Un mundo alterno escondido en la oscuridad que no es visto por la población en general, pero al final, de algún modo todos saben de su existencia, este mundo está lleno de personas muy peligrosas que, a pesar de ser criminales, asesinos, corruptos, todos deben vivir bajo un gran número de reglas, seguramente al leer esto podrán pensar que estoy hablando de “John Wick”, pero no, la por ahora trilogía de películas de este personaje no es la única que trata este tema o que usa de basa estas características para desarrollar su historia, hay muchas otras y es que como siempre debe existir en estos tiempos, la originalidad en el cine es algo escaso y solo se queda tomar de otras historias y crear una nueva, crear una historia que sirva, que entretenga y que hasta sea la base para mejorar en una futura franquicia.

An alternate world hidden in the darkness that is not seen by the general population, but in the end, somehow everyone knows of its existence, this world is full of very dangerous people who, despite being criminals, murderers, corrupt, all must live under a large number of rules, surely when reading this you may think that I'm talking about "John Wick", but no, the trilogy of films of this character is not the only one that deals with this theme or that uses these characteristics to develop its story, there are many others and as it should always exist in these times, originality in cinema is something scarce and it only remains to take from other stories and create a new one, create a story that serves, that entertains and that is even the basis to improve in a future franchise.
“Gunpowder Milkshake” nos relata la historia de una joven mujer llamada “Sam”, ella a la edad de 12 años fue abandonada por su madre mientras era perseguida por un gran número de asesinos, varios años han pasado y ahora Sam pertenece a la misma organización de la cual trabajaba su madre y realiza su mismo trabajo, ella es una asesina para la organización conocida como “The Firm”, una noche un fácil trabajo sale mal, una equivocación que le podrá costar su puesto en el submundo al cual pertenece, solo sus habilidades y la ayuda de su familia podrá hacer frente a enemigos poderosos y tratar de mantenerse con vida.
"Gunpowder Milkshake" tells the story of a young woman named "Sam", at the age of 12 she was abandoned by her mother while being chased by a large number of assassins, several years have passed and now Sam belongs to the same organization that her mother worked for and performs the same job, She is an assassin for the organization known as "The Firm", one night an easy job goes wrong, a mistake that could cost her her position in the underworld to which she belongs, only her skills and the help of her family will be able to face powerful enemies and try to stay alive.
Esta película me entere antes de su estreno en la plataforma de Netflix, la cual se encargó en su distribución solamente para Norteamérica, se espera que en los próximos meses ya se encuentre para todo el mundo, por los momentos ha sido estrenada en diferentes salas de cine del mundo encargándose la productora francesa como lo es Studiocanal. Este film fue dirigido por Navot Papushado, el único trabajo que he visto de este director es el gran film israelí “Big Bad Wolves” (la cual recomiendo); su trabajo en esta historia es excelente en varias partes, primero quiero resaltar en crear un mundo de personas peligrosas en donde el color siempre está presente, contrarresta lo sombrío y peligroso que debería ser un mundo lleno de criminales, pero en cambio es todo lo contrario, siempre hay un ambiente lleno de luz y de colores muy fuertes, segundo las escenas de acción van evolucionando mientras transcurre la historia, tanto en peleas, disparos como hasta en el humor, personalmente en su primera escena de combates no me gustó mucho al ser muy estática y hasta tosca, pero eso va cambiando y hasta mejorando, en lo tercero y último puedo decir que la cinematografía es buena en especial las escenas de su divertido acto final en donde todo lo descrito en este párrafo se hace presente, este es un pequeño film, pero la dirección es buena en la mayoría de las escenas.
La historia como dije antes es algo que se puede considerar muy poco original, pero como siempre he dicho en muchas oportunidades, de la influencia de muchas historias se puede crear una nueva y esta tiene un toque de eso; el guion creado por Papushado y Ehud Lavski nos relata la historia de una madre y su hija, de cómo esta joven mujer debe enfrentar una vida llena de soledad imitando lo que conoció de su madre, este es un tema recurrente en todo este film, el abandono, la responsabilidad, el saber en que confiar a un hijo, la protección hacia un menor de edad, creo que sin todo este mundo loco lleno de delincuentes, este film pudiera ser un drama sin ningún problema, pero gracias a estos dos guionistas le dan el humor y la acción necesaria para hacer un film entretenido en donde un grupo de mujeres deben mostrar su fuerza para sobrevivir.

This film was directed by Navot Papushado, the only work I have seen of this director is the great Israeli film "Big Bad Wolves" (which I recommend); his work in this story is excellent in several parts, first I want to highlight in creating a world of dangerous people where color is always present, counteracts the gloomy and dangerous that should be a world full of criminals, but instead it is the opposite, there is always an atmosphere full of light and very strong colors, second the action scenes are evolving as the story progresses, both in fights, personally in his first fight scene I did not like much to be very static and even rough, but that is changing and even improving, in the third and last I can say that the cinematography is good especially the scenes of his funny final act where everything described in this paragraph is present, this is a small film, but the direction is good in most scenes.
The story as I said before is something that can be considered very unoriginal, but as I have always said in many opportunities, from the influence of many stories you can create a new one and this one has a touch of that; the script created by Papushado and Ehud Lavski tells us the story of a mother and her daughter, how this young woman must face a life full of loneliness imitating what she knew from her mother, this is a recurring theme throughout this film, abandonment, responsibility, knowing what to trust a child with, I think that without all this crazy world full of delinquents, this film could be a drama without any problem, but thanks to these two screenwriters they give it the humor and the necessary action to make an entertaining film where a group of women must show their strength to survive.
La actuación de Karen Gillan como “Sam” es buena aunque en algunos momentos, más que nada al comienzo del film es muy parecido a lo que muestra cuando interpreta a “Nebula”, su mirada y hasta su voz es igual y tal vez eso fue lo que menos me gusto en esta película, pero del resto hace buen trabajo más que nada cuando esta con la joven actriz _Chloe Coleman quien interpreta a “Emily”, pero cuando comparte escenas con Lena Headey es en donde su personaje y su actuación mejora, se ve que hay química entre estas dos actrices y se vio mucho en este film, eso lo hace mejor; el otro trio de mujeres quienes acompañan a estas tres protagonistas también hacen un buen trabajo, es simple directo, Carla Gugino, Michelle Yeoh y Angela Bassett, cumplen con el rol dictaminado, una es sobreprotectora, otra es seria y la ultima una líder pasional y fuerte, me gusto este trio de personajes, en realidad las 5 mujeres fueron personajes muy bien escritos y actuados.
The performance of Karen Gillan as "Sam" is good although in some moments, mostly at the beginning of the film is very similar to what she shows when she plays "Nebula", her look and even her voice is the same and maybe that's what I liked the least in this movie, but the rest does a good job mostly when she is with the young actress _Chloe Coleman who plays "Emily", but when she shares scenes with Lena Headey is where her character and performance improves, you can see that there is chemistry between these two actresses and it was seen a lot in this film, that makes it better; the other trio of women who accompany these three leads also do a good job, it's simple straightforward, Carla Gugino, Michelle Yeoh and Angela Bassett, they fulfill the dictated role, one is overprotective, another is serious and the last one a passionate and strong leader, I liked this trio of characters, actually the 5 women were very well written and acted characters.
Gunpowder Milkshake, es un buen film de acción, entretenido y divertido, creo que hay muchas cosas por mejorar, pero lo visto en las escenas tanto de su segundo y final acto tengo fe de que en una posible y parece segura secuela se puede hacer mejor las escenas de acción, creo que también se puede mejorar en los villanos y este film pone la base para eso, tal vez peores personajes, hablo de que tengan un mayor grado de maldad contra Sam, algo que nos de excelentes escenas de acción que creo que es lo más importante aunque sé que posiblemente todo lo que tenga que ver con la familia y la relación entre madre e hija será muy evidente, esto me gusto de este film, porque al final todos son personajes inestables mentalmente ya que deben vivir tramas y lidiar con eso de forma rápida así que todos estos personajes no son víctimas, todos representan a depredadores en un mundo completamente lleno de ellos, la ley del más fuerte es la que deben enfrentar y por eso deben siempre tener un plan listo; espero que puedan verla y disfruten de un película en donde mujeres fuertes deberán hacer frente a organizaciones criminales para poder sobrevivir.
Gunpowder Milkshake, is a good action film, entertaining and fun, I think there are many things to improve, but what seen in the scenes of both its second and final act I have faith that in a possible and seems certain sequel can be done better action scenes, I think it can also be improved in the villains and this film lays the foundation for that, maybe worse characters, I'm talking about having a greater degree of evil against Sam, something that will give us excellent action scenes which I think is the most important thing although I know that possibly everything that has to do with the family and the relationship between mother and daughter will be very evident, this I liked this film, because in the end they are all mentally unstable characters as they must live plots and deal with that quickly so all these characters are not victims, all represent predators in a world completely full of them, the law of the strongest is what they must face and therefore must always have a plan ready; I hope you can watch it and enjoy a movie where strong women must face criminal organizations in order to survive.
