelizmente, a qualidade narrativa vai decaindo ao longo dos anos (oscilando entre episódios excelentes, episódios medianos e episódios medíocres em meio de toda à sua complexa construção e decisões criativas extremamente duvidosas), mas isso não consegue apagar todo o brilhantismo por traz desse projeto.

   Particularmente falando, eu realmente não gostei do episódio final, e também não gostei do que feito narrativamente em toda à construção da oitava temporada (que aliás, era um problema que já vinha acontecendo na temporada sete). Eu não posso comentar (em detalhes) como eu queria que fosse o final verdadeiro dessa série de televisão, mas posso dizer que eu, com certeza, mudaria o destino de Westeros ao escolher um outro nome para liderar a monarquia deles. Apesar do final fazer sentido de acordo com a cronologia apresentada, o resultado dessa escolha é algo decepcionante.

   O destino final dos personagens Daenerys Targaryen e Jon Snow também seria algo que eu mudaria radicalmente. Em especial, o que acontece com a representante icônica do clã Targaryen, porque o que fizeram com essa personagem é algo inconcebível (principalmente por todo o peso que ela tem dentro da estória como um todo). Até hoje eu prefiro não acreditar no que eu assisti, e fingir que existe um final alternativo escondido em algum lugar onde o destino dela e do Snow foi algo totalmente diferente do que o final oficial que foi apresentado. Nada naquele final fez total sentido.

   Eu mudaria alguns outros tantos aspectos, mas isso exigiria maiores detalhes que eu prefiro evitar para não estregar a surpresa de quem ainda não assistiu a esta série de televisão. No entanto, posso dizer que todos esses aspectos mencionados nos parágrafos anteriores já são suficientes para causar um sentimento genuíno de frustração em qualquer telespectador que ao longo da jornada esperava assistir a um episódio final incrível. Esse é o “amargo” legado de Game of Thrones: ser um dos melhores projetos de TV já produzidos pela HBO, mas ter uma conclusão deprimente.

9. ›Juego de Tronos T.1: Ganas o mueres // Game of Thrones S.1: You win or you die@palomap3611d

   

   

   Hola, querido hiver.

   Por extraño que te pueda parecer todavía quedamos personas en el mundo que no hemos visto la serie Juego de Tronos, basada en los libros de la saga Canción de Hielo y Fuego del escritor George R. R. Martin. No suelo seguir las modas. Es más, si puedo las rehuyo. Pero casos como este hacen que me arrepienta de ser así porque me ha atrapado desde el final del primer capítulo y ahora no podré parar hasta que la termine.

   Juego de Tronos es una serie de fantasía medieval en la que se suceden aventuras una tras otra, donde nada es lo que parece al principio y los personajes tienen profundos motivos para hacer cada uno de sus movimientos. En cada capítulo pasa de todo, no puedes dejar de mirarla porque te puedes perder detalles importantes y además, qué demonios, cada segundo es de disfrute aunque estés con el corazón encogido por lo que sucede.

   

   La acción transcurre en los Siete Reinos, un mundo de estilo medieval que es gobernado desde el Trono de Hierro forjado con las espadas de los enemigos vencidos por Aegon, rey de la Dinastía Targaryen.

   Las primeras escenas nos sitúan en el momento en que el actual rey, Robert Baratheon (Mark Addy), otorga a su amigo Lord Eddard «Ned» Stark (Sean Bean) el cargo de mano del rey tras el asesinato de la anterior mano. Debe abandonar sus dominios en Invernalia e instalarse en la corte que se encuentra al sur, en Desembarco del Rey. Se lleva a con él a sus dos hijas, dejando a los hijos varones y a su mujer en Invernalia.

   Pronto afloran intrigas palaciegas e intentos de traición. Lord Stark tendrá que debatirse entre defender el honor de su familia, ser leal al rey o sucumbir al poder e intentar apoderarse del trono.

   

   Frente a los Stark encontramos a los Lannister, encabezados por Cersei (Lena Headey) que es la actual reina. Su objetivo es que el heredero al trono, su hijo Joffrey Baratheon (Jack Gleeson) lo ocupe cuanto antes y elimine cualquier posibilidad de que otros herederos más legítimos que él lo consigan.

   Cersei es tan bella como cruel e insensible. No duda en arrebatar la vida de quien se interponga entre ella y sus deseos. Tiene una relación de incesto con su hermano Jamie (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau), y al ser descubiertos por uno de los hijos menores de Lord Stark le intentan asesinar y se aceleran los acontecimientos. El niño, Bran Stark (Isaac Hempstead-Wright), sobrevive pero pierde la movilidad en las piernas.

   

   Mientras ocurre todo lo anterior, Jon Nieve (Kit Harington), hijo bastardo de Lord Stark, es enviado al Muro. Este es el límite más al norte de los Siete Reinos. Allí entra como uno de los Guardias de la Noche, encargados de proteger esa frontera con las tierras más allá del Muro. En ellas hay unos seres monstruosos, los Caminantes Blancos, que avanzan hacia el sur eliminando a los humanos.

   Llegan las primeras señales de que algo se mueve tras el Muro. Se acerca el invierno, largo y lleno de oscuridad. Jon Nieve desea ayudar a su familia pero sabe que su deber es permanecer con sus compañeros y proteger al reino.

   

   En el este y al otro lado del mar los hijos del anterior rey planean regresar a tomar posesión del trono. Reciben la ayuda de Drogo (Jason Momoa), Khal de los Dothraki, un pueblo guerrero y nómada. Aunque no es gratis, Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) se entrega en matrimonio con el Khal a cambio.

   La pareja se enamora rápidamente y ella se queda embarazada. Desde ese momento emprenden el camino hacia Poniente para que el hijo de ambos sea el futuro ocupante del Trono de Hierro.

   

   En esta primera reseña de la serie me puedo permitir dejarte con la intriga y evitar los spoiler, pero me temo que para las siguientes entregas no me quedará más remedio que avanzar en la historia.

   La ambientación del mundo de Juego de Tronos está muy lograda. Se nota que el autor de los libros originales George R. R. Martin formó parte activa de la producción. Los paisajes son preciosos, el vestuario y decorados están cuidados al detalle, así como la caracterización de los personajes. La banda sonora y los efectos de sonido redondean la experiencia de ver lo que ocurre en este universo paralelo.

   

   Aunque no todo son alabanzas por mi parte. Algunos aspectos me incomodan hasta el punto de tener que apartar la vista de la pantalla en determinados momentos: el elevado realismo con la sangre, en especial en las escenas de lucha (no me aporta nada ver borbotones saliendo de bocas o salpicaduras de los degollamientos); el exceso de escenas de sexo y desnudos que en muchas ocasiones no vienen a cuento; el lenguaje soez y vulgar fuera de contexto, que no es propio de los caballeros y damas que lo profieren.

   Sin embargo, lo anterior no consigue eclipsar la maravilla de producción que me parece esta serie. Esta primera temporada me ha hecho disfrutar de principio a fin. Solo el primer par de episodios fueron algo tediosos porque, como es normal, había que presentar los personajes y tramas principales. Algo nada fácil, con tanta dinastía o casa y sus complejas relaciones. Hasta para escribir esta sencilla reseña he necesitado consultar una wiki para no meter la pata.

   Ya estoy sumergida de lleno en la segunda temporada. Cada capítulo te deja con la necesidad de seguir un poco más y el final de la temporada 1 estuvo a la altura. Nos acercamos al invierno y te contaré lo que me encuentre en él.

   Hi, dear hiver.

   Strange as it may seem to you, there are still people in the world who haven't seen the series Game of Thrones, based on the books of the saga A Song of Ice and Fire by the writer George R. R. Martin. I don't usually follow fads. In fact, I avoid them if I can. But cases like this one make me regret being like that because it has caught me from the end of the first chapter and now I won't be able to stop until I finish it.

   Game of Thrones is a medieval fantasy series where adventures follow one after another, where nothing is what it seems at first and the characters have deep motives for their every move. Everything happens in every episode, you can't stop watching it because you might miss important details and also, what the hell, every second is enjoyable even if you're heartbroken by what's going on.

   

   The action takes place in the Seven Kingdoms, a medieval-style world that is ruled from the Iron Throne forged from the swords of enemies vanquished by Aegon, king of the Targaryen Dynasty.

   The opening scenes take us to the moment when the current king, Robert Baratheon (Mark Addy), gives his friend Lord Eddard ‘Ned’ Stark (Sean Bean) the position of King's Hand after the murder of the previous Hand. He must leave his domain in Winterfell and take up residence in the southern court at King's Landing. He takes his two daughters with him, leaving his sons and wife at Winterfell.

   Soon palace intrigues and treasonous attempts are afoot. Lord Stark will be torn between defending his family's honour, being loyal to the king, or succumbing to power and attempting to seize the throne.

   

   Opposing the Starks are the Lannisters, led by Cersei (Lena Headey) who is the current queen. Her aim is to ensure that the heir to the throne, her son Joffrey Baratheon (Jack Gleeson), takes the throne as soon as possible, and to eliminate any chance of other heirs more legitimate than himself.

   Cersei is as beautiful as she is cruel and callous. She does not hesitate to take the life of anyone who stands between her and her desires. She has an incestuous relationship with her brother Jamie (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau), and when they are discovered by one of Lord Stark's youngest sons they attempt to assassinate him and events accelerate. The boy, Bran Stark (Isaac Hempstead-Wright), survives but loses the use of his legs.

   

   While all this is going on, Jon Snow (Kit Harington), Lord Stark's bastard son, is sent to the Wall. This is the northernmost boundary of the Seven Kingdoms. There he enters as one of the Night's Watch, charged with protecting that border with the lands beyond the Wall. There, monstrous beings, the White Walkers, are advancing southwards, wiping out the humans.

   The first signs come that something is moving behind the Wall. Winter is coming, long and dark. Jon Snow wants to help his family but knows his duty is to stand with his companions and protect the realm.

   

   In the east and across the sea the sons of the former king plan to return to take the throne. They are aided by Drogo (Jason Momoa), Khal of the Dothraki, a warrior and nomadic people. Although it is not for free, Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) gives herself in marriage to the Khal in return.

   The couple quickly fall in love and she becomes pregnant. From that moment they set out for Westeros so that their child may be the future occupant of the Iron Throne.

   

   In this first review of the series I can allow myself to leave you intrigued and avoid spoilers, but I'm afraid that for the following instalments I'll have no choice but to move the story forward.

   The setting of the world of Game of Thrones is very well done. You can tell that the author of the original books, George R. R. Martin, was an active part of the production. The scenery is beautiful, the costumes and sets are beautifully crafted, as is the characterisation of the characters. The soundtrack and sound effects round off the experience of seeing what happens in this parallel universe.

   

   It's not all praise from my side, though. Some aspects make me uncomfortable to the point of having to look away from the screen at certain moments: the high realism with the blood, especially in the fight scenes (I don't like to see gushes coming out of mouths or splashes from the throat slitting); the excess of sex scenes and nudity that in many occasions don't make sense; the foul and vulgar language out of context, which is not appropriate for the knights and ladies who utter it.

   However, the above does not manage to overshadow the marvel of production that I find this series. I enjoyed this first season from start to finish. Only the first couple of episodes were a bit tedious because, as usual, the main characters and plots had to be introduced. Not an easy task, with so many dynasties or houses and their complex relationships. Even to write this simple review I had to consult a wiki to avoid putting my foot in my mouth.

   I'm already fully immersed in the second season. Each episode leaves you wanting more and the season 1 finale lived up to the hype. We're approaching winter and I'll let you know what I find in it.

    Favorite Movie

    I barely have Favorite Movie but if I can name a TV show that will be Game of Thrones. I have watched that series more than a hundred times. I think that is one of the greatest show other than LOTR series. Why is it my favorite series? because each time I am watching, I am learning something new. My favorite character from that story is Tywin Lannister and Little Finger. Both overcome their shortcomings by outsmarting everyone around them. Though little finger died in the end, he managed to get it far and ahead of everyone though he was not born from a good house. Even Tyrion managed to stay until the war end and becomes the hand of the king once again.

    I don't really watch movie a lot compared to most people. I normally only watch some real good ones that's recommended by friends. I generally also like to know what to expect, so yeah I normally check all the plot and spoiling myself. I am more interested in exploring the why and the characterization of the story.
