Unlike popular Japanese animation, the western animation didn't have to many movies or TV shows that are memorable like the anime ones, at least not in recent years where only CGI animated movies are popular. Meanwhile anime is taking over the world of cartoons, but with the coming of Castlevania I feel the western animation is finally doing something good.
Castlevania is based on popular game franchise that started all the way back in 1987. My first contact with Castlevania was back in 1995 when I played one of my first Super Nintendo games, the game was Castlevania 4 and it was awesome, so this cartoon definitely brought some nostalgic feels.
Second season is a little bit longer than the first introductory one, there are eight 25 minute episodes filled with brutality, humor and good old fashioned characters portrayed in an interesting and multilayered way. The main protagonist is the last in line of Belmonts, a warrior family that specialized in exterminating all the creatures of the night, Trevor Belmont is a drunk with no purpose until Dracula started a war against humanity.
You will be surprised by the gore and blood that is spilled in this series, it almost reminds me of Berserk, one of the most brutal animes ever released. The quality of animation and details are staggering, you will definitely be surprised and you owe it to yourself to watch this. Score: 9/10.
