Prisoners of the Ghostland es una película Western horror dirigida por Soin Sono y protagonizada por Nicolas Cage. Fue estrenada en 2021 en el Sundance Film Festival.

Contexto
Al inicio un trio de chicas escapa en la oscuridad de la noche de una mansión antigua. Inconsciente recuerda cosas de su pasado y el atraco que salió mal, parece que él conoció a Bernice de pequeña, su madre murió con en ese mismo robo, por la policía, luego de eso el gobernador la adopto para su harem de nietas.
Fuera de Ghostland un grupo de presos los atacan, Hero pierde su brazo, alli piensa en el origen del lugar, que fue debido a un choque, entre un autobús con presos y un camión de residuos nucleares. Al dio siguiente Bernice despierta pero Hero no, y el traje pide su reconocimiento de voz, ella reúne toda su fuerza para hablar y lo logra. Sin embargo Hero sigue sin despertar.
El Gobernador esta en su mansión disfrutando de sus riquezas con unas chicas, cuando su otra nieta, Susie, se coloca histérica por la falta de su hermana, él la humilla hasta que aparecen sus hombres con la culpable del escape de Bernice. Manda a Yasujiro, su samurái mas leal, a ejecutarla, este no duda. Opinión y Análisis
No se como describir la película, mas bien tuve muchos problemas al realizar el contexto por lo mismo, creo que la palabra mas sencilla seria extraña o rara. Su historia es común pero la ejecución, el estilo y las actuaciones no lo son, personalmente no me gusto, tuve muchos problemas con ella y hasta me dormí varias veces viéndola.
El filme presenta una fusión entre el Western, el periodo Edo japonés, un post apocalíptico, la época pre moderna y moderna, algo que podría ser interesante, y al inicio me llamo la atención. Sin embargo, no se siente una realidad orgánica, sino un collage, sin estructura, de todo lo anterior, tal vez algo salido de un sueño donde nada tiene sentido. Algunos personajes parecen ser villanos de Los Power Rangers, por alguna razón. Creo que toda esta locura audio visual tendría lógica en otro medio pero en este no lo pudieron hacer funcionar, al menos para mi.
La película no solo es bizarra en su estilo sino también en su historia, muchas cosas no tiene sentido, ni explicación y tampoco quieres saberlo, porque son cosas salidas de la nada, solo terminas con cara de "¿que?" y sigues adelante. Las actuaciones son malas, parecen fingidas, exageradas y fuera de si. Por un momento pensé que era una mala adaptación de un manga de comedia bizarra, y eso le daría algo de lógica a todo, pero no fue así.
Se que ella debe detener algún tipo de subtrama y simbolismo. Sin embargo, es tan extravagante que realmente no me da interés y mucho menos ganas de ponerme a analizar a detalle cada escena para encontrarlo.
En lo personal no la recomiendo, a menos que te gusten este tipo de historias sin sentido, vas a perder el tiempo totalmente, creo que pudieron hacer un mejor trabajo jugando con lo que tenían pero tomaron las peores sediciones, sinceramente hay ideas que quedan mejor en el papel y esta película es una de ellas.

Opinion and Analysis
I don't know how to describe the film, rather I had a lot of trouble to make the context for the same, I think the simplest word would be strange or weird. Its story is common but the execution, style and performances are not, personally I did not like it, I had many problems with it and I even fell asleep several times watching it.
The film presents a fusion between Western, Japanese Edo period, a post apocalyptic, pre modern and modern era, something that could be interesting, and at the beginning it caught my attention. However, it doesn't feel like an organic reality, but a collage, without structure, of all of the above, perhaps something out of a dream where nothing makes sense. Some characters seem to be Power Rangers villains, for some reason. I think all this audio visual madness would make sense in another medium but in this one they couldn't make it work, at least for me.
The movie is not only bizarre in its style but also in its story, many things don't make sense, no explanation and you don't want to know it either, because they are things out of nowhere, you just end up with a "what?" face and move on. The performances are bad, they seem fake, exaggerated and out of it. For a moment I thought it was a bad adaptation of a bizarre comedy manga, and that would lend some logic to it all, but it wasn't.
I know she has to stop some sort of subplot and symbolism. However, it's so outlandish that it doesn't really give me interest, let alone the desire to go into detail analyzing every scene to find it.
Personally I don't recommend it, unless you like this kind of nonsense stories, you will totally waste your time, I think they could have done a better job playing with what they had but they took the worst seditions, honestly there are ideas that look better on paper and this movie is one of them.
