El MCU tuvo un año 2021 muy activo con el estreno de cuatro films y hasta 5 producciones divididas entre miniseries y series; esto significó un relanzamiento (por así decirlo) de la gran maquinaria de entretenimiento que se ha convertido Marvel Studios en todo estos últimos años; ahora como siempre está el asunto sobre si todas estas producciones serán buenas, regulares o malas, todo dependiendo sobre la percepción que se tenga al ver cada una de estas historias y para ser sincero con ustedes, de las 9 nuevas historias del MCU tal vez dos films y dos series más algunos que otros episodios fue lo que en realidad me gustó y con respecto a los demás, no puedo decir que fue algo completamente malo, pero si regular porque no cumplió la expectativas.

The MCU had a very active year 2021 with the release of four films and up to 5 productions divided between miniseries and series; this meant a relaunch (so to speak) of the great entertainment machine that Marvel Studios has become in all these last years; now as always there is the issue of whether all these productions will be good, regular or bad, all depending on the perception you have when watching each of these stories and to be honest with you, of the 9 new stories of the MCU maybe two films and two series plus some other episodes was what I really liked and with respect to the rest, I can not say it was something completely bad, but regular because it did not meet the expectations.
"Eternals" es claramente una historia de orígenes que relata la llegada a la Tierra de un grupo de alienígenas inmortales llamados "Eternals" y que han sido enviados por el celestial "Arishem"; estos diez poderosos seres tiene como misión preservar la vida inteligente de este planeta, deben proteger a la humanidad de los "Deviants", depredadores dispuestos de alimentarse de cualquier ser vivo en el universo; gracias a esto los Eternals influencia en la historia de la evolución de los humanos para que puedan desarrollarse y alcanzar un gran potencial, pero una vieja amenaza está despertando y puede terminar con toda la vida en la Tierra, esto hará que estos antiguos héroes deberán nuevamente reunirse para hacer frente a un temible enemigo y así tratar de salvar al planeta que se convirtió en su hogar.
"Eternals" is clearly an origin story that tells the arrival on Earth of a group of immortal aliens called "Eternals" sent by the celestial "Arishem"; these ten powerful beings have the mission to preserve the intelligent life of this planet, they must protect humanity from the "Deviants", predators willing to feed on any living being in the universe; Thanks to this the Eternals influence in the history of the evolution of humans so they can develop and reach a great potential, but an old threat is awakening and can end all life on Earth, this will make these ancient heroes must meet again to face a fearsome enemy and try to save the planet that became their home.
Desde el momento de que Chloé Zhao ganó el Premio Óscar como Mejor Director en el año 2020 por el film "Nomadland", se creó una gran expectativa por lo que sería su próximo trabajo relacionado con Marvel Studios en dónde debería contar una historia de ciencia ficción, heroica y de orígenes sobre un grupo de héroes muy pocos conocidos; cualquier persona, seguidor o no de las películas basadas en Marvel Comics pensaron que era hora de ver algo diferente y que hasta pudiera elevar la calidad de estos films hasta que nuevamente puedan ser considerados por los grandes premios al cine, con todo esto dicho creo que en este tipo de films es muy difícil que un director por muy bueno que sea pueda mostrar un verdadero potencial para elevar este tipo de películas, en especial las de Marvel; con esto no quiero decir que Zhao haya hecho un mal trabajo porque hay tomas que son hermosas, en muchas escenas en dónde está directora puede mostrar el porqué del reconocimiento en el año pasado podemos ver el gran ojo que tiene para crear grandes escenas, la mayoría de estas en dónde no esté relacionado el uso del CGI y por supuesto que hay algunas como las de acción en el último acto en dónde se muestra un mejor trabajo, pero creo que en muchas otras es donde se valora aún más el trabajo de esta directora.
El guion transita entre bueno, correcto y malo, para la creación de esta historia estuvieron envueltos hasta cuatro escritores, uno de ellos fue la misma Zhao y los otros tres fueron Patrick Burleigh, Ryan Firpo y Kaz Firpo; lo bueno de esta historia está basado en el origen de los Eternals, de su unión con todo lo que sucede con la historia de la humanidad y algo muy importante de cómo influyen, no solo en el asunto de servir como primeros protectores o héroes y segundo como ayuda para que puedan evolucionar, sino también en otras cosas como en padecimientos y hasta forma de ser y es que la historia deja en claro que hay una unión entre ambas razas a pesar de sus grandes diferencias; encuentro correcto de que sea una historia llena de secretos porque justamente las dos razas alienígenas protectores y depredadores, viven en secreto en la Tierra, lucharon y luchan una guerra que por el tiempo en dónde se desarrolla es difícil de mantener en secreto, pero justamente revelaciones de secretos harán que se sepa una grave verdad que afectará a los llamados primeros héroes; ahora con respecto a lo malo pienso que el desarrollo de cada uno de los personajes no fue el adecuado y no importó que se tomará el tiempo para cada uno de ellos, ya que justamente eso, el tiempo, hace que por momentos el film se sienta aburrido y es que está historia es muy extensa y creo que se pudo obviar varias cosas y así hacer un film directo manteniendo la historia que se quería contar.
From the moment that Chloé Zhao won the Oscar Award for Best Director in 2020 for the film "Nomadland", a great expectation was created for what would be his next work related to Marvel Studios where he should tell a science fiction, heroic and origins story about a group of heroes very few known; any person, follower or not of the movies based on Marvel Comics thought it was time to see something different and that could even raise the quality of these films until they can be considered again for the big film awards, with all this said I think that in this type of films it is very difficult for a director no matter how good he is to show a real potential to elevate this type of films, especially those of Marvel; with this I do not mean that Zhao has done a bad job because there are beautiful shots, in many scenes where this director can show the reason for the recognition in the last year we can see the great eye she has to create great scenes, most of these where the use of CGI is not related and of course there are some like the action in the last act where a better job is shown, but I think that in many others is where the work of this director is valued even more.
The script goes between good, right and wrong, for the creation of this story were involved up to four writers, one of them was the same Zhao and the other three were Patrick Burleigh, Ryan Firpo and Kaz Firpo; The good thing about this story is based on the origin of the Eternals, of their union with everything that happens with the history of humanity and something very important about how they influence, not only in the matter of serving as first protectors or heroes and second as help so that they can evolve, but also in other things like in ailments and even the way of being and the story makes it clear that there is a union between both races despite their great differences; I find it correct that it is a story full of secrets because precisely the two alien races, protectors and predators, live in secret on Earth, fought and fight a war that by the time where it develops is difficult to keep secret, but just revelations of secrets will make you know a serious truth that will affect the so-called first heroes; Now with respect to the bad thing I think that the development of each of the characters was not adequate and it did not matter that it will take time for each of them, because just that, the time, makes the film feel boring at times and is that this story is very extensive and I think it could have obviated several things and thus make a direct film keeping the story that was wanted to tell.
Si hay otra cosa que criticar en este film, esa es el nivel de actuación, ya que para ser sincero ninguna resalta, puedes tener empatía por la historia de algunos de sus personajes, pero hay que ser realistas y decir que no existe un buen desempeño en los muchos actores que trabajan en este film, por ejemplo Gemma Chan como "Sersi", quién debería liderar a todo el cast a pesar de contar con actrices como Angelina Jolie y Salma Hayek y no lo hace, no tiene el peso para mostrar ese sentimiento de luchar contra la obligación o un deseo propio y puede ser que su personaje tenga la historia de demostrar que es un líder en el futuro y que debe pasar por una serie de pruebas para poder convertirse en alguien importante, pero para ser sincero su actuación no demuestra nada y creo que este puede ser una de las razones del porque no hubo esa conexión entre el público, críticos con este film; de los nueve personajes restantes tengo la misma sensación, ni siquiera puedo decir que tengo uno favorito porque no disfrute a ninguno.
If there is another thing to criticize in this film, that is the level of acting, because to be honest none of them stand out, you can have empathy for the story of some of its characters, but you have to be realistic and say that there is not a good performance in the many actors working in this film, for example Gemma Chan as "Sersi", who should lead the whole cast despite having actresses like Angelina Jolie and Salma Hayek and she doesn't do it, she doesn't have the weight to show that feeling of fighting against obligation or a desire of her own and it may be that her character has the story to show that she is a leader in the future and that she must go through a series of tests in order to become someone important, but to be honest her performance doesn't show anything and I think this may be one of the reasons why there wasn't that connection between the audience, critics with this film; of the remaining nine characters I have the same feeling, I can't even say I have a favorite because I didn't enjoy any of them.
Para ser sincero, Eternals es una película extraña, no sé si quisieron darle un enfoque menos divertido y más adulto, no sé si llamarla la película "menos Marvel" hasta la fecha y pienso que es por esto que algunos la compararon con filmes basados en personajes de DC Comics; para mí, pienso que con la contratación de una directora talentosa como Chloé Zhao, pensaron que tenían la posibilidad no solo de captar la atención de millones de fans del MCU sino de los críticos y que por fin Marvel Studios tenga su "Retorno del Rey" en su palmarés, tener un film que arrase en nominaciones y en premios y es claro que está película está muy lejos de poder lograr todo eso porque no es para nada buena, tienes cosas aceptables y hasta bien hechas, pero está muy lejos de ser la mejor y después de terminar de verla pensé que hasta pudiera ser un film que no pertenece al MCU a pesar de tener fuerte relación con algo tan importante para este universo como son los celestiales, pero tranquilamente pudiera referirse a otro ente poderoso del universo y tendríamos una historia sin nada de unión con las otras 25 películas del MCU; para finalizar creo que se debió dar introducción a estos personajes con una serie o miniserie y tal vez pudo funcionar y no sé ahora cuento tiempo se tenga que esperar para ver una secuela y en realidad creo que el público no tiene la necesidad para seguir viendo la historia de estos personajes.
To be honest, Eternals is a strange movie, I don't know if they wanted to give it a less fun and more adult approach, I don't know if they wanted to call it the "least Marvel" movie to date and I think this is why some people compared it to films based on DC Comics characters; for me, I think that with the hiring of a talented director like Chloé Zhao, they thought they had the chance not only to capture the attention of millions of MCU fans but of the critics and that finally Marvel Studios will have its "Return of the King" on its roster, to have a film that will sweep the nominations and awards and it's clear that this film is far from being able to achieve all that because it's not good at all, it has acceptable and even well done things, but it is far from being the best and after I finished watching it I thought that it could even be a film that does not belong to the MCU despite having a strong relationship with something as important for this universe as the celestials, but it could easily refer to another powerful entity of the universe and we would have a story without any connection with the other 25 films of the MCU; to finish I think that these characters should have been introduced with a series or miniseries and maybe it could have worked and I don't know now how long we have to wait to see a sequel and I really think that the public doesn't have the need to continue seeing the story of these characters.
