Una época de violencia no detendrá la vida llena de inocencia de un niño... "Belfast"
En el mundo existen (y existirán) historias lamentables de violencia en diferentes ciudades, actos que serán noticia y que cambiara la vida de muchas personas; recuerdo que de niño al ver mucha televisión era imposible no notar este tipo de noticias por ejemplo las que provenían de Irlanda del Norte y toda la violencia creada por la división "religiosa" de su comunidad, primeramente no entendía nada y fue gracias al fútbol que tuve más noción de todo lo que ocurría en ese país, recuerdo que cuando por fin se puso un alto a todo este conflicto no pude evitar sentir alegría a pesar de que siempre habrá heridas que serán difíciles de cerrar, es por eso que al saber que esta película trata sobre esas historias inmediatamente se convirtió en una que quería ver.

In the world there are (and will be) unfortunate stories of violence in different cities, acts that will make the news and change the lives of many people; I remember as a child watching a lot of television it was impossible not to notice this kind of news for example those coming from Northern Ireland and all the violence created by the "religious" division of their community, at first I did not understand anything and it was thanks to soccer that I had more notion of everything that happened in that country, I remember that when finally put a stop to all this conflict I could not help but feel joy even though there will always be wounds that will be difficult to close, that's why knowing that this film is about those stories immediately became one that I wanted to see.
"Belfast" podemos calificarla como un drama, Coming-of-Age y comedia, su historia se enfoca en la vida del pequeño "Buddy" un niño de 9 años de edad proveniente de una familia Irlandesa de clase obrera y protestante, es agosto de 1969 y desde ese momento su vida tiene un cambio radical, la lucha entre Protestantes y Católicos llegó a la calle en donde tenía una vida tranquila junto a amigos y familiares, la violencia se hace presente y todo mundo de inocencia que tiene el pequeño Buddy parece peligrar, pero justamente las cosas que siempre han estado con él, será lo que haga frente a todo problema para que no pierda lo bueno de ser niño.
"Belfast" we can qualify it as a drama, Coming-of-Age and comedy, its story focuses on the life of little "Buddy" a 9 year old boy from a Protestant and working class Irish family, it is August 1969 and from that moment his life has a radical change, The fight between Protestants and Catholics reached the street where he had a quiet life with friends and family, violence is present and all the world of innocence that has the little Buddy seems endangered, but just the things that have always been with him, will be those who will face every problem so that he does not lose the good of being a child.
La dirección vino por parte de Kenneth Branagh, he visto algunas películas en dónde es el director y puedo decir que está es la que más me ha gustado, disfrute mucho las imágenes de la ciudad de lo que es ahora y lo que se enfoca cuando comienza la historia de Buddy, a pesar de que todo sucede en un escenario pequeño y simple, este director no pierde ningún momento en mostrar buenas imágenes, el uso del blanco y negro es algo que hace resaltar mucho está película, es para mí la mejor decisión que pudo tomar el director porque pienso que la fotografía sea mucho mejor, si detiene en varias partes del film, veremos una gran serie de fotografías impresionantes, como mencioné anteriormente, para mí es le mejor trabajo de este director a la fecha.
El guion es escrito por el mismo Branagh, puedo decir que está historia es una biografía de este actor, director y escritor, su vivencia temprana en Belfast al origen de Los Problemas en Irlanda de Norte y todo lo que tuvo que pasar él junto a su familia para poder seguir adelante, creo que es por eso que está historia es desde el punto de vista de un niño, es por eso que a pesar de ser clave toda la violencia que sucede, no se enfoca tanto en el problema religioso y político, una discusión entre niños, debates televisivos, noticias sobre lo ocurrido en otras localidades y el miedo de un chico que no sabe si todo lo que sucede está bien o está mal, pero a pesar de eso, me gusta que también cuente todo lo que hace su familia para que el pequeño Buddy no sienta ni viva ningún problema aunque es difícil por toda la lamentable situación que ocurrió en ese país en esos años; a pesar de todo lo antes descrito no considero una historia perfecta, hay situaciones que parece que se arreglan de forma caricaturesca y puedo pensar nuevamente de que cómo es relatada desde la visión de un niño no puedo esperar otra cosa, pero creo algunas cosas se pudieron solucionar de otra forma.
The direction came from Kenneth Branagh, I have seen some films where he is the director and I can say that this is the one I liked the most, I really enjoyed the images of the city of what it is now and what is focused when Buddy's story begins, although everything happens in a small and simple scenario, this director does not lose any moment to show good images, the use of black and white is something that makes this film stand out a lot, it is for me the best decision that the director could take because I think the photography is much better, if you stop in several parts of the film, we will see a great series of impressive photographs, as I mentioned above, for me it is the best work of this director to date.
The script is written by Branagh himself, I can say that this story is a biography of this actor, director and writer, his early life in Belfast at the origin of The Troubles in Northern Ireland and everything he had to go through with his family to move forward, I think that's why this story is from the point of view of a child, that's why despite being key all the violence that happens, it does not focus so much on the religious and political problem, a discussion between children, television debates, news about what happened in other places and the fear of a boy who does not know if everything that happens is right or wrong, but despite that, I like that it also tells everything that his family does so that little Buddy does not feel or live any problem although it is difficult because of all the unfortunate situation that occurred in that country in those years; in spite of everything described above, I don't consider it a perfect story, there are situations that seem to be arranged in a caricatured way and I can think again that since it is told from the vision of a child I can't expect anything else, but I think some things could have been solved in a different way.
Al hablar de las actuaciones en esta película es imposible no referirse al trabajo de Jude Hill como "Buddy", aunque debo decir que no es algo excepcional o una actuación nunca vista, pero su personaje y por supuesto su interpretación es otra de las cosas que disfruté de este film, me hizo recordar a películas infantiles que vi de niño de las cuales justamente en "Belfast" se hace referencia, me gustó tanto ver la simpleza de lo que era esa época, un niño enfocado en jugar en la calle con sus amigos, tener buenos momentos con su padre, madre y claro sus abuelos lo cuales son mis otros personajes favoritos en esta película; el trabajo de Hill me hizo viajar al pasado y recordar esas películas, su inocencia buscando respuesta a todo lo que sucede y sus miedos al cambio, es lo que seguramente debe sentir cada niño cuando debe vivir cosas muy tristes, él es dueño del film y eso es completamente evidente. Debo también nombrar a Judi Dench y Ciarán Hinds como "Granny" y "Pop", su actuación me gustó mucho, su sacrificio, el amor por su nieto, las enseñanzas, es un simple, pero a la vez buen trabajo de ambos actores.
When discussing the performances in this film it is impossible not to refer to the work of Jude Hill as "Buddy", although I must say that it is not something exceptional or a performance never seen before, but his character and of course his interpretation is another of the things I enjoyed in this film, it reminded me of children's movies that I saw as a kid which "Belfast" justly refers to, I liked so much to see the simplicity of what that time was like, a kid focused on playing in the street with his friends, having good times with his father, mother and of course his grandparents which are my other favorite characters in this movie; The work of Hill made me travel to the past and remember those movies, his innocence looking for an answer to everything that happens and his fears of change, is what surely every child must feel when he has to live very sad things, he owns the film and that is completely evident. I must also name Judi Dench and Ciarán Hinds as "Granny" and "Pop", I really liked their performance, their sacrifice, the love for their grandson, the teachings, it's a simple, but at the same time good work from both actors.
Belfast es un excelente film, tiene una gran historia y un buen protagonista, me pareció bien el mantenerme alejado de cualquier información sobre esta historia y así no crearme ninguna expectativa, esto otra vez me ayudó mucho a disfrutar de este gran película y es que de forma inmediata pude conectarme por muchas cosas, por ejemplo la vida de Buddy no la sentí tan alejada a la que tuve cuando era niño a pesar de ser de una época diferente y con esto tampoco me refiero sobre experimentar hechos violentos sino a todo lo que debe vivir un niño, soñar con ser un héroe de alguna historia o de algún deporte, tener amistades, tener una familia, cosas simples, pero a la vez muy importante a este sumo todo lo que hizo estar en un lugar violento y querer tener una vida mejor, en esto me refiero a la parte adulta de la historia quienes son los que deben lidiar con un mundo diferente al que tiene Buddy, actualmente en Venezuela se vive en una época en dónde la violencia y problemas económicos hacen que familias emigren o tengan que dividirse buscando una vida mejor, enfrentando nuevos miedos, pero con la convicción de que tendrán estabilidad, cosa que no tiene en su lugar de origen, eso también me hizo conectar y mucho con esta historia, creo que por todo eso es que considero a esta película como una de las mejores que he visto en este año y por eso la recomiendo a todos ustedes.
Belfast is an excellent film, it has a great story and a good protagonist, I thought it was good to stay away from any information about this story and not to create any expectations, this again helped me a lot to enjoy this great film and I could immediately connect with it for many things, For example Buddy's life didn't feel so far away from the one I had as a child despite being from a different era and with this I don't mean about experiencing violent events but everything a child must live, dreaming of being a hero of a story or a sport, having friendships, having a family, simple things, but at the same time very important at the same time everything that made being in a violent place and wanting to have a better life, in this I refer to the adult part of the story who are the ones who must deal with a different world than the one Buddy has, currently in Venezuela we live in a time where violence and economic problems make families emigrate or have to divide looking for a better life, facing new fears, but with the conviction that they will have stability, which they do not have in their place of origin, that also made me connect a lot with this story, I think that for all that is why I consider this film as one of the best I have seen this year and that is why I recommend it to all of you and I hope you can see it soon.
