Any Vikings tv-series fan here? So started this one by seeking a Vikings fan. Because I am one of those and gonna write about my recent watch of Vikings: Valhalla season-01, this one is a sequel of the previous Vikings (2013-2020) tv-series. After watching Game Of Thrones, many people search for a similar one, a similar taste. So when I first watched Vikings I felt something like a similar taste. Cravings for the territory, betrayals, wars, mastermind strategic plans, and many more to offer someone who just sat to watch Vikings.
Recently Netflix released the sequel of Vikings as Vikings: Valhalla which covers the incidents after the end of Vikings events. So none of the characters from the Vikings would be seen, just one. Hehehe that's the seer from Vikings, we get that character just for a scene. Before watching, I was thinking about how this one would go without the previous character. Whenever we see a series or something like that, we mostly get attached to the characters along with the storyline.
When I was watching the previous one, after four seasons a lead character dies, I lost interest and stopped watching that series out of negligence. Trust me, when I started again I was still drowning with the series just like before even without the main character I admired the most. The legacy of the sons of Ragnar Lothbroke kept us hooked till the last without any crack.
The same happened here, I wasn't really sure how I would be going to react after watching the first season of Valhalla. Will it be trash or win over my expectations? Well, even before watching the trailer I thought I would see the past characters as they say they would go to Valhalla after their death. Okay, then found out the new characters with some links to the past ones but when I started I was drowning into the new stories fast-forwarded to a hundred years. New characters, new incidents, and the old attractions towards the Viking's strategies and wars.
It starts with the breaking of a settlement treaty among the Vikings and England kings; they performed a massacre that killed every Viking living in England. One of the lead characters Harald Sigurdsson wasn't there but his brother died. King Canute, the ruler of Denmark, calls all the Viking clans to gather at Kattegat so that they can take revenge. Kattegat was the heart of the previous Vikings series and so it's now, many key events are performed here. There are also two key characters Leif Erikson and Freydis who traveled from Greenland, they were on a mission to take revenge and ended up at Kattegat and got to know about the massacre and preparation of that other revenge. In the first one, we have seen many Vikings getting converted into Christianism leaving behind their own gods, and in this one there are a huge number of such Vikings, and somehow the ending depends a lot on this conflict.
Gradually, we would see common characters leading to the main roles just like the previous Ragnar getting up from the root to the top. With every episode, the story gets more intense to stick with. Am not diving deep into the storyline as it may spoil the fun of watching. But trust me, everyone who has watched Vikings and enjoyed it should start watching Vikings: Valhalla too, yeah it would be hard to accept the waiting for the next season after this one but you won't mind with the full stop in this one, it's worth watching. Make your time and start watching just eight episodes for the first season. Happy Watching!
