Qué mala racha tengo con películas de las cuales no tengo conocimiento de su historia y que decido ver por diferentes opiniones tanto de críticos o del público en general aunque en esta oportunidad no puedo culpar a nadie por las expectativas que me cree y eso arruinó por completo la experiencia de ver la película que reseñó en esa ocasión; con toda la sinceridad debo decir que no tenía ninguna intención de ver esta película, pero al leer breves opiniones en una red social, pensé en darle oportunidad y verificar si era cierto todo el hype que sorpresivamente ha generado o que tan solo era otra película más de Netflix con una buena historia, pero con un mal desarrollo y un peor final; lamentablemente para mí, está es otra película más que no supera las pocas, en realidad en esta oportunidad, las expectativas que me creé.

What a bad streak I have with movies of which I have no knowledge of its history and that I decide to see because of different opinions both from critics or the general public although in this opportunity I can't blame anyone for the expectations it created for me and that completely ruined the experience of seeing the movie you reviewed on that occasion; with all sincerity I must say that I had no intention of seeing this movie, but reading brief opinions in a social network, I thought of giving it a chance and verify if it was true all the hype that surprisingly has generated or that it was just another Netflix movie with a good story, but with a bad development and a worse ending; unfortunately for me, this is another movie that does not exceed the few, actually this time, the expectations that I created.
Los thrillers tienen tanto potencial para ser producciones exitosas, hasta se pueden convertir en cine de culto para muchos fans del género; a pesar de cumplir con clichés, siempre se puede anexar otras características que resalten aún más las historias que se quieren contar, por ejemplo terror, suspenso, romance, obsesión y hasta sexo, cualquier de estos factores puede influir a qué un film sea mejor cuando son usados de gran manera; ahora cuando hay un mal desarrollo o cuando se usa muchos de algunas de estas características, es donde veremos a un film que no es para nada bueno; ese caso lo encontré en la nueva producción de Netflix llamada "I Came By", un thriller que relata la historia de dos buenos amigos grafiteros, "Toby" y "Jay"; ellos buscan hacer justicia haciendo actos vandálicos en hogares de personas con gran poder económicos dejando su marca la cual es conocida como "I Came By"; un día "Jay" obtiene una gran responsabilidad y decide dejar su vida de hacer justicia con sus grafitis, esa noticia no la toma muy bien "Toby" que decide seguir haciendo su arte como forma de querer dejar un mensaje al mundo, pero justamente en uno de sus objetivos no es un hogar normal porque cosas extrañas ocurren en ese lugar y que podrá cambiar sus vidas para siempre.
Thrillers have so much potential to be successful productions, they can even become cult movies for many fans of the genre; despite complying with clichés, you can always add other features that highlight even more the stories you want to tell, for example horror, suspense, romance, obsession and even sex, any of these factors can influence what a film is better when they are used in a great way; now when there is a bad development or when many of some of these features are used, is where we will see a film that is not good at all; that case I found it in the new Netflix production called "I Came By ", a thriller that tells the story of two good friends graffiti artists, "Toby" and "Jay"; they seek to do justice by vandalizing homes of people with great economic power leaving their mark which is known as "I Came By"; One day "Jay" gets a great responsibility and decides to leave his life to do justice with his graffiti, that news is not taken very well by "Toby" who decides to continue doing his art as a way of wanting to leave a message to the world, but just in one of its objectives is not a normal home because strange things happen in that place and that can change their lives forever.
Este film fue dirigido por Babak Anvari quien co-escribió el guion junto a Namsi Khan; la dirección es de lo menos especial, ya que no ofrece mucho para destacar, aunque siendo sincero tan solo dos escenas, pienso que están bien hechas, en dónde la música y la actuación de dos de sus protagonistas hacen que sea lo mejor de un film que en mi apreciación fue aburrido. La historia tiene un gran potencial como la mayoría de las películas que estrena Netflix, sean originales o no de esa plataforma; en esta ocasión pienso que todo está completamente mal desarrollo a brindar tanta importancia a lo que es el personaje de Toby y su madre; pienso que dejar con pocas escenas el desarrollo del personaje de "Jay" afecta lo que se plantea está historia la cual es sin duda el uso o mal uso del poder; eso sí que lo entendí con respecto a cómo está desarrollado el personaje de "Sir Hector Blake", pero justamente al abarcar otras cosas creo que hace que está historia se desinfle en el tercer y final acto, cerrando a este film de una forma muy decepcionante.
This film was directed by Babak Anvari who co-wrote the script with Namsi Khan; the direction is the least special, as it does not offer much to highlight, although being honest only two scenes, I think they are well done, where the music and the performance of two of its protagonists make it the best of a film that in my opinion was boring. The story has a great potential as most of the movies that Netflix releases, whether original or not of that platform; this time I think everything is completely poorly developed to provide so much importance to what is the character of Toby and his mother; I think that leaving with few scenes the development of the character of "Jay" affects what is raised in this story which is undoubtedly the use or misuse of power; that I understood with respect to how the character of "Sir Hector Blake" is developed, but just by covering other things I think it makes this story deflates in the third and final act, closing this film in a very disappointing way.
Las actuaciones no son tan convincentes, en parte son aceptables, pero en las demás no demuestran un buen nivel; por ejemplo el trabajo hecho por George MacKay como "Toby", me pareció bueno, ya que interpreta a un joven fácil de influenciar, que no sabe qué hacer, que no sabe cómo conectar y que la soledad lo hace ser impulsivo y eso le puede causar problemas, para mí es un punto positivo en la película junto a Kelly Macdonald quien interpreta a "Lizzie", madre de Toby; ella hace de una madre soltera, psiquiatra que no sabe cómo lidiar con lo que está experimentado su hijo y eso crea una brecha grande entre los dos, pero eso no impide de que ella sabe los problemas que enfrenta su hijo y que haga lo posible para ayudarlo; está actriz hace un buen trabajo, es convincente y es sin ninguna duda lo mejor en un film tan simple; ahora la actuación de Hugh Bonneville, creo que pudo hacer algo mejor; el personaje de "Sir Hector Blake" debió mostrar un cambio de personalidad, ser un "Dr. Jekill/Mr. Hyde" en toda la expresión y no me pareció nada de eso y volviendo a la parte de la sinceridad, no hubo mucho tiempo para que desarrollara su personaje, sus escenas son breves y solo en una puede "lucir" lo que en realidad es a quien interpreta; pienso que no es culpa del actor, sino del director; del personaje de "Jay" interpretado por Percelle Ascott, es el peor actor del film, todo mal, nada destacable y sin duda es junto a la dirección y el guion lo negativo de este film.
The performances are not so convincing, in part they are acceptable, but in the others they do not show a good level; for example the work done by George MacKay as "Toby", I thought it was good, since he plays a young man easy to influence, who does not know what to do, who does not know how to connect and that loneliness makes him impulsive and that can cause him problems, for me it is a positive point in the film along with Kelly Macdonald who plays "Lizzie", Toby's mother; she plays a single mother, psychiatrist who doesn't know how to deal with what her son is experiencing and that creates a big gap between the two, but that doesn't stop her from knowing the problems her son is facing and doing her best to help him; this actress does a good job, she is convincing and is without any doubt the best in such a simple film; now the performance of Hugh Bonneville, I think he could do something better; the character of "Sir Hector Blake" should have shown a change of personality, be a "Dr. Jekill/Mr. Hyde". Jekill/Mr. Hyde" in all the expression and I did not find anything like that and returning to the part of sincerity, there was not much time for him to develop his character, his scenes are brief and only in one can "show" what he really is who he plays; I think it is not the fault of the actor, but the director; the character of "Jay" played by Percelle Ascott, is the worst actor of the film, all bad, nothing remarkable and certainly is along with the direction and the script the negative of this film.
Sabía de qué este año no me iba a liberar de ver malas películas; sé que lo que estoy practicando de no ver tanta información sobre un film, es algo que debo mejorar y así saber que ver y que no porque tal como indiqué anteriormente, I Came By, era un film que no pensaba el ver, pero caí en lo que es la opinión de varias personas los cuales hasta hicieron ver qué este film debería tener una explicación sobre diferentes sucesos y justamente eso fue lo que me impulsó a verla, siendo esto lo que me creó expectativas que no fueron respondidas y eso me decepcionó aún más. No sé si este film entra en esos que ahora financia Netflix que son pensados en desarrollar como una franquicia y sí ese es el caso, entonces hay que decir que está es otra pésima decisión de esta plataforma porque no existe nada interesante en esta historia que pueda servir como una franquicia, para mí es un completo desastre en desarrollo del guion y en la dirección, con eso no es posible que un film sea exitoso y me sorprende la atención que tiene esta película y no por ejemplo "Watcher" que es un thriller superior en todo los sentidos a esta última producción de Netflix; es por eso que si recomiendo un thriller estrenado este año, ese es Watcher; vean esa maravillosa historia en vez de la insulsa y aburrida I Came By.
I knew that this year I was not going to free myself from seeing bad movies; I know that what I am practicing of not seeing so much information about a film, is something that I must improve and thus know what to see and what not because as I indicated above, I Came By, was a film that I did not think to see, but I fell into what is the opinion of several people which even made me see that this film should have an explanation about different events and that is precisely what prompted me to see it, being this what created me expectations that were not answered and that disappointed me even more. I do not know if this film enters in those that now finances Netflix that are thought to develop as a franchise and if that is the case, then it must be said that this is another lousy decision of this platform because there is nothing interesting in this story that can serve as a franchise, for me it is a complete disaster in script development and direction, with that it is not possible for a film to be successful and I am surprised the attention that this film has and not for example "Watcher " which is a thriller superior in every way to this latest Netflix production; that's why if I recommend a thriller released this year, that's Watcher; watch that wonderful story instead of the bland and boring I Came By.
