Scream 5 película estrenada a principios del 2022, es la quinta entrega de la saga Scream y la primera en no ser dirigida por el difunto Wes Craven, sino por Matt Bettinelli-Olpin y Tyler Gillett. Aunque fue anunciada como un relanzamiento de la saga, es secuela de Scream 4.
Contexto
25 años después de la primera tragedia a manos de Ghostface. Tara Carpenter, una chica sola en su casa, habla con su amiga Amber por mensaje, cuando recibe una llamada de un numero desconocido, ella sigue el juego del sujeto hasta que las cosas se colocan sombrías, pero el tipo no esta listo para terminar la llamada y revela que la persona que pensaba que era Amber por mensaje realmente era el y si no acepta sus términos, herirá a su amiga. Tara con la necesidad de salvar a Amber, accede a jugar una trivia de "Stab", una franquicia de películas Slasher basada en los asesinatos del pueblo, por desgracia ella falla la prueba y es atacada por el enmascarado Ghostface.
En otra ciudad tenemos a Sam, que recibe la llamada del ataque se su hermana, la cual sobrevivió y esta mal herida en el hospital, a pesar del distanciamiento que ambas tenían no duda en regresar al pueblo para apoyarla, junto con su novio. También se nos presenta a los amigos de Tara, adolescentes normales, quienes hablan del ataque y comentan sus similitudes con las películas de terror noventero.
Sam al llegar al hospital y hablar con su hermana se siente mas relajada, su madre no puede regresar del viaje de negocios que tiene, así que Sam se hace cargo de la situación y decide quedarse en el lugar hasta que su hermana mejore. Este estrés parece afectar a la protagonista porque comienza a tener visiones con el asesino de la primera masacre, en ese momento es atacada por Ghostface pero logra escapar y pedir ayuda en el hospital. Para cuando el oficial aparece, el asesino ya no esta. Al mismo tiempo los amigos de Tara, están en un bar cuando un acosador los intimida, no dudan en actuar en contra, lo que los lleva a ser echados de bar, el acosador al irse es atacado en un callejón por Ghostface, esto eleva las sospechas y preocupa las autoridades, quienes comienzan pensar que el asesino esta entre ellos.
La protagonista decide ser sincera con su hermana y habla sobre la verdadera razón de la separación de su padres, resulta que ella misma es hija de Billy Loomis, el asesino que inicio todo, también es por eso que dejo la ciudad y se alejo del resto de la familia. Este hecho causa enojo en Tara, que pide a Sam que la deje. Tara en el hospital comienza a sentir que algo no esta bien, así que escapa en una silla de ruedas y acata por error al novio de su hermana, pero no hay tiempo para disculpas cuando el verdadero asesino aparece, ya ganando el asalto, Ghostface llama a Sam para ponerla a elegir entre la vida de su novio o su hermana, esto le da tiempo suficiente a ella y al ex Sheriff para llegar y rescatarlos . Uno de los hermanos Meeks es atacado cuando busca a su novia enojada, no pasa mucho cuando la hermana de este también es herida pero Sam la rescata. Ahora solo quedan Amber, Sam, su novio y Liv (la novia del hermano Meeks) en la sala y todos se culpan, hasta que Amber mata a Liv frente a todos revelándose como la asesina.
Gale y Sidney llegan al lugar para descubrir que se trata de la casa de Stu Macher, el segundo asesino de la primera matanza, alli encuentran a una Amber que finge estar herida, aunque estas no le creen si logra herir a Gale, por otro lado Sam considera esconderse en el sótano con su novio pero comienza a dudar así que sale en busca de su hermana, encuentra a Tara amordazada en el cuarto de Amber. Sidney recibe una llamada de Ghostface que quiere burlarse de ella, cuelga y por error dispara al novio de Sam, Richie, en eso Amber aparece y caen al primer piso. Sam al escuchar a Sidney va en su ayuda y parece que le ganaron, cuando Richie se revela como el segundo asesino al apuñalar a Sam.
Todo este tiempo Richie y Amber habían planeado todo con el fin de crear la perfecta secuela de Stab, una que rememore lo mejor de la primera pero con aires actuales, una obra maestra para los fans, querían a Sam por su conexión con Loomis y así usarla como chivo expiatorio. Ellos pierden el control de la situación cuando no encuentran Tara, esto permite que Sam se enfrente a Richie, mientras Gale y Sidney se encargan de Amber, procede la lucha y aunque al inicio todo esta en su contra, los buenos ganan y matan a los asesinos. Al final de la película vemos que ambos hermanos Meeks sobrevivieron y son atendidos por los paramédicos, Sam agradece su ayuda a Sidney y Gale, luego se va con su hermana, ahora esta en paz por haber enfrentado sus miedos y el pasado.
Opinión y Análisis
Le pregunto a mi hermana: ¿quieres ver una película? y ella me responde: Claro, algo de terror. Y así terminamos viendo esta. Si soy honesta, no tenias expectativas al verla pero me sorprendido, pase un buen rato disfrutando de la película, no se si fue por la película o el ambiente que se puede crear al rededor de ella. No soy exactamente una fan de la franquicia pero le tengo mis respetos, ya que Scream fue una de las primeras, películas de terror, que vi de pequeña, porque no involucraba espíritus o demonios que podían aterrorizarme a media noche, así que para mi era fácil de digerir, podía verla sin miedo en pocas palabras. Sin embargo, no cambia lo decepcionante que pueden llegar a ser las secuelas, de un clásico de cualquier genero, por ejemplo la nueva trilogía de Star Wars, así que estaba preparada para el desastre. Este no fue el caso, siento que hicieron buenas cosas en la película, tal vez no todos los ven así y hay que analizarlo poco para apreciarlo, aunque en general es bueno.
Para mi Scream siempre se distinguió, de las otras películas Slasher, porque parodia a su genero sin caer en la comedia directa, retrata los clichés a propósito y sus personajes parecen estar consientes de ser parte de una película de terror y a la vez no, es como si lo sospecharan sin confirmar, y en este caso pasa lo mismo, pero a esto le sumamos los trópicos actuales que usa el cine para revitalizar sus viejas franquicias. Scream mismo es una vieja franquicia ¿así que porque no hacerlo? pensaron seguramente, la verdad fue astuto de su parte.
Receta: Recicla la trama de la primera entrega (casi en su mayoría), trae personajes icónicos y queridos por el fandom (usando a los actores originales), los nuevos personajes deben tener alguna conexión con el pasado de la saga, además deben saber de esta y por ultimo mete nostalgia hasta el final, listo tienes tu formula. Y ellos la aplicaron y pensaran: esto enoja ¿no? Pues a mi no, porque es Scream quien lo hace, desde el inicio tomo el genero Slasher y lo auto referencio, esta vez no solo lo hizo con los Slasher sino con las secuelas, reboots y reinicios de las franquicias. Todo esta hecho con esa intención de burlarse de la formula al mismo tiempo que la usa, es malvadamente brillante o para mi lo es.
Nota: Capaz esto no es así y solo estoy sobre analizando, para justificar que me divertí viendo la película. En fin, la recomiendo y si puedan verla con amigos o con gente al rededor mejor, como todo Slasher siempre es divertido tratar de descubrir al culpable y ver quien no sobrevive al final.

Opinion and Analysis
I ask my sister: do you want to watch a movie? and she replies: sure, something horror. And so we ended up watching this one. If I'm honest, I had no expectations when watching it but I was surprised, I had a good time enjoying the movie, I don't know if it was because of the movie or the atmosphere that can be created around it. I'm not exactly a fan of the franchise but I have my respects for it, as Scream was one of the first, horror movies, I saw as a kid, because it didn't involve spirits or demons that could terrify me in the middle of the night, so for me it was easy to digest, I could watch it without fear in a nutshell. However, it doesn't change how disappointing sequels can be, of a classic of any genre, for example the new Star Wars trilogy, so I was prepared for disaster. This was not the case, I feel they did good things in the movie, maybe not everyone sees them that way and you have to analyze it little to appreciate it, although overall it is good.
For me Scream always stood out from other Slasher movies, because it parodies its genre without falling into direct comedy, it portrays clichés on purpose and its characters seem to be aware of being part of a horror movie and at the same time not, it is as if they suspect it without confirming it, and in this case the same thing happens, but we add to this the current tropes that the cinema uses to revitalize its old franchises. Scream itself is an old franchise, so why not do it? they surely thought, the truth was astute on their part.
