Voyagers conocido en Latinoamérica como Instintos Ocultos, es una película de ciencia ficción, drama y suspenso, escrita y dirigida por Neil Burger. Protagonizada por Tye Sheridan, Lily-Rose Depp, Fionn Whitehead, Colin Farell y Chanté Adams. Se entreno el 9 de abril de 2021, siendo un fracaso en taquilla, al no superar su presupuesto de 29 millones de dólares.
En 2069 el planeta esta acabado, la falta de recursos y el calentamiento son problemas insostenibles, por lo cual, los científicos trazan la misión de terraformar un planeta lejano, para ello manda a 30 jóvenes astronautas en un viaje de 86 años, de esa manera sus nietos colonizaran objetivo. Todo va bien en la nave hasta que las emociones mas primitivas del humano toman el control.
Contexto
Después de que la situación con el planeta se vuelva insostenible, se organiza una misión para terraformar el espacio, el viaje es sin regreso y toma aproximadamente 86 años, por lo cual, será la tercera generación de astronautas los que colonicen el planeta. Los científicos para asegurar el éxito de la misión y ayudar a la primera generación a sobrellevar las condiciones de vuelo, deciden crear por Fecundación in Vitro y aislar desde su nacimiento a los primeros 30 participantes.
Los niños crecen con normalidad en el centro de investigación, mientras se regula su contacto y se les educa con el mejor conocimiento de mundo. Richard uno de los científicos encargados de la misión, decide viajar con los chicos por su apego a ellos y para servir de guía a los jóvenes, en su primera parte de la misión. Para cumplir el tiempo de vuelo, ellos son enviados al espacio cuando son preadolescentes, además el plan es que la próxima Fecundación sea cuando cumplan 24 años, al igual que la de sus hijos, de esta manera ahorrar recursos limitados.
Pasan 10 años y todo funciona correctamente, ahora son jóvenes adultos, se encargan de la nave como es debido y tiene su propio sistema de vida, aunque son carentes de emoción o apego, Richard los guía y en caso de tener algún problema este les asiste con orientación a cada uno. Un día Christopher descubre que hay un componente restringido en su alimentación, al indagar mas junto con su amigo, Zac, revela que el liquido azul que toman es una sustancia química que limita sus emociones, su deseo sexual y la respuesta al placer, para que sean mas dóciles y manejables. Al saber eso, ambos deciden no tomarlo, para poder sentir lo que se les a negado.
Ellos le comentan su descubrimiento a otro par de conocidos, estos le preguntan cual es la diferencia entre las sensaciones, ellos lo describen como electricidad mientras juegan con cables y se dan toques eléctricos, luego son reprendidos por desperdiciar energía por otra compañera, poco apreciada. Christopher va a ver a Richard, descontento por la existencia de un compartimiento oculto, quiere respuestas pero Richard se niega, expresando que debe ser algo para la tercena generación, es decir que no es necesario que ellos lo sepan.
Richard conflictuado decide hablar con el control de la misión para revelar toda la información a los chicos, una forma de crear confianza y tranquilidad ahora que son mayores. Sin embargo, el mensaje no se envía por un daño en el sistema. Al día siguiente, en el comedor Christopher comienza a sentir atracción, por primera vez, hacia Sela una compañera, tiene el impulso de tocarla pero lo reprime, aunque no es él único que se siente atraído por Sela, Zac mas abierto se le acerca, colocando muy incomoda a la chica, hasta que aparece Richard que le recuerda la regla de no tocarse.
Zac y Christopher son cada vez mas competitivos, luchando y corriendo para marcar un dominio sobre el otro. Una noche mientras se divertían, escuchan unos ruidos de afuera, al investigar un compañero les comenta su teoría, que se trata de un monstruo o extraterrestre al acecho. Esa misma noche, Richard le muestra a Sela su colección de plantas de la tierra, ellos tiene una buena relación y él la ayuda despejar sus dudas producto del encierro, los chicos al regresar a sus cuartos ven la interacción de Richard y Sela, y lo mal interpretan, pensando que ambos se acuestan, cosa que molesta mucho a Zac.
Al día siguiente, Richard convoca a una reunión para arreglar el sistema de comunicación, él y Zac irán fuera de la nave para la reparación. Al prepararse Zac ataca a Sela, queriendo violarla, pero Richard interviene y la salva. Cuando investiga él paradero de Zac descubre que este dejo de tomar el compuesto azul, al igual que Christopher, quien lo confronta por la mentira y el fármaco, Richard lo entiende y le habla sobre los motivos de paz que se quiere crear con su uso, además lo invita a ayudarlo con el sistema dañado y así que él mismo se queje con el control de la misión. Ambos salen al espacio pero hay un accidente y el mayor pierde la vida, también la sala de control se incendia en el proceso.
Nadie sabe que paso en ese momento, y algunos comienza a cree que fue la criatura del espacio, además las grabaciones y los datos se perdieron tras el incendio. Todos votan para elegir un nuevo líder y gana Christopher, eso enoja a Zac quien quería ganar. El nuevo líder establece que lo primero será arreglar las comunicaciones y rescatar los archivos perdidos, mas tarde encuentra a Sela en la antigua oficina de Richard, alli hablan y resuelven el malentendido, Richard hablaba con ella porque se sentía solo y aislado, ambos ven sus grabaciones y recuerdos de la tierra que este dejo en el lugar.
En la siguiente jornada, Christopher descubre que solo una chica estaba haciendo el trabajo, el resto se encuentra reparando los refrigeradores por orden de Zac este también convence a Christopher de hacen un banquete para evitar que mucha comida se pierda y celebrar el nuevo líder, este duda al inicio pero acepta, en la fiesta Zac informa que ya nadie debe beber el compuesto azul para que sus hormonas queden libres. Con el tiempo Sela y Christopher se acercan mas y hasta se tocan. Zac se acaricia con otra chica frente a todos, abriendo un mundo de posibilidades a sus compañeros. Ahora las hormonas fluyen libremente en la nave, muy pocos son pasivos al respecto, en un ocasión Zac amenaza a Sela por correr a todo el grupo de la oficia de Richard, ya que estaban destruyendo el lugar, desde alli ella comienza llevar un bisturí por seguridad.
Después de ese incidente Christopher ve como una pareja tiene sexo en el gimnasio, también ve a Zac buscar a Sela con malas intenciones, por lo que la encuentra primero, ella tampoco esta feliz con él, lo culpa por ser mal líder y no controlar la situación que tienen, esto causa una pelea entre los dos amigos. Otro nuevo conflicto aparece después que un chico, Kai, ataca a otro por tocar a una chica que le gusta, escala a mayores cuando en venganza el otro chico golpea con una palanca a Kai, iniciando una gran problema en el almuerzo. Christopher coloca orden en el lugar y aplica mas presión para arreglar la nave. Sin embargo, Zac se opone a él, y lo responsabiliza de traer a la criatura del espacio, cuando trajo el cuerpo de Richard dentro de la nave, Zac promete acabar con esta criatura y darles un propósito real a ellos, no a sus nietos. La sala se divide y solo cuatro jóvenes creen en Christopher, ellos buscan la memoria de los archivos dañados, para desmentir la existencia del monstruo, poco después aparece Zac y Kai, a la sala de mandos, dicen que la criatura esta alli y por eso destruyen lo que queda del lugar.
Christopher descubre la verdad fueron kai y Zac, los que causaron el accidente de Richard y quemaron los archivos para borrar las evidencias, y los expone en el comedor, después de acostarse con Sela, todos se impactan pero Zac su ingenio para salir de la situación, la criatura cambia formas y Richard era el monstruo, alli mismo acusa a otro de sus compañeros de ser el extraterrestre y la turba lo mata, muchos están en shock por los sucesos pero tienen miedo de Zac. El grupo de Christopher se esconde en una de las salas, alli planean ir por las armas guardadas, el compartimiento oculto del principio, para pelear con el grupo mas grande. Sin embargo, Zac los descubre antes que lleguen al armamento, ahora el grupo es mas fuerte, y dos de los seguidores de Christopher lo abandonan.
Sela propone rendirse para acercarse a Zac y matarlo, en eso llega el grupo de Zac armado y lleva a Christopher, Sale interviene y trata de seducir a Zac para apuñalarlo pero falla, luego la otra chica de su grupo trata de hacerlos entrar en razón, entonces Kai dispara y muere, todos quedan aturdidos, Zac aprovecha para alardear de su poder así que Sale y Christopher escapan.
Zac va tras ellos, no importa donde se escondan en la nave están en peligro, en la pelea matan a kai y luego van a la sala de expulsión, alli se colocan los trajes y esperan a Zac este cae en su trampa y abren la exclusa, el espacio los arrastra y la pelea se complica cuando Christopher sale volando, pero Sela logra arrogar al vacío a Zac, Christopher sobrevivió al espacio gracias al traje. Ya con la muerte de Zac el orden se restablece, una nueva comunidad se forma, y votan por Sale como líder, tratan de hacer lo mejor para todos y el compuesto azul queda vetado. Años después sus nietos divisan el nuevo planeta donde vivirán.
Opinión y Análisis
Okay creo que la referencia es obvia, se nota la inspiración con el libro El señor de las moscas, eso de ser niños (aunque estos son niños en el aspecto de sentimental solamente), encerrados en un mismo espacio, sin una autoridad, con nuevos sentimientos y miedos a descubrir, con una posible criatura al asecho, aunque esta misma no sea el problema en si, es muy de esa novela, claro esta es en el espacio y trata de abarcar otra cosas también. No solo es sobre la crudeza humana, la civilización contra la barbarie y tal vez la perdida de la inocencia, sino también la responsabilidad del ser humano que tiene con sus próximas generaciones.
Desde el inicio nos plantean como ya no hay futuro para la humanidad en la tierra (cosa que si seguimos como vamos, no es tan alejado a la realidad) así que se opta por preservar la especie en otro lugar, tal vez el planeta muera pero el humano prevalece, eso es lo importante en la misión, nadie que venga de la tierra llegara a vivir en ese nuevo habitad, todos morirán menos la especie. Cosa que es triste si lo piensan, toda la misión no es para que ellos vivan, sino para que otros vivan, y la realidad es un poco de eso, muchas generaciones tuvieron que pasar para que tu nazcas y sin conocerlos les debes eso. Sin embargo, estas generaciones no limitaron su vida o gustos por ti, en cambio ellos si, mas bien solo fueron creados para eso.
Igualmente te pone a reflexionar ¿Cuantos de nosotros somos consientes que nuestras acciones afectan a las próximas generaciones? ¿Que tan frecuente pensamos en eso cuando hacemos algo probablemente mal? creo que muy poco si lo meditamos, no es suficiente, toda la crisis que hay en el mundo lo demuestra. Aunque eso lleva a otro detalle ¿Debemos limitar nuestra vida totalmente? hablo de no vivirla sino reprimirla a favor de los futuros humanos, y así hasta el final, pienso que es complejo, porque estamos decidiendo entre nuestra libertad y la vida de otros ¿Te sacrificarías por alguien que no conocerás? he ahí el dilema.
El aspecto técnico me gusto, aunque no es nada fuera de lo normal en su genero, las actuaciones no son malas, teniendo en cuenta que muchos fueron privados de sus emociones desde niños, es normal que se limiten en sus expresiones. Hay detalles que me hicieron pensar en 2001: Odiosea del espacio digno representante del genero, cosa que es normal entre las referencias. Realmente la situación nunca estalla y el mensaje con el clímax pierde efecto rápidamente, lo que la hace decepcionante.
Ciertamente me gustan las matemáticas y hay un detalle que pensé viendo la película, es la cantidad de humanos que llegaran al nuevo planeta y a la posibilidad de que la raza sobreviva a partir de alli, lo digo porque la endogamia es un problema muy palpable en esa situación y sabemos que eso es un inconveniente muy grande, no tener variedad genética implica el fin en pocas generaciones, y en este caso es lo ultimo de a humanidad. Claro ellos llevan el conocimiento y el equipo para la Fecundación in Vitro, aunque al final de la película rechazaron esa idea, tampoco se si esa ciencia aplicada tenga la repuesta correcta para eludir los problemas de la endogamia, otra cosa que no se y no explican, es si ellos iban preparados con una dotación de gametos femeninos y masculinos, para reconstruir la especie con la FIV en el planeta, lo que solucionaría todo. De no ser así, hicieron toda la misión para nada.
Nota: Si, en una arca de Noé de cualquier tipo, se necesita mas de una pareja (femenina y masculina) para preservar la especie porque si no esta igualmente se degrada y muere con el paso del tiempo.
Quitando todo lo anterior, me la película me entretuvo. Sin embargo, entiendo porque no fue bien recibida, hay muchos exponente mejores del genero que puedes ver, lo que la hace común y predecible, lo otro, alude al El señor de la moscas pero no tiene la fuerza o la crudeza que lo representa, es como la versión para adolescentes con semi adultos hormonales, y eso que mueren 5 y hay una escena subida de tono. La recomendaría a alguien que no sea amante de la odiosea espacial o la ciencia ficción, que sea un televidente común y no tan especializado.

Which is sad if you think about it, the whole mission is not for them to live, but for others to live, and the reality is a little bit of that, many generations had to pass for you to be born and without knowing them you owe them that. However, these generations did not limit their lives or tastes for you, instead they did, rather they were only created for that.
How many of us are aware that our actions affect the next generations? How often do we think about it when we do something probably wrong? The technical aspect I liked, although it is nothing out of the ordinary in its genre, the performances are not bad, taking into account that many were deprived of their emotions since they were children, it is normal that they are limited in their expressions. There are details that made me think of 2001:A Space Odyssey, a worthy representative of the genre, which is normal among the references. The situation never really explodes and the message with the climax loses effect quickly, which makes it disappointing.
Certainly I like mathematics and there is a detail that I thought watching the movie, is the amount of humans that will arrive to the new planet and the possibility that the race will survive from there, I say this because inbreeding is a very palpable problem in that situation and we know that this is a very big drawback, not having genetic variety implies the end in a few generations, and in this case it is the last of humanity. Of course they have the knowledge and the equipment for In Vitro Fertilization, although at the end of the movie they rejected that idea, I do not know if that applied science has the right answer to avoid the problems of inbreeding, another thing that I do not know and they do not explain, is if they were prepared with an endowment of male and female gametes, to rebuild the species with IVF on the planet, which would solve everything. If not, they did the whole mission for nothing.
