What happens when the rain you once welcomed becomes the thing you fear most? The Rain is a gripping Danish post-apocalyptic series that follows siblings Simone Andersen (Alba August) and Rasmus Andersen (Lucas Lynggaard Tønnesen) after a deadly virus wipes out much of the population. Their father, Frederik Andersen (Lars Simonsen), hid them in an underground bunker, warning them never to come outside.
Years later, Simone and Rasmus were forced to leave their shelter and face the ruined world for themselves. They soon met a group of survivors, including Martin (Mikkel Boe Følsgaard), Beatrice (Angela Bundalovic), Patrick (Lukas Løkken) and Lea (Jessica Dinnage). Together, they travel through a dangerous landscape while searching for answers about the virus and trying to find Simone and Rasmus' father.
What made the series fascinating is that survival isn't just about avoiding the rain. The survivors have to deal with hunger, fear, betrayal and the difficult choices that come with living in a world where the old rules no longer exist.
Simone remained determined to protect her brother, but Rasmus gradually became more complicated as they discover the truth about the virus. Their relationship was tested repeatedly, making their journey much more than a simple fight for survival.
The dark atmosphere also worked incredibly well. Abandoned buildings, empty streets and threatening skies made almost every scene feel uneasy. Even when the characters weren't being chased, there's always the feeling that danger could be just around the corner or falling from the sky.
At its heart, The Rain isn't only about a deadly virus. It explores trust, family, sacrifice and the lengths people can go to when survival becomes their only priority.
There were moments when the pacing slowed down, and some character decisions could be frustrating, but the mystery and emotional tension kept the story engaging.
Overall, The Rain delivered an intriguing combination of post-apocalyptic drama, science fiction, mystery and survival thriller. Its greatest strength is the simple but terrifying idea that something as ordinary as rain can become your greatest enemy.
