Today I wanted to see a Korean movie, I was not sure which one, so I decided to investigate a little and I got a recommendation of a movie that several members of the community reviewed, so I thought that if it caused so much commotion around here it was worth giving the movie a chance, therefore, welcome to a new review today dear friends, some already know the movie, but for those who do not, I want to talk about the movie called "Ballerina", without further ado, let's start with the review.

This movie released on October 6, 2023 is a South Korean production that belongs to the Netflix catalog (so if you want to see it, you know where you can find it) and the genre of drama and suspense. Here we will follow the story of Ok-ju, a girl who long ago worked as a bodyguard meets a former classmate, so they rekindle a friendship and spend good times together and becoming best friends, but everything comes to an end when Ok-ju's best friend commits suicide and Ok-ju leaves her a note where she asks her to take revenge on those who made her decide to commit suicide, so Ok-ju decides to honor her best friend.

What happens in the movie?

Let's talk a little about what happens in the movie, it begins in a store, here several men enter and are ready to steal, so they make some disasters and frighten the cashier, but while everything happens a girl who wants to pay for the things she wants to buy appears, which leaves everyone a little surprised because clearly a robbery is happening, but she takes everything calmly, the thieves try to hurt her and here we see the gifts as a fighter that this girl has, so in a matter of minutes she knocks down the men who were trying to rob the store and leaves.

The next scene we see is a sort of ballet dancers recital, here we focus on a girl who seems to be completely nervous, but still stays within her role doing a good job, until at a certain point in the routine she starts to make small mistakes and this causes her to fall down and right at that moment we switch scenes and focus on our main character named Ok-ju who is the same girl who earlier knocked down the men in the store. Ok-ju gets a call from a friend who she hasn't seen in a while, but the friend asks Ok-ju if they can meet, so Ok-ju stops to buy some things and then heads to her friend's house.

When she arrives she rings the doorbell a few times, but her friend doesn't answer, so Ok-ju enters, she checks some rooms and finds a box with a bow which seems to be a gift for her, when she opens the box she finds some ballerina slippers and also a note, in the note she asks her to please take revenge for her, she is sure her friend can do it and leaves her a user. Ok-ju keeps going through the house and calls her friend's phone, which makes her reach the bathroom where the phone rings and there, in a bathtub is her friend who has committed suicide.

Ok-ju thinks about what happened, she even remembers how she and her best friend met again, it was all thanks to Ok-ju's birthday, she went to a store to buy a cake and Min-hee worked there, so they started to spend more time together and have fun. Back to the present and Ok-ju decides to look for the user that her friend left in the note, this leads him to a food selling account, but something strange happens here, then Min-hee's phone rings, Ok-ju answers without talking and hears a man threatening Min-hee, so now she has a new clue to follow, Ok-ju is ready to fulfill her friend's last request.

My opinion about the movie

The rest of the movie I won't mention it in case someone hasn't seen it and wants to see it, for now I will only talk about my opinion regarding the movie and I will do it starting with the story and I want to be very honest, the movie in story aspects bored me a little bit, I mean, it's not the best thought story, I feel like a lot of things happen very fast, you don't have time to connect with the characters and I really didn't like this at all, I would even say that the movie is similar to so many other action movies, specially John Wick, but that's a more personal thought, the theme of revenge is used in many other movies, but this one didn't catch me at all.

Although the story did not catch me at all does not mean that the film seemed bad to me, because I consider that it has two important points that make it good and I consider that is what ends up saving it, one of them are the action scenes, although I find them a little exaggerated at times and somewhat uncomfortable by the camera turns in other scenes, it was really what I enjoyed the most, really the action keeps you entertained and is something that is in much of the film, this was the only thing that made me could see the movie, just to see these moments.

The other aspect that I think saves the movie is the performance of the main character, although I didn't connect with her, I really liked the role she played, it really felt like she was inside the story and I found her character interesting and quite curious, although I think there wasn't enough time to give her some character development that always comes in handy in these movies, but I understand that she was just a person seeking revenge for her friend and that's it, there was no message here from the character, so taking that out, she was a good main character that I personally liked.

Finally I want to mention that it is not the best movie I've seen, as I said above in terms of story is very simple, somewhat empty and leaves you wanting more, at least I think the premise was interesting and could have exploited other aspects, but this is a personal taste, but objectively the film is entertaining, it is a movie that in a week I will surely not remember, but it kept me entertained and fulfilled its function, so there is not much I want to ask, I repeat again, it is not the best movie, but I do not consider it the worst, it is regular as far as revenge movies are concerned.

El día de hoy tenía ganas de ver alguna película coreana, no tenía claro cuál, por lo que decidí indagar un poco y me salió una recomendación de una película a la cual varios miembros de la comunidad le hicieron reseña, por lo que pensé que si causó tanto revuelo por aquí no estaba de más darle una oportunidad a la película, por lo tanto, sean bienvenidos a una nueva reseña el día de hoy queridos amigos, algunos ya conocerán la película, pero para los que no, quiero hablarles de la película llamada “Bailarina”, sin más que agregar, comencemos con la reseña.

Esta película estrenada el 6 de octubre del año 2023 es una producción surcoreana que pertenece al catálogo de Netflix (por lo que, si desean verla, ya saben dónde pueden encontrarla) y al género de drama y suspenso. Aquí seguiremos la historia de Ok-ju, una chica quien tiempo atrás trabajó como guardaespaldas se encuentra con una ex compañera de clases, por lo que vuelven a entablar una amistad y pasan buenos momentos juntos y convirtiéndose en mejores amigas, pero todo llega a su fin cuando la mejor amiga de Ok-ju se suicida y esta le deja una nota donde le pide que se vengue de aquellos que hicieron que decidiese suicidarse, por lo que Ok-ju decide honrar a su mejor amiga.

¿Qué sucede en la película?

Hablemos un poco de lo que sucede dentro de la película, esta comienza en una tienda, aquí entran varios hombres y se disponen a robar, por lo que hacen algunos desastres y amedrentan al cajero, pero mientras todo sucede aparece una chica que quiere pagar por las cosas que quiere comprar, lo que deja a todos un poco extrañados porque claramente está sucediendo un robo, pero ella se toma todo con tranquilidad, los ladrones intentan lastimarla y aquí vemos los dotes como luchadora que tiene esta chica, por lo que en cuestión de minutos derriba a los hombres que intentaban robar la tienda y se marcha.

La siguiente escena que vemos es una especie de recital de bailarinas de ballet, aquí nos enfocamos en una chica que parece estar completamente nerviosa, pero aún así se mantiene dentro de su papel haciendo un buen trabajo, hasta que en cierto momento de la rutina empieza a cometer pequeños fallos y esto ocasiona que se caiga y justo en ese momento cambiamos de escena y nos centramos en nuestra protagonista llamada Ok-ju quien es la misma chica que antes derribo a los hombres en la tienda. Ok-ju recibe una llamada de una amiga a la cual no ha visto hace un tiempo, pero la amiga le pide a Ok-ju si pueden verse, así que Ok-ju se detiene a comprar algunas cosas y luego se dirige a casa de su amiga.

Al llegar toca el timbre algunas veces, pero su amiga no responde, por lo que Ok-ju entra, esta revisa algunas habitaciones y encuentra una caja con un lazo lo que parece ser un regalo para ella, al abrir la caja encuentra unas zapatillas de bailarina y también una nota, en la nota le pide que por favor se vengue por ella, está segura que su amiga puede hacerlo y le deja un usuario. Ok-ju sigue recorriendo la casa y llama al teléfono de su amiga, lo que la hace llegar al baño donde el teléfono suena y allí, en una tina se encuentra su amiga quien se ha suicidado.

Ok-ju piensa en lo que ha sucedido, incluso recuerda el cómo ella y su mejor amiga se volvieron a encontrar, todo fue gracias al cumpleaños de Ok-ju, ella se dirigió a una tienda para comprar un pastel y allí trabajaba Min-hee, por lo que empezaron a pasar más tiempo juntos y a divertirse. Volvemos al presente y Ok-ju decide buscar el usuario que su amiga dejó en la nota, esto lo lleva a una cuenta de venta de comida, pero algo extraño pasa aquí, luego el teléfono de Min-hee suena, Ok-ju contesta sin hablar y escucha a un hombre que amenaza a Min-hee, por lo que ahora tiene una nueva pista qué seguir, Ok-ju está dispuesta a cumplir la última petición de su amiga.

Mí opinión sobre la película

El resto de la película no lo mencionaré por si alguien no la ha visto y desea verla, por ahora sólo hablaré de mi opinión con respecto a la película y lo haré comenzando con la historia y quiero ser muy honesto, la película en aspectos de historia me aburrió un poco, quiero decir, no es la historia mejor pensada, siento que muchas cosas suceden muy rápido, no tienes tiempo de conectar con los personajes y realmente esto no me gustó del todo, incluso diría que la película es similar a tantas otras de acción, en especial John Wick, pero ese es un pensamiento más personal, el tema de la venganza se utiliza en muchas otras películas, pero esta no me atrapó del todo.

Aunque la historia no me haya atrapado para nada no quiere decir que la película me haya parecido mala, porque considero que tiene dos puntos importantes que la hacen buena y considero que es lo que la termina salvando, uno de ellos son las escenas de acción, aunque me parecen un poco exageradas en algunos momentos y un tanto incomodas por los giros de cámara en otras escenas, realmente fue lo que más disfruté, realmente la acción te mantiene entretenido y es algo que hay en gran parte de la película, esto fue lo único que hizo que pudiese ver la película, sólo para ver estos momentos.

El otro aspecto que me parece que salva la película es la actuación de la protagonista, aunque no conecté con ella, realmente me gustó el papel que interpretó, realmente se sentía que estaba dentro de la historia y su personaje me pareció interesante y bastante curioso, aunque creo que no hubo el tiempo suficiente para darle cierto desarrollo de personaje que siempre viene bien en estas películas, pero entiendo que simplemente era una persona buscando venganza por su amiga y ya, no había un mensaje aquí del personaje, así que quitando eso, fue una buena protagonista que personalmente me gustó.

Por último quiero mencionar que no es la mejor película que he visto, como bien decía arriba en cuanto a historia es muy simple, un tanto vacía y deja con ganas de más, al menos considero que la premisa era interesante y pudo haberse explotado otros aspectos, pero ya esto es un gusto personal, pero objetivamente la película es entretenida, es una película que dentro de una semana seguramente no voy a recordar, pero me mantuvo entretenido y cumplió con su función, por lo que no hay mucho que le quiera pedir, repito nuevamente, no es la mejor película, pero tampoco considero que sea la peor, es regular en cuanto a las películas de venganza.

Finalizo diciendo que, si no han visto la película no se las recomiendo, considero que hay mejores opciones honestamente, pero si sienten intriga por saber lo que sucede espero que ustedes sí puedan disfrutarla, claramente no es apta para todo público por muchas de las cosas que suceden, pero tampoco es muy explicita, está en un buen equilibrio.
