¡Hola, Hive!
En esta oportunidad vuelvo con uno de mis post favoritos de hacer: las reseñas. Y es que desde el inicio de la pandemia me he vuelto muy aficionada a las series, en especial las de HBO, y he visto un sinfín en los últimos años pero me he dado cuenta de que no he hecho reseñas de ninguna de ellas; por tal motivo, estoy emocionada escribiendo este post de la reseña de una serie que me atrapó muy rápido.

This time I'm back with one of my favorite posts to do: reviews. Since the beginning of the pandemic I've become very fond of series, especially HBO ones, and I've watched a lot of them in the last years but I've realized that I haven't reviewed any of them; for that reason, I'm excited to write this post about the review of a series that caught me very quickly.

Desde hace unas semanas comencé a ver el tráiler oficial de la nueva temporada de My Brilliant Friend una serie que ha sido muy aclamada. Era mucha la curiosidad que tenía respecto a esta serie que el fin de semana pasado la pasé viendo un maratón de la primera y segunda temporada.
Esta reseña la voy a enfocar en las primeras dos temporadas y en mi opinión general de la serie, ya que la tercera está apenas comenzando.
A few weeks ago I started watching the official trailer for the new season of My Brilliant Friend, a series that has been highly acclaimed. I was so curious about this series that I spent last weekend watching a marathon of the first and second seasons.
This review I'm going to focus on the first two seasons and my overall opinion of the series, as the third season is just getting started.

La escritora Elena Greco descubre que Lila Cerullo, su amiga de toda la vida, ha desaparecido sin dejar rastro. Su ausencia evoca en Elena el recuerdo de su tempestuosa amistad, un vínculo inquebrantable forjado en las peligrosas calles de Nápoles.

Writer Elena Greco discovers that Lila Cerullo, her lifelong friend, has disappeared without a trace. Her absence evokes in Elena the memory of their tempestuous friendship, an unbreakable bond forged on the dangerous streets of Naples.

Sobre la serie:
Algo que destacó mucho para mis gustos y que me encanta de la serie es cómo las temporadas siguen los capítulos como si de un libro se tratara.
También la elección del cast es muy buena, los actores son perfectos en sus papeles, tanto los más jóvenes como los adultos.
Las actuaciones son de 10 con todos los personajes. Aunque todos hacen un trabajo excepcional, mis actuaciones favoritas (aparte de las protagonistas) fueron las de la madre de Elena: Anna Rita Vitolo como Immacolata Greco; y la de Alessio Gallo como Michele Solara.
Esta serie es una adaptación de un Bestseller de la autora Elena Ferrante. Siento que las personas que antes leyeron la novela y luego vieron la serie estarían muy felices viendo cómo toma vida cada escenario del libro en la TV con la fantástica cinematografía de la serie.

About the series:
Something that stood out a lot for my tastes and that I love about the series is how the seasons follow the chapters like a book.
Also the casting choice is very good, the actors are perfect in their roles, both the younger ones and the adults.
The performances are 10 with all the characters. Although they all do an exceptional job, my favorite performances (apart from the main characters) were those of Elena's mother: Anna Rita Vitolo as Immacolata Greco; and Alessio Gallo as Michele Solara.
This series is an adaptation of a Bestseller by author Elena Ferrante. I feel that people who previously read the novel and then watched the series would be very happy to see how it brings each scenario of the book to life on TV with the fantastic cinematography of the series.
Opinión:
Algo que está muy presente a lo largo de la serie es el aprender y es justo allí desde donde comienza a ser narrada la historia. Se ve a dos pequeñas niñas que sobresalen por su inteligencia sobre las demás estudiantes del mismo salón, y es gracias a esa inteligencia que sus caminos comienzan a entrelazarse en medio de una longeva y tempestuosa amistad.
La serie va siendo narrada por Elena, el punto de vista, quien, años después a partir de la desaparición de su amiga, se encuentra escribiendo la historia de Lila y, al contar la historia de Lila, cuenta la suya propia.
Recuerdo muy bien que la primera característica que dijo Elena sobre Lila fue que era una persona “firme”; se puede apreciar en plenitud esa característica de Lila, una niña con una firmeza tenaz aún en las circunstancias que la rodeaban. Mientras tanto, Elena es más tímida y observadora, es precisamente esa mezcla de personalidad entre ellas la que cautiva desde el principio.
Opinion:
Something that is very present throughout the series is learning and it is right there from where the story begins to be narrated. We see two little girls who stand out for their intelligence over the other students in the same classroom, and it is thanks to that intelligence that their paths begin to intertwine in the midst of a long-lasting and stormy friendship.
The series is narrated by Elena, the point of view, who, years after her friend's disappearance, finds herself writing Lila's story and, in telling Lila's story, tells her own.
I remember very well that the first characteristic Elena said about Lila was that she was a "firm" person; you can fully appreciate that characteristic of Lila, a girl with a tenacious firmness even in the circumstances that surrounded her. Meanwhile, Elena is more shy and observant, and it is precisely this mix of personalities that captivates from the beginning.
Cuando se comienza a ver el paso del tiempo en la serie uno se va dando cuenta de que ninguna de las dos amigas vive en un mundo de fantasía soñado, aunque ambas toman caminos distintos a partir del término de su niñez.
En muchos sentidos se puede ver claramente cómo son víctimas de su entorno, de la época en la que viven y de las tradiciones; todo esto se vuelve una soga que las asfixia lentamente y de la que no es tan fácil deshacerse. Pero, al mismo tiempo, pese a las circunstancias que viven en muchas oportunidades por ser del género femenino, se nota cómo se va cambiando la posición de las mujeres en Nápoles, principalmente.
Lo que me gusta mucho de la historia de la serie es que sí, es una amistad tempestuosa por muchas razones como lo dice la sinopsis y es precisamente por ello que se me hace muy real. En las amistades muchas veces no hay solo cariño para con la otra persona, sino que también hay ciertos momentos de envidia, rivalidad, rencor y alejamiento, pero son esos matices (según mi percepción) los que vuelven a una amistad verdadera. En la serie Elena y Lila pasan por muchas cosas que hacen que se separen por un tiempo, que sientan envidia, que sientan rencor, pero sin importar las circunstancias siempre están en la mente de la otra y, al final, se terminan encontrando y se une de nuevo ese lazo que se formó desde que eran pequeñas. Sin importar los malos sentimientos en ciertos momentos, Elena y Lila logran deshacerse de ellos, apoyarse y ayudarse a ser mejores personas y, lo que más resalta, a superar sus límites sin importar qué.
When you start to see the passage of time in the series you realize that neither of the two friends live in a dream world of fantasy, although both take different paths from the end of their childhood.
In many ways one can clearly see how they are victims of their environment, of the times in which they live and of traditions; all this becomes a noose that slowly suffocates them and from which it is not so easy to get rid of. But, at the same time, in spite of the circumstances they live in many times because they are women, it is noticeable how the position of women in Naples, mainly, is changing.
What I really like about the story of the series is that yes, it is a stormy friendship for many reasons as the synopsis says and that is precisely why it feels very real to me. In friendships many times there is not only affection for the other person, but there are also certain moments of envy, rivalry, resentment and estrangement, but it is those nuances (according to my perception) that make a true friendship. In the series Elena and Lila go through many things that make them separate for a while, they feel envy, they feel resentment, but regardless of the circumstances they are always in each other's minds and, in the end, they end up meeting and that bond that was formed since they were little girls is united again. Regardless of the bad feelings at certain moments, Elena and Lila manage to get rid of them, support each other and help each other to be better people and, what stands out the most, to overcome their limits no matter what.
En el transcurso de la serie te preguntas quién es la amiga brillante, como lo dice el título, pero al acabar de verla te das cuenta de que en realidad ambas lo son.
Estoy segura de que muchas personas se podrán sentir identificadas con la amistad intensa entre Elena y Lila.
Quizá en algunos momentos sea un poco fuerte de ver, pero aun así recomiendo mucho la serie. Si al leer este post quedan interesados y quieren comenzar a verla, es muy buena.
During the course of the series you wonder who is the brilliant friend, as the title says, but when you finish watching it you realize that in reality they both are.
I'm sure many people will be able to identify with the intense friendship between Elena and Lila.
It may be a bit strong to watch in some moments, but I still highly recommend the series. If you are interested in reading this post and want to start watching it, it is very good.
