There is an anime that at some point has been causing a stir in recent weeks, although only 5 chapters have been issued these have been enough to arouse the interest of the general public. I would say that the supernatural genre is overcrowded with content of all kinds, so it becomes complicated to determine which anime are good and which are not, but when one shows signs of being interesting the information spreads and reaches the fandom quickly. This has always happened, but not always the results have been as expected, some anime are great in the first chapters, however, end up declining as the story progresses.
So, to get into the subject, I want to give you my initial impressions of Dandadan, an anime that came to me because of the great commotion it has caused on the internet and that frankly has a very striking cover, notice how important it is that the graphic style enjoys creativity, good colors and good art. Just seeing a spaceship on the cover, but also monsters and spirits is reason enough to get the idea that a good vibe is coming, plus, the red and yellow colors somehow generate a mysterious and supernatural atmosphere.

To give you some context, this anime introduces us to Momo Ayase and Ken Takakura, two high school boys with very different personalities and attitudes. Momo is a cute, funny, self-confident girl who believes in spirits since her grandmother is a medium or spiritualist. On the other hand, Ken is shy, unpopular, nerdy and believes in extraterrestrials, in fact, he is obsessed with the subject and likes to investigate it. Thus we have two very different people both in gender and personality, as well as in supernatural beliefs.
In a certain circumstance, the two meet and discuss the existence of the aforementioned supernatural beings, Momo assures that extraterrestrials do not exist, while Ken refuses to believe in spirits, so both challenge each other to confirm their beliefs. Thus, when they agree to go to places where they both know that strange things happen, both are trapped in situations that beyond confirming the existence of both spirits and aliens, leaves them in a big problem that they did not expect at all.
From that experience they both generate a friendship in which they will face challenges and supernatural experiences from which it will be difficult to escape, but they have the great help of Momo's grandmother, Seiko Ayase, who as I mentioned before is a medium and seems to know in depth the mysteries of the spiritual world. By the way, I must point out that the grandmother has a very funny and striking personality, so far she is my favorite character of the anime, besides, beyond her white hair, physically she doesn't look like a grandmother at all.
The fun and frenetic tone of the anime is one of its great standards, from the first moment I was caught in the plot and the way it is raised. I think the author gets it right in the distinctive mix of personalities of the protagonists while adding complements such as the grandmother that enrich and amplify the story and the plot. The animation is in charge of a studio that until now had been unknown to me, I did a little research and I could only recognize that they made the animation of Devilman Crybaby, an anime that I also watched and liked a lot.
So, if you want to see an anime in which good comedy is not missing and that evokes different supernatural elements, then you should watch Dandadan, as I mentioned, only 5 chapters have been aired, but they have been enough to understand that it will be worth it, I think it is one of those anime that will last in time. Maybe it's too early to give it a score, but with what I've seen so far I could rate it a solid 8.5, we'll see how the season ends. For me in particular it has been a pleasant surprise, lately I have been skeptical with new anime, but watching Dandadan has been refreshing and renewing. By the way, you can watch this anime on Netflix.
