Carrie (2026) Review

Review by @mmam 🏆#120 🔥1 🎵62 🎬47 📺14 · 4h · of Carrie

I finished watching Carrie, and one thing that I enjoyed about it was how much the girl had to deal with at such a young age. Losing her father was already a painful experience, but growing up with a mother who controlled almost everything she did made her situation even worse. School, which should have been a place where she could make friends and enjoy her teenage years, became another source of misery.

Carrie White (Summer H. Howell) was a quiet teenager raised by her deeply religious mother, Margaret White (Samantha Sloyan). Margaret's strict beliefs affected almost every part of Carrie's life, leaving her with little freedom to understand herself or the world around her. While other teenagers were exploring friendships and relationships, Carrie struggled with things that many people her age could hardly imagine.

Things became more difficult when she faced bullying at school. Being different was enough to make her a target, and the cruelty she experienced only added to the pain she was already carrying. Instead of receiving the kindness and understanding she needed, she found herself surrounded by people who made her feel even more isolated.

What made the story more interesting was the way Carrie's life gradually took a darker turn as she discovered her supernatural abilities. Her powers added another layer to her struggles, especially as she tried to understand what was happening to her. The more her emotions intensified, the more frightening the situation became.

Margaret's relationship with Carrie was also one of the most disturbing parts of the story. Although she believed she was doing what was right, her controlling behaviour and extreme religious views made life difficult for her daughter. Their relationship showed how a parent could have a deep influence on a child's emotional development, even when that influence came from fear rather than understanding.

I also found the bullying aspect important because it showed how easily people could dismiss another person's feelings. Sometimes, what one person considered a joke could become a painful experience for someone else. Carrie's story made those moments particularly uncomfortable because it was clear that she was already struggling before things became worse.

What I loved about the story was that Carrie wasn't presented simply as a frightening character. Beneath the horror was a lonely teenager who wanted to experience life, make connections, and feel accepted. Her circumstances made her story heartbreaking, even as the supernatural elements made it increasingly terrifying.

Overall, Carrie combined teenage drama, psychological tension, and supernatural horror in a way that explored the consequences of cruelty and isolation. It was a disturbing story about a girl whose life was shaped by the people who should have treated her with more care.
