En 1984 con el estreno de "Ghostbusters" era imposible no estar ilusionado con ver este film, recuerdo que al ver películas como E.T. y Star Wars, estaba completamente preparado para ver otra historia sobre aventuras, ciencia-ficción y lo sobrenatural, mi padre nos llevó a mi hermano mayor y a mí para ver esta película y recuerdo que estaba completamente fascinado, más que nada con el "Ectomobile" o el cual siempre le he llamado "El Carro de los Cazafantasmas", inmediatamente se transformó en uno de los vehículos y naves que siempre he querido manejar, los otros son el Batimóvil y el Halcón Milenario, pero volviendo a esta historia de científicos cazando fantasmas para salvar el mundo, no había duda que se convertirá en un éxito en esa época, el logo, la canción oficial, las dos series animadas, creía que lo tenía todo, pero siempre creí que la secuela estrenada 5 años después no tuvo el impacto que la primera parte y cuando se estrenó el spin-off en el 2016, pensaba que sería muy difícil poder volver a ver una nueva historia de estos extraños héroes.

In 1984 with the release of "Ghostbusters" it was impossible not to be excited to see this film, I remember watching movies like E.T. and Star Wars , I was completely prepared to see another story about adventure, science fiction and the supernatural, my father took my older brother and I to see this movie and I remember I was completely fascinated, most of all with the "Ectomobile" or which I have always called him "The Ghostbusters Car", it immediately became one of the vehicles and ships that I have always wanted to drive, the others are the Batmobile and the Millennium Falcon, but going back to this story of scientists hunting ghosts to save the world, there was no doubt that it would become a success at that time, the logo, the official song, the two animated series, I thought it had it all, but I always believed that the sequel released 5 years later did not have the impact that the first part and when the spin-off was released in 2016, I thought it would be very difficult to see again a new story of these strange heroes.

Sin ninguna duda de que este film es sobre el legado, 37 años atrás la primera película fue dirigida por Ivan Reitman, director que tuvo un buen número de éxitos en taquilla y películas que se volvieron de culto para el público fanático del cine; es por eso que si existirá un film que no fuera un remake o un reinicio y que sirviera más como una secuela de las dos primeras, era justo que el apellido de Reitman estuviera envuelto en esta nueva historia y es por eso que en esta oportunidad, el hijo de Iván, Jason Reitman es el encargado de dirigir esta nueva historia; el trabajo de este director es fácil, réplica muchas cosas que hizo su padre hace un buen tiempo atrás, la influencia de los primeros films de los Ghostbusters es muy evidente, pero también está la influencia en otras películas como E.T., The Goonies y en una parte en específico, Star Wars; creo que muchas partes se tomó el tiempo en hacer muy buenas tomas, aprovechar los momentos de la presentación de los nuevos personajes para que viejos y nuevos seguidores de esta franquicia los conocieran y pudiera sentir esas referencias antes citadas, la segunda hora del film, por supuesto junto a su tercer y final acto, creo que es el mejor porque une de muy buena forma lo que se hizo en los 80' y como es el uso actual del CGI en la actualidad.
Con respecto al guion, no tengo duda que lo principal era explotar la nostalgia de los fans, a esto le anexo todo lo referente a algo que seguramente no se había desarrollado profundamente como es el tema familiar, lo otro es la conveniencia de usar la perdida física de Harold Ramis quien interpretó al muy inteligente "Egon Spengler" para que fuera él quién de origen y sea el motivo principal de esta historia, está decisión por parte de Ivan Reitman y Gil Kenan quienes escribieron el guion y el cual conforman de que está secuela es un gran homenaje para esta divertida película sobre un grupo de hombres, científicos, desempleados que en su búsqueda por tener un empleo mostrando sus conocimientos, salvaron al mundo de una gran ejército de fantasmas.
Without any doubt that this film is about legacy, 37 years ago the first film was directed by Ivan Reitman, a director who had a number of box office hits and films that became cult films for the public; that's why if there will be a film that is not a remake or a reboot and that serves more as a sequel to the first two, it was fair that the name of Reitman was involved in this new story and that's why this time, the son of Ivan, Jason Reitman is in charge of directing this new story; the work of this director is easy, he replicates many things that his father did a long time ago, the influence of the first Ghostbusters films is very evident, but there is also the influence in other films like E. T., The Goonies and in a specific part, Star Wars; I think he took the time to make very good shots, taking advantage of the moments of the presentation of the new characters so that old and new fans of this franchise could know them and could feel those references mentioned above, the second hour of the film, of course along with its third and final act, I think it is the best because it unites in a very good way what was done in the 80's and how is the current use of CGI today.
Regarding the script, I have no doubt that the main thing was to exploit the nostalgia of the fans, to this I attach everything related to something that surely had not been developed deeply as the family theme, the other is the convenience of using the physical loss of Harold Ramis who played the very intelligent "Egon Spengler" so that he was the one who was the origin and the main motive of this story, This decision by Ivan Reitman and Gil Kenan who wrote the screenplay and who believe that this sequel is a great tribute to this fun movie about a group of unemployed male scientists who, in their quest to get a job by showing their knowledge, save the world from a large army of ghosts.
Las actuaciones no diré que son para ganar grandes premios ni mucho menos, pero son actuaciones adecuadas para la historia, comenzaré hablando de la joven actriz Mckenna Grace que interpreta a la inteligente, extrovertida y solitaria "Phoebe Splenger", una chica de 12 años que es la viva imagen de su abuelo, no es muy social, pero eso no evita que tenga la iniciativa de poder investigar y saber que en realidad sucede en el lugar que les dejó su abuelo y en la búsqueda de la verdad encontrará el verdadero legado que les han dejado, aparte de ella me voy a referir sobre Carrie Coon y Paul Rudd, no tengo ninguna duda de que ellos son la versión actual de lo que fue Sigourney Weaver y Rick Moranis, en la primera película; en esta oportunidad Carrie interpreta a una madre soltera, una que ha vivido un constante rechazo desde el momento de no contar con su padre y el padre de sus hijos, desde ese momento con quién cuenta es con sus hijos y entre los tres se apoyan esperando pronto tener una vida mejor; esta actriz hace un breve trabajo, pero como dije es correcto; de Rudd puedo decir que su personaje, "Gary Grooberson" es la representación de cualquier persona que vio el film original y de cómo reacciona al ver los artefactos usados por unos grandes héroes, es un divertido personaje y en eso Paul no falla; a estos actores y sus personajes sumo a Logan Kim como "Podcast", mi personaje favorito, divertido, buen amigo, decidido, ojalá que si llegan a sacar una secuela no lo vayan a dejar por fuera, es el mejor.
The performances I will not say that they are to win big awards far from it, but they are adequate performances for the story, I will start talking about the young actress Mckenna Grace who plays the intelligent, extroverted and lonely "Phoebe Splenger", a 12 year old girl who is the spitting image of her grandfather, she is not very social, but that does not prevent her from having the initiative to investigate and find out what really happens in the place that her grandfather left them and in the search for the truth she will find the true legacy that they have left them, apart from her I will refer to Carrie Coon and Paul Rudd, I have no doubt that they are the current version of what was Sigourney Weaver and Rick Moranis, in the first film; in this opportunity Carrie plays a single mother, one who has lived a constant rejection from the moment of not having her father and the father of her children, from that moment on who she counts on is her children and between the three of them they support each other hoping soon to have a better life; this actress does a brief job, but as I said it is correct; of Rudd I can say that his character, "Gary Grooberson" is the representation of anyone who saw the original film and how he reacts to see the artifacts used by some great heroes, he is a funny character and in that Paul does not fail; to these actors and their characters I add Logan Kim as "Podcast", my favorite character, funny, good friend, determined, hopefully if they get to make a sequel they will not leave him out, he is the best.
Me divertí mucho viendo "Afterlife", pienso que es una adecuada secuela que explota de una forma impresionante toda la nostalgia que puede existir sobre este tipo de películas muy famosas en los 80', creo que es lo que más destacó y lo que más me ha gustado y es que lo tiene todo, un grupo de adolescente dispuestos a descubrir y enfrentar lo desconocido en un pueblo muy alejado de la civilización, fantasmas, muchos fantasmas y algo que es imposible dejarlo pasar y eso es la música, creo que la influencia de Spielberg es muy notoria a causa de eso y de otras cosas más; a pesar de esto tal vez para algunos está no sea una película perfecta y pueden tener razón, como dije anteriormente, está debió ser una película fácil de hacer, su primera hora se enfoca en un solo personaje y quién da pie a todo lo demás, esto podrá hacerse que el film tenga algo diferente, pero necesario por tener nuevos personajes, pero su segunda hora es mucho mejor, es donde lo que queremos ver en la historia se hace presente y dónde el público podrá conectarse y empezar a disfrutar de mejor forma de este film; para ser sincero es un buena historia, muy balanceada, muy divertida, como ya he dicho varias veces, con mucha nostalgia y pienso que para esta tercera película está bien. Si vieron las originales y les gustó, entonces es obligatorio que deben ver esta tercera parte porque seguramente la disfrutarán
I had a lot of fun watching "Afterlife", I think it is an adequate sequel that exploits in an impressive way all the nostalgia that can exist about this kind of very famous movies in the 80's, I think that is what stood out the most and what I liked the most and it has it all, a group of teenagers willing to discover and face the unknown in a town far away from civilization, ghosts, many ghosts and something that is impossible to miss and that is the music, I think the influence of Spielberg is very noticeable because of that and other things; in spite of this maybe for some people this is not a perfect movie and they may be right, as I said before, this should be an easy movie to make, its first hour is focused on a single character and who gives rise to everything else, this may make the film have something different, but necessary to have new characters, but its second hour is much better, is where what we want to see in the story becomes present and where the audience can connect and start to enjoy this film in a better way; to be honest it is a good story, very balanced, very funny, as I have already said several times, with a lot of nostalgia and I think that for this third movie it is fine. If you saw the original and liked it, then it is mandatory that you must see this third part because you will surely enjoy it.
