Con el éxito conseguido por la productora "A24" en la temporada de premios al cine; solo queda buscar dominar los premios entregados a las producciones televisivas, específicamente formatos de serie, miniserie y demás; desde hace algún tiempo han incursionado en esa ventana del entretenimiento y en dónde varias de sus producciones pueden ser vistas en diferentes canales por cable o servicio de streaming, para citar una de sus producciones tomo como ejemplo la serie de HBO, "Euphoria". En este año, A24 estrena cuatro seréis, siendo la primera estrenada en Netflix el pasado 6 de abril, la cual consta de 10 episodios.

"Beef" es una miniserie de comedia y drama que relata la historia de "Danny" y "Amy", dos personas que a primer momento tienen muchas diferencias, pero el lidar con ciertos episodios de sus vidas les hace explorar una incontrolable rabia ente uno y el otro; ese inexplicable odio entre ellos creara un torbellino de lucha y necesidad de hacerse daño que podrá afectar a todo lo que lo rodea poniendo en peligro sus vidas actuales y en vez de tener satisfacción por ver la desgracia el del otro, lo que podrá crear es una destrucción en dónde el arrepentimiento no será suficiente.
"Beef" is a comedy-drama miniseries that tells the story of "Danny" and "Amy", two people who at first have many differences, but dealing with certain episodes of their lives makes them explore an uncontrollable rage between one and the other; that inexplicable hatred between them will create a whirlwind of struggle and need to hurt each other that may affect everything around them endangering their current lives and instead of having satisfaction in seeing the misfortune of the other, what may create is a destruction where repentance will not be enough.
Al momento de ver el tráiler de esta miniserie pensé que sería como las películas "The War of the Roses" (1989) o "Mr. & Mrs. Smith" (2005), en dónde parejas no se soportan, siendo el daño físico y mental la unica manera de expresar lo que siente el uno por el otro, mi percepción no estaba muy equivocada, aunque en "Beef" si existía una notoria diferencia y es que los protagonistas de esta historia no se conocían, solamente estaban en el lugar y momento equivocado reaccionando a una situación de la peor manera que posiblemente consideremos que es exagerada, pero creo que en algún momento hemos visto que ciertas personas no pueden superar algún dicho o hecho que realice una persona y que nos haga enojar; justamente es eso lo que me ha gustado más de la nueva producción de Netflix que a pesar de ser algo que se pueda percibir cómo algo difícil de entender, creo que puede en algún momento sucederle a cualquiera.
Cómo dije anteriormente, la miniserie está compuesta por 10 episodios, en dónde cada uno tiene una duración de 39 y 30 minutos y eso es un punto positivo porque es fácil de ver; se enfoca muy bien en como relatar las historias de los personajes que aparecen en esta producción y de desarrollar temas, como el manejo de la rabia, frustración, envidia, disfunción familiar, estrés, presión, depresión, relación de pareja, paternidad, amistad y seguramente otras más, es impresionante como Lee Sung Jin, creador de esta serie y que ejerce también la función de ser guionista en muchos episodios de esta serie; decide de manera diferente o dependiendo de las situaciones que experimentas los protagonistas, dar un tratamiento adecuado a los temas antes citados usando en varios momentos la comedia.

As I said before, the miniseries is composed of 10 episodes, where each one has a duration of 39 and 30 minutes and that is a positive point because it is easy to watch; It focuses very well on how to tell the stories of the characters that appear in this production and to develop themes, such as anger management, frustration, envy, family dysfunction, stress, pressure, depression, relationship, parenthood, friendship and surely more, it is impressive how Lee Sung Jin, creator of this series and who also exercises the function of being a screenwriter in many episodes of this series; decides in a different way or depending on the situations experienced by the main characters, to give an adequate treatment to the above mentioned topics using comedy in several moments.
Si hay algo que destacar de esta miniserie, eso es la actuación de Steven Yeun y Ali Wong; esta historia es relatada desde el punto de vista de "Danny" y "Amy" y creo que no había mejor manera de hacerlo demostrando como dos personajes con vidas diferentes, tengan tanto en común y que usen el inexplicable odio que sienten para expresar su sufrimiento. El trabajo de Yeun nuevamente me sorprende, así como lo ha hecho en "Mayhem" y "Minari", cito estás dos películas porque una es sumamente violenta y la otra es un drama y creo que este actor puede lidiar con esos géneros y así como lo realizó en buena manera en esas producciones, en esta vez lo hace mejor, en especial en renglón del drama porque Danny es alguien que ya no puede lidiar más con la presión, tristeza y frustración que siente y por eso se siente vivo cuando conoce a su gran rival. Del trabajo de Wong, el cual esta es la segunda vez que la veo actuar, creo que su personaje es alguien que pide conectar con muchas personas, alguien exitoso que necesita experimentar la comodidad porque está cansada de lidiar con la manera tan despectiva e irrespetuosa de otras personas que se sienten mejor que ella, es entendible su calidad de frustración, de soledad, de una obligación que no la deja descansar, es un personaje formidable, por varios momentos triste así como el de Danny y eso es porque pareciera que no hay nadie quien los comprendan.

The work of Yeun again surprises me, as he has done in "Mayhem" and "Minari", I mention these two movies because one is extremely violent and the other is a drama and I think this actor can deal with those genres and as he did in a good way in those productions, this time he does it better, especially in the drama line because Danny is someone who can no longer deal with the pressure, sadness and frustration he feels and that's why he feels alive when he meets his great rival. From Wong's work, which this is the second time I see her acting, I think her character is someone who asks to connect with many people, someone successful who needs to experience comfort because she is tired of dealing with the disrespectful and disrespectful way of other people who feel better than her, it is understandable her quality of frustration, of loneliness, of an obligation that does not let her rest, she is a formidable character, for several moments sad as well as Danny's and that is because it seems that there is no one who understands them.
Personalmente, siempre trato de evitar los problemas, trato de no prestar atención a ciertas cosas aunque en ese momento pueda sentir frustración y molestia por cualquier situación; tampoco soy de buscar algún problema o discusión con extraños porque crep que existe muchas personas que están locas y que esperan lo mínimo para explotar y no quisiera ser víctima de ningún loco, aunque algunas veces es inevitable y eso lo digo porque lamentablemente no podemos manejar muchas cosas a nuestro alrededor y creo que si nos dejamos agobiar por muchos problemas podemos ceder de diferentes maneras y al final perdernos; todo esto que describo es lo que asimiló de lo visto en esta miniserie que me pareció genial como explora la vida de estas dos personas que necesitan un motivo de vida y que lamentablemente es una discusión en la calle los que crea una guerra sin escrúpulos dónde cada acción tiene una reacción y eso la convierte en un enfrentamiento sin un final aparente. En mi opinión, Beef es una de las mejores producciones que he visto en el año, una historia muy bien escrita, dirigida y por supuesto con excelentes actuaciones y que no sé si decidan hacer una temporada más, creo que hay muchas cosas que todavía se pueden explorar y si no es así, entonces de igual manera está muy bien realizada.
Personally, I always try to avoid problems, I try not to pay attention to certain things even though at that moment I may feel frustration and annoyance for any situation; I am not looking for any problem or discussion with strangers because I think there are many people who are crazy and waiting for the least to explode and I would not want to be the victim of any crazy person, although sometimes it is inevitable and I say that because unfortunately we can not handle many things around us and I think that if we let ourselves be overwhelmed by many problems we can give in different ways and in the end get lost; All this that I describe is what I assimilated from what I saw in this miniseries that I found great as it explores the life of these two people who need a reason to live and that unfortunately it is an argument in the street that creates a war without scruples where every action has a reaction and that makes it a confrontation without an apparent end. In my opinion, Beef is one of the best productions I have seen this year, a very well written story, directed and of course with excellent performances and I do not know if they decide to do one more season, I think there are many things that can still be explored and if not, then it is still very well done.
